Publisher's Summary

Russell Brand takes a deep, earnest, yet witty dive into the meaning of life, death, and the sacred space in between in this compelling Audible Original.

An Aussie woman living alone in a forest, at one with nature and technology. A former addict celebrating an anniversary in recovery with friends - all ex-addicts - at a humble community center in LA. A man, no stranger to personal tragedy, training others to swim in arctic waters. The mortality of a close friend, a beloved pet cat, and - ultimately - ourselves. Russell Brand finds the sacred in all these people, locations, and experiences and advocates for discovering and embracing the sacred that is in all that surrounds us. Not an easy task in a world filled with the distractingly profane and our culture’s high value of emptier qualities, like celebrity and wealth, often at the expense of kindness and connection. Unsparing of himself, and with insights that are sure to resonate with any listener, Revelation sets a context for our need for the sacred - especially now, given current societal fragmentation and the dearth of mitigating social and political ideas. This Audible Original will truly change your perspective and, in the process, your life.

An altogether human expression of seeking

Russell walks the thin line between filthy humanity and sagelike wisdom. He makes the sacred attainable by showing us exactly how far he is from it, but also how far he has managed to get. Russell acts, seemingly knowingly, as a bridge between the despairing, lost novice and the accomplished, assured master. There's some really well written bits that make you think he might just know what he's talking about, and some brutally human bits that make you wonder if any of us are capable of achieving the connection to the sacred. I think that's a key duality to accept when you seek the sacred. Overall I feel closer to the self I want to be for having read it, but I can't promise anyone else the same.

Well titled book

It was my experience of the pandemic to be sitting at home wondering about how the world seems to be going to the dogs and what any person could really do to stop it. I think Russell makes some good points in his book. I liked how he made the point that real change must come from within. I think it would easy to be cynical or dismissive of that point of view that change is possible. I made comittment to be kinder, more compassionate and to engage more with my community as a result of reading this book. The world, our world, seems like a very different place and I'm happy and grateful for the new perspective. That really underscored the idea for me that you needn't change the world, only yourself. It is the sum of individual change that changes the collective.

Simple solutions for complex issues

Despite the eloquence of his words, as a ESL person (English as second language) the information was felt very clear in my heart. So far, in my view Russel is the one leader for a new world order. It became clear to me the solutions starts within.
Thank you Russel!

Energetic, empathetic and articulate

It’s difficult not to like Russell Brand with his wit, intelligence and seemingly spiritual enlightenment. I enjoyed this because I do believe humans are connected by something more universal than race, language or the social/political constructs we operate within. Russell recounts some of his own and others’ life experiences, and explains the times he/they felt connected to something bigger i.e. spiritual. It’s an easy listen with some great stories, quotes and one liners. For anyone who has lost a pet recently the final chapter is pretty special.

Great insight

Russel B’s voice is hypnotic. His word selection is poetic. I love his real life warmth and no bullshit way of telling the listener the way to find your own spiritual path. I would love to read it too, but listening to RB read is pretty cool. As you can tell I’m a fan, but I know he has a lot of wisdom and honesty to share with the world.
Loved it. Get it into you.

I genuinely gave 5 stars. Fight me if you don’t believe me

I adored Daddy Russell’s other books, and this book is no exception. I love how Russell doesn’t Namby-Pamby about the point, He just gets to it. He understands that people cringe at the mention of ‘God’ but He just comes right out and does it with a nod of acknowledgement to the aversion that some may be experiencing.

As always, Russell presents a series of cruxes woven together with (often meaningful and entertaining) life experiences. He certainly had me thinking about things that I usually wouldn’t- and couldn’t - articulate in my arduous day-to-day life, and I appreciate it. I appreciate his candor, his humour, his self deprecating (without going overboard) all to present a universally applicable message that THINGS COULD AND CAN GET BETTER. We can all have a more connected experience if we consciously apply Russell’s strategies. I like it.

I’m not going to lie, I don’t fancy living much. The mental load of being a (single) Mum and being alive sometimes is suffocating. But when I listen to Russell, it feel like tiny problems in infinite space (that’s a Russell quote) and I’m grateful. So very very grateful for another fabulous book written by a man who has become my inner monologue, the twisted Angel on my shoulder who’s words keep me going when I feel like I just cannot. Thank you Russell!
