Publisher's summary

As the hockey league’s star goalie, I live by three simple principles:

  1. Keep a pristine image.
  2. Work hard on the ice.
  3. Don’t piss off the bosses…too much.

I was killing it until a mishap tarnished my image.

Now, management has me cleaning up my reputation and coaching a bunch of kids. And damn, those little punks are growing on me, and so is the program coordinator, Kendra. I’m hell-bent on proving myself, but my attraction to Kendra takes me by complete surprise. Her defenses are up, but I like a good challenge.

Management’s directives are clear: "Kendra is off-limits." But, there's a reason I'm the best. I won’t let anyone stand in the way of what I want.

So very, very dull

This book was incredibly dull. The only exciting thing that happened was when the heroine’s basement flooded! It was one of those books where you looked at the time remaining and couldn’t believe you still had five more hours! I resorted to skimming through parts in hopes some sort of plot would appear but it never did! The narrators did their usual great job but even that couldn’t save this one!

2/3rds character intro & sexual buildup

Second in the Maxwell brothers series. A sweet if Luke warm story about an experienced hockey player, Tyler Maxwell, and his immediate attraction to a down-on her-luck volunteer co-ordinator, Kendra. Unpredictability drama free. I kept waiting for a big fight and makeup given how the book was set up but a break up never occurred which was a nice change. There was a tension buildup, lots of family character development and several sex scenes at the end of the book that oddly appeared to be rushed through. Jacob Morgan was great except for some of the intimate scenes that were read flatly, with little emotion. Savannah Peachwood voice was a good match for her character- very soft spoken and calming in an older sister way but so soothing as to make the listener sleepy. Makes for a good bedtime read.
Kendra’s sister Emma and the cousins Reese and Kimberly are more potential stories for this series about 5 brothers from Chicago. Looking forward to Declan’s story next.

Love this new series!

I am loving this new series about the Maxwell Family. This story is about Tyler, the professional hockey goalie doing some volunteer work and rehab, and Kendra, the volunteer coordinator. This is a sweet romance but with plenty of steam and almost no angst. It’s a perfect feel-good, low-drama, Saturday afternoon listen. Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwood were naturally charming and wonderfully paired for this couple. All in all a lovely addition to this new series.

Loved it!

Tyler and Kendra story was amazing. I loved the banter between them. I also loved how Tyler was alpha male all the way. The Maxwell family is great sticking together and being there for one another. This book is full of steamy romance that it might melt your hands or kindle.

I love Tyler Maxwell

I’ll I thought the narrators did amazing job.
The storyline is wholesome and steaming. It’s why I love Layla Havens books.
Tylor Maxwell is yummy. I love his possessive bossy alpha ways.
If your looking for a book with no angst that has steam and will make you smile and swoon then you will love this book.

Even Jacob Morgan can’t save this book

Jacob Morgan is one of my favorite narrators in this genre. So I look forward to listening to a book that he was narrating. No matter how hard I try, I just can’t tolerate Savannah Peachwood as a narrator. But it doesn’t even matter. Because this book is terrible. The dialogue sounds like it was written by a highschooler. Seriously. Multiple times I knew that I should abandon this book but I HATE not finishing a book. I always have blind hope that it will improve at the end. Alas, I think this book even gets worse and cheesier toward the end with a dialogue less clever. Yikes

Female narrator not at favorite

Personally I do not like this female narrator, seems a little whiny, which doesn’t match the story/the female leads life experience and how well she handled it
Story a little bland

Great story and great narration

Book two in the latest series from Layla Hagen and is Tyler Maxwell’s story. Having read the first book, I could not wait to dive in to Hold Me Forever. It was everything I expected and so much more.
Tyler has been suspended from his team and his family have rallied to keep him company and his time occupied. Team management have told him in no uncertain terms that he has to keep out of trouble.
Tyler is desperate to clean up his reputation, after all his career is on the line. Working with the children he has been tasked with coaching he not only falls for them but also Kendra Douglas who is the program coordinator.

I fell hard and fast for Tyler and Kendra the woman who captures his heart. The love and camaraderie that he shares with his family was heart warming. The banter between them is witty, but it is the love and support that his family has for one another that elevates this book to another level.

Even though he has been told that Kendra is off limits, Tyler is determined to make her his. The chemistry between Tyler and Kendra is intense and impossible to ignore. I enjoyed that Kendra did not fall at his feet immediately and that he had to work to convince her to take a chance on him. I really enjoyed the development of their relationship and the love that they found together.

The narrators Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwood did a great job with their performances. Their voices are wasy to listen to and brought the story to life for me.

The Maxwell family had me laughing out loud on a number of occasions, I just love their dynamics and that they always have one another's back, no matter what. This book left me with a smile on my face and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Booooring

So far the 1st two books are boring. the female characters are so boring. I enjoyed Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwood. Not sure I would get the new books if she came out with the other brothers.
