Publisher's summary

A former gun for hire and a federal agent find themselves on the right side of love but the wrong end of a bullet in this Richter installment from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

On a fateful night in Las Vegas, FBI agent Leo Grant is working on a critical detail in a high-profile child prostitution trial when a beautiful woman jumps into the path of a bullet meant for him. Little does Leo know that the woman is Olivia, an ex-assassin who is seeking redemption one good deed at a time.

One minute, Olivia is lunging in front of Leo on the Vegas Strip. The next, she’s waking up in the hospital in a haze of pain with no memory of her past, her enemies, or even her own name.

With Olivia suffering from memory loss and completely unaware of the danger she is in, it’s up to Leo and Neil MacBain’s team of operatives to keep her safe. With Olivia and Leo both unaware of her past crimes, the two have little reason to avoid their growing attraction. Slowly her past seeps in through the cracks as she struggles to find the answers of who she is. When the veil is lifted and her dark past is staring her down, Olivia must turn her back on Leo and the love she can never allow herself to have, and race to find her would-be killer.

Brain washed

This story took me a while to become attached because it was difficult to keep characters straight. After a few chapters I became connected with Leo and Olivia and the amnesia section; From there on I was more anxious to see what happened next. Story development became more intense and interesting. Not sure which book is next but will check it out.

Good book. Bad female narration

The book is well written, loved the story. I almost discarded the book because of the female narrator. She pauses at weird times, sounds very robotic, and constantly sounds like she is going to cry. When I finally heard Joe Arden come on as the male narrator, I was relieved. He was excellent and I have enjoyed other books he has read.

a great continuation of the series

I really enjoy this series by Catherine. The Audible version enhances the story because it includes the accents that the characters would have. the story s well written and brings a lot of missing pieces parts together from the prior story. you don't need to read the first book in the series but I recommend it because it puts it all in perspective. I still can't imagine what those high school girls will live with for the res of their lives. therapy will never correct all that harm. a good love story with some great spy stuff thrown in!

it's an average story, ok to fill some time. I did fast forward several times. not as active as the first book but starting to get to know the characters enough to want to know what happens in the next book

Just enough action

The narration was fine and the story was a good one with just enough action to keep me interested. I was pleasantly surprised that this story didn’t contain a lot of gory scenes, especially considering the plot line. It’s not a favorite, but I think it’s worth a listen and definitely worth four stars.

Strong Woman Saves Herself

This is a Netgalley ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

Catherine Bybee writes strong, badass women. A Thin Disguise, book two of the Richter series, is no difference. This is a romantic suspense series. It's different from other books written by Catherine Bybee. I recommend reading in order otherwise some of the background of Richter will be lost. It is narrated by Joe Arden and Lori Prince. Their performances really make the words leap off the page.

Leo Grant is an FBI agent that was introduced in the first book of the series. He is working a case when Olivia Naught is shot in front of him. He thinks the bullet is meant for him. What he doesn't initially know is that Olivia was trained at the Richter School which made her a trained assassin. When she wakes from her injuries she has amnesia but the pull between Leo and Olivia is immediate. They hide out in a safe house and things get HOT!! They make a plan to take down the person who shot at them and the chase begins.

I expect a great story and some hot scenes from Catherine Bybee all the while creating characters who are strong. This is no different. I can't wait to read the third book in the series.

Good read and Listen

This was an interesting story about the guilt and struggles of this young woman. She was raised in a military school that trained her, but they later exploited her and used her skills to become an assassin. This is a story of hope, how someone’s love for us can help heal our wounds and overcome our guilt. Excellent narration also!
