Publisher's summary

Savage, lawless, 1880's frontier Skagway, Alaska, is ruled by ruthless men. A woman isn’t welcome, except in dance halls. Young widow Jessie barely knows how to fend for herself, much less those depending on her in an unwelcoming man’s world.

Brokenhearted lumberjack, Logan Pace, came to seek his fortune in the lumber business. He deserves better than Jessie, with her haunted past and overwhelming responsibilities. She must survive, thrive, and prove to herself she's worthy of love.

Strong & Independent Women

This was my first experience with Lynda Rees' work and it was fun and exciting. I enjoyed this book, but I found that although the author portrays the female characters to be strong and independent overcoming great difficulties, the male characters seemed to be more one dimensional. Miranda Cameron's narration is fine and her voice is pleasant. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.
