Publisher's summary

A gripping friends-to-lovers-to-enemies dark romance.

New York City - not for the fainthearted or the sweetest of souls. The last thing I expected was to be back in this city, after all these years. And I definitely did not expect to be back in this house, where it all started. I have spent years avoiding this place and the cold, hard reality of what happened here.

But I have no choice. We are all quarantined together in this house. It took the end of the world for me to come back here and face him.

Milo Sinclair.

Once my legal guardian and savior in life. The person who saved me from drowning in loneliness. Who gave me everything I ever wanted. But then he took everything away from me. Plus interest. He broke me. He will not break me again.

This is a dark forbidden romance. It contains discussions about the pandemic, mental health issues, and mature new adults. It also contains dubious situations that some listeners might find offensive.

Dark romance is subjective. Some listeners have found this audiobook to be a light listen while others were sensitive to the material. Milo isn’t a normal romance hero, and some might not consider him a hero at all. So, please don’t listen to this if any of the above bothers you.

Quarantined is book one of the Quarantine series.

Dark and Intense!

This is the first book in the Quarantine series. Milo and Raven’s slow burn and forbidden romance is dark, and intense. Milo is enigmatic, controlling, dominant, jealous, intense, and possessive. Raven is young, naive, smart, and beautiful. Their relationship is twisted, and their story is filled with angst, and some heartbreaking scenes. This is a great introduction to this series. Jill Cardoza and Jim Chapel are new narrators to me. They did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to Isolation, the next book in the series to know what happens next. #AudiobookObsession

Quarantined

This is very dark and contains a lot of taboo scenes but it's not a bad listen if you go in paying attention to the warnings.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Dark Forbidden Romance

Quarantined by Drethi Anis is a dark forbidden romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Jill Cardoza and Jim Chapel. This is the first book in the Quarantine series.

This is the first book of Drethi's that I have read and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. The relationship between Raven and Milo will take you on an emotional rollercoaster.

I can't wait to dive into the next book Isolation so I can get more of their story.

Jill and Jim did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, forbidden romances, or friends to lovers to enemies romances.

Dark Guardian and His Ward Romance

Let me start off by saying if you have trigger warnings please see the ones listed for this book. Also please keep in mind it's a work of fiction. 9 years ago Raven and her dad move next door to the Sinclair family. Milo is the oldest and Reed is Raven's best friend. Reed and Raven are both 17. Reed and Raven both share the same birthday. None of the parents are working in the country and they leave Milo, 20 as a guardian to the other 3 kids. Raven always had a crush on Milo. Milo had feelings for Raven but didn't act on them because he was her guardian. Somewhere along the way Milo gives into his feelings. Milo becomes unhinged and obsessed. In the beginning they both help each other in ways the other doesn't fully understand. There are a lot of misunderstandings between Milo and Raven because they make assumptions and don't communicate. They both really need to learn to talk. Raven always runs to avoid confrontation. Raven feels like no one gives her love like she deserves. It's always conditional love. Milo has a lot of anxiety because of being a guardian and he feels like the only cure is Raven. Somewhere along the way their feelings switch. Raven wants to get away and Milo won't let her. Milo goes from being Raven's hero to her villain. The book has dark points with so many confusing feelings. It is very good though.

DO NOT IGNORE AUTHORS WARNING

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Drethi Anis. Do NOT ignore the warning! It was really DARK for me.

RAPE HAPPENS THROUGHOUT. The dark books I'm familiar with do not have dubious situations/RAPE through the whole book so I mention it in case your on the fence with it.

The hero is no hero...yet...sorta. Milo was an incredible guardian at the beginning, so my heart was softened towards him. But he turned obsessive and obtuse. Emotionally stunted. Raven was so confused on how she felt. Part of the time she just let things happen, other times she fought for what she wanted at the moment. I had tears and my heart broke for what these kids went through by their parents and each other.

So much in this book regarding mental health... parental depression, parental abandonment, guardian fixation towards the guardian and by the guardian. Again, heartbreaking.

Since this is a cliffhanger, the pandemic part of the book must be in future books because this just mentions the quarantine at the opening and closing of the book. The rest of the book went back years into their past. The cliffhanger was a whaaaat? moment.

The narrators were new to me. I really liked their voices. At first I heard the male narrator taking breathes. Either that stopped or I just got so involved in the book I didn't hear it any longer. The female narrator started off sounding as if she was reading vs acting. She got much better with only one short instance of it again somewhere in the middle of the audio. At the beginning, the duet narration was poorly done. Again! It got better!!!

I look forward to the next audiobook. I really want to like Milo and Raven!
