Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author of The Highland Fling comes a brand new romantic comedy about a desperate billionaire seeking to find a fiancée. This modern day take on Pretty Woman is brilliantly clever and hilariously pause-resisting.

How did you two meet?

The quintessential question asked to every couple. And the answer is usually some bubbly, lovey dovey tale of being struck in the bum by Cupid’s arrow.

My meet cute (well, not so meet cute) is slightly different. I was trolling a wealthy neighborhood in Beverly Hills, searching for someone to take me as their bride, you know, to make my arch nemesis jealous who consequently just fired me.

He was stomping around the block like some sort of gorgeous ogre, mumbling about a business deal gone wrong and attempting to finagle his way out of it.

And that's when we bumped into each other.

There were no sparks.

Not even a hint of blossoming love.

But next thing I knew, I was scarfing down free chips and guac, listening to this man lay out all of his problems which led to his big ask...he wanted me to be his Vivian Ward, you know, from Pretty Woman - minus the frisky behavior.

We're talking about living in a mansion, intimate double dates, and pretending we were head over heels in love...and engaged. Can you imagine?

The absolute audacity.

But people do crazy things when they’re desperate. And I reeked of desperation. So, I struck up a deal.

My one big mistake, though...big...HUGE? I accidentally fell for the incomparable Huxley Cane.

Another cute and funny Romantic Comedy by Meghan Quinn. While Fake Relationships aren't really my trope, this one had me giggling a lot, especially when we meet Judith! With these characters, I feel like they swapped sides for me a lot, at first I thought he was a complete Jerk and she was an airhead but then I started to see his softer side and she showed a little of her jerk side too. I liked that they both had a few layers to them. If you are looking for something that will make you laugh and is also pretty steamy this is the book for you!

The narration was good. I like both Aaron and Ava's work.

Modern Day Pretty Woman

You can never go wrong with a Meghan Quinn book, honestly, there isn't a book of hers that I've read that I didn't love. She writes Romantic Comedies with the perfect blend of spice, humor and character, and she did it again with A Not So Meet Cute.

This was an audiobook read for me that hit the mark perfectly. I'm rather picky when it comes to narrators, but I loved Ava Erickson as Lottie and Aaron Shedlock as Huxley. Their performance brought that extra oomph to an already great story.

A Not So Meet Cute takes the fake fiancé trope and adds a little extra... a pregnancy! I enjoyed listening to Huxley and Lottie go from being almost childish in their behavior towards one another to acting on the underlying sexual tension, to ultimately finding love.

There were several scenes that had me cracking up over the situations Hux and Lottie found themselves in while pretending to be an expecting couple. Dry humping to relive the point of conception in front of a class full of people?! Being squirted in the eye with fake breast milk from a fake boob?! Best yet, being puked and crapped on by a fake baby with one eye! Definitely no shortage of funny moments in this book.

Of course, on the other side of that, there were the steamy scenes. Get ready for the shower scene, but make sure if you're listening to it, you do it with headphones and away from little ears! Huxley Cane 😍.

I always look forward to Meghan Quinn books and am baffled at how she always writes these stories that are relatable, but still sweep the reader up into the world we're reading about. I highly recommend this book and look forward to a future book about Kelsey, Lottie's sister and JP, Huxley's brother!

Meghan Knocked this one out of the park!!!

I was not expecting to be so thoroughly entertained and fulfilled by this book, but that’s exactly what happened. I love love love Lottie!!! Her brashness and unfiltered comments and comebacks were so totally endearing. Huxley’s rough edges and directness was so irritating in the beginning but absolutely grew on me as he evolved throughout the story. Their journey together had me completely engrossed and also literally laughing out loud so much my hubby actually asked me to stop and share what I was reading. Lol I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR YOUR READING ENJOYMENT!!!!

Top notch narration for some OTP rom com fun

I have found that I'm a big fan of Meghan Quinn's books when I listen to the audio. The narrators always do a great job of bringing the characters and the story to life and I find myself laughing out loud all the time. A Not So Meet Cute was no different. Great narration from the narrators. They really captured the fun and enjoyable fake dating/opposites attract romance.

Huxley and Lottie have both gotten themselves into quite the pickle. Lottie was just let go from a job that everyone told her not to take in the first place, but she keeps that aspect hidden. So, she needs money/job to move out of her parents house like they so desperately want her to. And then there's Huxley. He is so focused on work and landing the next big job that he lies his way into a fake fiancé to get the job. What ensues is a "bumped into meet cute" that ends up turning into quite the contract and lies on top of lies. But the one thing you can always count on with Ms Quinn is some crazy antics, wonderful banter and characters that just seem to fit.

Upon Hux and Lottie first meeting, I actually liked both characters and couldn't wait for more of them. Their first "date" was funny and put me somewhat at ease. But then Huxley's real "charm" started to show and honestly, it took me a bit to warm up to him. I loved Lottie and her sense of self and the way she cared for others. From her mom, her sister and even her old boss. She had me hooked around her finger. Once Hux did some major"convincing" to follow his plan, the plot thickened and included some some pretty outrageous scenarios that were laugh out loud funny and had me slowly beginning to like Hux. When he was with his brothers and seeing things he did on the down low? Yup, that's when he won be over.

Overall, I enjoyed this romcom and the over the top situations. But the spice? Yea, that was nice and the way they built it up? Steamy, sexual tension fun. I can't wait to get more in this world, because how can you not with rich and successful brothers?

A cute light read!

This was my first read from Meghan Quinn and ultimately it was such a super cute story, that was at times very funny, sometimes ridiculous, and very entertaining. Both characters were strong personalities which added to the humor. Fake baby, fake fiance, but real love? Will their not so meet cute become more?

Huxley Cane wants to make a deal but it's complicated by the fact that he is all business and no heart. The man he wants to make a deal with doesn’t want to play ball. Huxley’s two brothers suggest he needs to be more approachable so when he meets the man in public, he tells him that he’s engaged and his fiance is pregnant. Whoops. All this is a lie and he has no idea what to do until a solution presents itself. He meets Lottie walking in his neighborhood. She had a crazy idea that a rich husband is the only way out of her woeful financial troubles after being fired from her job by her vapid ex-friend. They bump into each other and realize they may be the answer to each other’s problem. So after some convincing, Lottie becomes Huxley’s fake pregnant fiance, moves in with him, and accompanies Huxley as he attempts to make a deal. Their “romance” is filled with a boatload of snark, absolutely ridiculous situations, and eventually some seriously hot steam.

Ava Erickson and Aaron Shedlock did an amazing job narrating this title. I enjoyed both of their performances immensely especially in the humorous parts and steamy parts. Overall, I liked the story quite a bit but felt the pacing was a little slow. I enjoy romcoms, but it’s not my go to genre, and I generally like them a little quicker paced. Some of the situations the characters find themselves in went a little past funny for me. But overall the steam was hot, the ending was so super sweet, and the snark was everything I wanted it to be. I loved that the characters could keep up with each other and called each other out. Sometimes I found Lottie to be a little over the top, but if you are a lover of romcoms this one will be right up your alley.
