Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
The Sunday Times best seller from the worldwide best-selling author of Amazon Prime's Nine Perfect Strangers and the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning HBO series Big Little Lies.
The Delaney family love one another dearly - it's just that sometimes they want to murder each other....
Joy Delaney and husband Stan have done well. Four wonderful grown-up children. A family business to envy. The golden years of retirement ahead of them.
So when Joy Delaney vanishes - no note, no calls, her bike missing - it's natural that tongues will wag.
How did Stan scratch his face? And who was the stranger who entered and suddenly left their lives? What are they all hiding?
But for the Delaney children there is a much more terrifying question: did they ever know their parents at all?
Apples Never Fall has been optioned for TV by Heyday Television.
Critic reviews
"A tour-de-force of a novel; brilliantly plotted and superbly written.... The tension builds to a conclusion alive with ingenious twists. Smart, sharp and utterly riveting." (Daily Mail)
"Utterly and completely wonderful. I've loved all of Liane's books but Apples Never Fall is next-level writing: an intelligent, forensic portrait of a family." (Marian Keyes)
"A fantastic storyteller. Apples Never Fall is gripping, getting to the dark underbelly of a seemingly perfect family. A cracking read." (Lorraine Kelly, ITV)

Great story and performance except
The Irish accent was so bad I nearly stopped listening. Painful. If it wasn’t called out as Irish that wouldn’t have been an issue as it was not recognisable!

Such a refreshing read.
I enjoyed this very clever book about relationships, life, happiness, sadness & of course Tennis.
Such an ingenious book. The characters were brilliant. I am definitely a much older version of Amy!! I laughed out loud sometimes, it also brought me to tears. Liane is my new favourite, Love the narrator (bit dodgy Irish accent) but would still rate her above average.

Next!
I love this author the collaboration of Liane Moriarty and Caroline Lee is just sublime.
Beautifully developed characters to care about and miss when they’re gone.
I love the examination of the minutiae of everyday, normal lives, the intertwined relationships and the development of the whole story.
What I hate, is when it ends!

totally engrossing
this is a rich, many layered story about family, sport and childhood abuse which gains from the excellent narration. I recommend wholeheartedly.

Loved it!
A cleverly written book with so much detail that gets revisited throughout the story. I'm not sure how much I would have enjoyed this had I read it as it goes off at tangents and then comes back to the mains story which makes progress slightly slow. all of these things come together and little details have relevance and are very cleverly 'explained' later. Really long but such fun and made me smile.

Liane Moriarty’s best novel yet.
Apples Never Fall is an outstanding novel full of the usual Liane Moriarty wit, engaging storylines and fabulous characters. The Delaney family are well known in their neighbourhood due to the successful tennis school they ran for years before selling up. Their four children were excellent players, but sadly none of them took their talent to a professional level. Joy and Stan Delaney are now in their late 60’s and struggling to adapt to their retired lifestyle. When Joy goes missing, the police start asking questions and uncover many family secrets the Delaney’s would rather not reveal.
I was completely gripped by this book and feel the story was so expertly weaved together, that there wasn’t one single thread left without explanation. I must have said ‘ah’ countless times after what appeared to be a minor point in the narrative, actually went on to explain a huge plot development. I listened to the audiobook and Caroline Lea had me in hysterics at times with her fantastic accents and emphasis. This will be an excellent gift for anyone who enjoys reading and is already a Liane Moriarty fan or not. Fabulous

Really enjoyed
Back on form here with characters plot and story telling. Started another book recently by well known author which annoyed me immediately with unbelievable characters and choices being made by characters which just didn’t ring true. This was opposite. And you are so engaged with characters and narrator you wouldn’t notice if they were. A good insight into marriage siblings and familial relationships

Another great story from Liane Moriarty
I have never read a book by Liane Moriarty that I haven't loved but this was my first audio book of hers. At first the strong Australian accent was hard to zone into but I actually ended up loving the narration; it was beautifully done and she added nuance to character voices brilliantly. it's a fantastic book and lovely story. The last few chapters were just brilliant. Sad to have finished it.
