Indeed, I enjoyed EMP Disaster !

OK, even though the word "indeed " was way overused, I like the story. Kept me listening. Good ending.

The son

I liked the characters and the story. It was a little different so it kept me interested. I would definitely recommend this one.

Requires a Stretch of Imagination

As EMP fiction, this series fits in the norm. The characters are well formed although they aren't particularly intelligent or interesting (except for the character Rita.) They make some of the most ridiculous strategic decisions I can imagine, and they fail to make any long-term plans, and yet by a total quirk of luck they survive the apocalypse against human enemies far more dangerous and better prepared than this little group of survivors. Ms Hamilton's writing is good, although rather hokie at times. With a more realistic plot, this could be a better series.
The narrator, Stacey Glemboski, does a good job keeping the action going. The only problem I have is that practically every single character is portrayed with a very nasally, whiny voice. Either that, or they sound like they're 'not-too-bright' I feel like reaching into the book and slapping the backs of their heads and say, "Quit whining you sniveling idiots!"
The series is "okay." Something to pass the time with.

Outstanding Book!

I’ve read many books of this genre. This is one of the best. I highly recommend it. One thing I appreciated is that it has the requisite conflict that would occur in a total collapse situation, but on the other hand, it doesn’t rely on gratuitous gore and depravity that other authors of lesser talent seem to think is necessary in order to keep readers interested.

Shona ruins everything

The story is great, the performance was too. Unfortunately, the character Shona is so whiney, immature and annoying that I couldn't finish the book series. she ruins every chapter she's in. Her character is soooooo frustrating that it takes the rest of the story down with her. Could have done with WAY less shona. The story would have been 100 times better if she had been a much smaller character. Other then that, the series was pretty good and I enjoyed the plot until I couldn't handle Shona anymore.

I wanted to like it

I like the story concept but I found the characters annoying. Very annoying…whiny and unlikable. Also the author repeats a lot of information and used the word “indeed” so much I finally quit listening.

Good but not great

Questionable decisions and overindulgence in emotional analysis of the characters made it a little tedious at times and detracted from an otherwise good story.

Crazy and Exciting

A brilliant EMP disaster. A family trying to survive after the EMP finds themselves pitted against a boss who is just slightly crazy. They find themselves holed up in the one place that can help them survive, but can they keep it? There is constant conflict, suspense and intense action that will keep you listening. A great story and highly recommend.

Boring

Weak men and commando women. I usually love Grace Hamilton's books just not this one.

Human nature?

The lights go out and after two hours, ppl are literally butchering cops on the streets?

If human beings worked like that, we’d never have left the savannah.

Times of severe crisis usually bring out the best in us, not the worst. If we were as is described in this and way too many other books in this genre, we’d be extinct aeons ago.

I wanted to like this series, but I can’t get past the ”three meals to mayhem”-trope.
