Publisher's summary

I, Tillie Jean Rock, am not in love with my brother’s teammate.

Sure, he might have those biceps and that “I am the grouchiest of grouchy bears” smolder, and he might shovel snow off his driveway next door wearing nothing but boxer shorts and rubber boots, and he might be running a side business feeding all the stray goats in town, but studliness is only skin-deep.

And I might flirt with him every chance I get, but I swear it’s only to annoy my brother.

And him.

Because Max Cole?

Under all of those glorious muscles and chiseled cheekbones and searing glares beats the heart of a heartless devil.

I could no sooner fall in love with a guy who treats me like a kid, and judges me at every opportunity, and sets an army of garden gnomes loose on my yard, than I could fall in love with my grandfather’s pet parrot.

But I can definitely annoy him. I can 100 percent get on board with annoying him.

That’s what you do when you don’t like your neighbor, right?

But you know what they say about love and hate…

It’s a very thin line.

Especially when the real reason I’m not in love with Max Cole—that he’s incapable of love—might not be true at all.

The Grumpy Player Next Door is a fun-filled enemies-to-lovers romcom featuring a ray of sunshine on a mission, an athlete who’s only grouchy around her, and an epic prank gone wrong. It stands alone and comes complete with small-town shenanigans, a goat who’s not nearly as wise as his name suggests, and proof that sometimes, love is the best kind of vengeance.

Not Grant’s finest

I love Pippa Grant’s books, but occasionally one of them falls flat. Unfortunately, this book is one of them.
There’s a slow burn, and then there’s a repetitive, bang your head on a table, let’s go back to pretending nothing ever happened, jesus christ I don’t think I’m going to make it through this book, slow anything but a burn.
I barely finished the story. Three quarters of the book, if not more, was no character growing, no character learning, let’s just do the same thing over and over idiocy. And then the short HEA at the end was bland. Sigh.

Grumpy Bear

Love that Pippa can write real issues of Depression and anxiety that real people suffer from everyday and the struggles they go through to combat, sometimes exceeding sometimes dropping deeper into that hole wondering if you can crawl out of it. Love, family and friends are a big part of helping them, yet allowing that person time to heal and reflect when its needed. Tillie and Max's story is beautiful and heartfelt and the narrators do an awesome job putting those thought and feelings right out there for you. Awesome job and story.

I don’t know??

This was funny and cute and I really wanted to enjoy it (which I did, at times) but it was kind of all over the place and I kept feeling lost. This is supposed to be a standalone, but I think it would have been more enjoyable if I had read the other books in the series.

Not like the others

I love the other stories in Pippa’s series, but this one just seemed to drag on and on with the sexual tension between Max and TJ and just kept going in the same circle too long. I was annoyed with how many times we had to hear about Max and his “frustration”
Just felt like there wasn’t as much fun in this one. Still love the other books though!

Slow to Love

When I started the book I wasn’t too sure about the story. Left it for a few months and came back and throughly enjoyed the rest. Not sure what my aversion was earlier but glad I got over it

Boring

I couldn’t even finish listening to the book. It was not witty or funny. It was just plain boring. I wish I could get my money back.

Shipwreck strikes again!

Tillie Jean and Max’s romance was filled with angry flirting, verbal sparring, neighbor hijinks and sexy romantic interludes. Unfortunately, when this pair finally drops the hostilities they routinely get interrupted by her siblings, his teammates and a wandering male goat named Sue. They say opposites attract and while TJ is Shipwreck’s sweetheart, Max is a grumpy athlete with anxiety only in town for the winter to train with his Copper Valley Fireballs teammates and he’s even grumpy with them. It’s a slow burn enemies to lovers adventure that dragged on a little too long for me but when mighty Max finally falls it’s worth the price of admission. I loved the bathtub scene, the glitter bomb debacle, the dirty garden gnome pranks and drunken glow in the dark putt putt but my favorite was Max’s naked pitching. After all of his snarky remarks it was nice to imagine enjoying the scenery in peace and quiet. :) Get ready to giggle, sizzle and fall in love with Shipwreck all over again. I listened to the audiobook and I loved Savannah Peachwood’s sweet yet feisty girl next door but was a little disappointed in Wen Ross’s lackluster energy. It was good but nothing to rave about.

Humor, Heart, Heat and High Jinx.

Want an up close and person view of the Rck family? This one is the book you are looking for. I love the pranks the siblings play on each other and how Tilly Jean and Max both help each other grow without realizing that they are doing it. As someone who has had panic attacks, I can appreciate that part of the story too. A lot of heart in this story. The path these two follow flows and makes sense. I love the humor as well. Who doesn’t love Long Beak Silver?

Funny, great characters, story line was fun, serious issues and still handled it with grace. I want to see more in this series

Soooo funny!

Pippa Grant = Humor, great storyline, and most of all, the ability to approach sensitive issues so people can understand.
Thank you
