An ancient evil stirs in the darkness....

The Spirit King is dead, but young dragon rider Pieter’s wounds still run deep. His dragon Gloriox is determined to help him heal, but when their travels bring them to the realm of Chamenos, they quickly discover that Gloriox’s niece has been captured. And every other dragon has gone missing….

With their newfound friends Ziggy and Rosa, Pieter and Gloriox scour the land to find Gloriox’s niece. But their search is made even more dangerous by a tyrant king, who’s determined to find the first dragon’s bones. This bloodthirsty ruler will kill anyone who gets in his way, and Pieter may be the only one who can stop him.

The shadow of evil hangs over them all, and Pieter is terrified of losing his companions to the coming violence. But some battles must be fought, no matter how much Pieter longs for safety. And if he can’t overcome his fear, his hesitation could be deadlier than any evil spell.

Danger lurks while ancient powers sleep. If Pieter and his friends can’t stop them from waking, the entire world will pay the price….

Outstanding

Peter continues on without Dez and Khan trying to find his place in the world with his dragon. Another amazing dragon adventure that Ava brings to life. With strong characters, action, a budding romance and of course magic. Amelia does an amazing job of bringing the characters to life in her narration. Couldn’t stop listening. Will definitely get the next book in the series.

Excellent

A story full of magic, dragons, courage & evil. Such great characters and plenty of action. I think my favorite character was Ziggy. Her bouncy personality & wit was awesome. Peter became involved with Ziggy and Rosa after Ziggy saved him from the kings soilders. He then helped them save Spider, a dragon who was captured and was being tortured for information. Their adventure was a wild ride and made for a great story. Perfect for any fantasy lover.

Great book

This was a great book. There is something about dragons. Peter really grew up in this book and was able to use his magic better. He made friends with the girls and they found the dragon eggs. I can’t wait for the next book.

epic dragonrider story

Having grown up loving the dragon riders of Pern books, I'm thrilled to find an author who is able to pull me into their dragon world like this author does. Love the story, the characters and the narrator does an amazing job as well.

Facing the Tyrant King

After the bitter war they have just come through, the young dragon rider Pieter is having a difficult time adjusting. His dragon, Gloriox, will do whatever possible to help him heal, but it seems things just won’t settle down. When they travel to Chamenos, they discover that the troubles have already begun. Gloriox’s niece has been captured, and all of the other dragons are gone. Now the search is on to find Gloriox’s niece. They will have to face the tyrant king’s dark magic and this time Pieter may be the only one who can stop him. Is Pieter ready for another battle? Will his weak magic strengthen to meet the challenge?

I just love dragon stories! Gloriox has quite a personality and, of course, he is my favorite. The narrator for the audiobook version is Amelia Hugh. She does an excellent job with the voices to make it easy for the listener to get an accurate idea of what each character is like and to feel the tension of the storm raging around them and the difficulties they encounter. It helps to set the mood and is an enjoyable, hands-free way to “read” the exciting book.

A Building Hero’s Journey and Emotional Magic

This book starts out very simply, where the hero believes he is facing one task, but it soon mushrooms into something much larger and darker than he anticipated. The author does an excellent job creating and describing this fantasy world. I love it when authors can make a mythic world come to life as she did. This book follows the path of the classic hero's journey, and I loved the allies our hero picked up along the way, including a romantic interest! The book had a few surprising twists and turns, which I always love to see in fiction. I'm a voracious reader, so I like it when an author takes me down a path I was not expecting. I particularly like the bit about Ziggy and Spider, as well as the surprise about the villain at the end. Everything goes much deeper and broader than Pieter and his tiny band of allies could imagine. This world is magical. Actually, it has different types, and I was fascinated by the type that Pieter learned about early in the story based on powerful emotions. What a great concept! The ending brilliantly set up the next book in the story, and I can't wait to start listening to it. The narrator did a fantastic job of giving distinct voices to each of the characters. I loved how characters from a particular region have Scottish accents! The dragon characters were as well done as the human ones. I particularly liked Pieter's dragon Gloriox, who certainly comes across as a wise old soul with much affection and compassion for his young human rider.

I want more of this world.

I enjoyed this story, I really liked the depth of characters which were enhanced by the narrator. The story had a couple of really good twists and turns that weren't jarring, they felt true and although unexpected were not surprising.
excellent narration, the characters voices were fitting and fun. I want to read more of this world.
