Publisher's summary

Marriage of convenience? More like marriage of inconvenience. Especially when it turns deadly.

Ellery Cross did what she had to do to save her family from ruin. She married a man she wasn’t in love with. Worse, she married a man she knew nothing about.

But Ellery eventually learns all she needs to know about her husband. And sticking around is not an option.

As part of the Harper Security Ops self-defense and tactical training unit, Kane Ramsey spends his days teaching people how to fight back. He promises to teach Ellery the same, even if he’s the one who wants to protect her.

In a perfect world, Ellery and Kane would live happily ever after.

But she won’t be distracted by dreams of a better tomorrow. Ellery has enough to worry about right now. And getting involved with Kane would not only be foolish, it could also be deadly for both of them.

Fantastic

I loved Ellory and Kane’s story and both narrator’s brought their story to life! I didn’t know what to expect with the forced to marry someone plot and how it would work out for one of the HSO men. But in try A.K. Evans fashion she wrote a story that hooked me from the very beginning!

Harper Security keeps getting better and better!

Those men at Harper Security Ops will have you falling in love over and over. Kane is hands down one of my favs. He fierce protectiveness over Ellery from the moment they meant is swoon worthy. Such a big, burly teddy bear and just what Ellery needed to see her to the other side of her ordeal. Ellery was willing to risk it all to save her family and did just that until she couldn’t. Kane came into her life just when she needed him to and saved her from what was sure to be a gruesome future. Narrators were absolutely amazing! They brought Kane and Ellery to life perfectly!

Ellery and Kane are perfect for this Series!!!

I love to hear Jason Clarke and Meg Sylvan. The both can express the situation through the words and help you feel the scene as it unfolds!

Wow, this series keeps getting better and better and I think this one is in close running for my favorite in this series! I have enjoyed every book in this Harper Security series so far but this book brings something special to the story and I know it is the characters themselves that do that.
I love how strong Ellery is by leaving the life that she has known for so long and going somewhere new. Going to Steele Ridge, Ellery knew she could get the training she needed to protect herself from her husband and his goonies if and when they came after her. She just didn’t expect to find Kane.
Kane notices her when she walks into Harper Ops for training and couldn’t stop thinking about her. She didn’t explain her story but Kane knew he would do anything he could to protect her from whatever she needed.
Ellery finally realizes that Kane is someone special but now she has to figure out how to get away from her husband permanently to be able to move forward. Can she separate herself from someone so ruthless without anyone getting hurt?
If you have not read HSO, you should! These don’t need to be read in order but the characters throughout all the books intertwine so it would help to know who is who but the books don’t build off of one another!
