Publisher's summary

Can town librarian Lily Dixon and MMA bad boy Reese Cooper keep their love affair a secret in small town Iowa?

Braden, Iowa is the last place on earth Reese Cooper wanted to be, but a devastating injury in the octagon forces the MMA fighter back to the small town he once called home. He barely steps foot on Main Street before he is reunited with Lily Dixon, the town librarian and the girl who possessed his heart since they were in kindergarten.

Every day in Braden is the same for Lily Dixon. That is until Reese Cooper walks back into her life. With his chiseled, perfect body and dreamy blue eyes, he steals her heart just like he did when they were kids. His kisses, his touch, are far better than any fantasy she's ever had about him. Is she willing to risk everything when her preacher father finds out about her love affair with the town bad boy? And what will happen when Reese goes back to Vegas, leaving her alone in Braden without him?

the preacher's daughter falls for the bad boy...

Town librarian, and the preacher's daughter, Lily Dixon has always obeyed her father and done the right thing. She's never confessed that she always had a huge crush on the town's bad boy. MMA fighter, Reese Cooper is back in town to recuperate after his last fight left him injured. He's always had a crush on Lily and he intends to explore his feelings for the town good girl...except they have to sneak around because her father will definitely not approve. There are so many secrets that can come between them but will they let them?
Good story of forgiveness, standing up for what's right and unconditional love.

Extremely sweet with a helluva happy ending!

Extremely sweet with a helluva happy ending! I listened to this in audiobook. The narrator was good and kept the story moving with a great flow. So this sounds sort of cliche’. Sweet and meek librarian and the bad boy MMA fighter falls in love. Reese returns home from Vegas for therapy and runs into Lily, the town librarian. Right from jump the tension between these two is high. The problem is, her father is the pastor and has forbidden her to see Reese. Naturally they can’t stay away from each other and this makes the angst go through the roof. Reese has so much potential to stay in Braden and has all but promised Lily he will stay when one day, BOOM! He has to go back to Vegas for an unexpected fight. He isn’t able to talk, let alone explain why he has to leave to Lily before he has to go. Well, Lily has something she needs to tell him too but can’t bring herself to talk to him because she is heartbroken. So now we have some really big secrets being held back. So, I know I already said there is a HEA, and it is a beautiful HEA, but I had a little bit of a hard time with the way Lily acted when Reese took off. She seemed to be a stronger girl, or I was hoping for that, but I was a little turned off by her near the end of the book. However, if you are looking for a sweet, small town romance with a gorgeous HEA, this is a great book for that and I highly recommend it!

second chance

Small towns are great for the rumor mills. Reece goes home to rehab his shoulder. Lilly is the preacher's daughter. What can go wrong? good read and romance.

Loved this story!!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Chaz Allen did a wonderful job narrating this book. This was my first book listened to or even read by Tricia Andersen. I enjoyed the characters and the story line.

Good

Innocent librarian who’s always carried a torch for a misunderstood bad boy who left town as a boy and came back as a man and a MMA fighter. It sounds improbable but it’s a good story.
Narration was good

Good story but needs a stronger heroine

First, Chaz Allen is good- although the book follows both Reese and Lily’s POV, there’s only him narrating and he is a pretty good at representing both male and female characters. However, having a female narrator would be great. Additionally, the narrator has a slightly older voice than I would have imagined for any of the characters. But he had great pacing and was able to differentiate between voices.

Overall, especially in the beginning, this was a sweet book. Reese is a MMA fighter who has always loved Lily but they were never able to even explore a relationship because her father was against it. Fast forward many years, he comes back to town to recover from an injury and meets with Lily, who is now the librarian. As adults, they now have the opportunity to get together, as long as Lily can go against her father’s wishes and Reese can overcome him reputation. The relationship actually progresses really quickly- Reese knows what he wants and both admit to being in love with each other pretty early in the book. So, we get to see how they overcome obstacles to their HEA. Reese had a difficult childhood that really extended into how he was in a relationship and I have to admit that I didn’t like how weak Lily was as a person. Communication errors (that should have been easily prevented) and small town oppression provided the angst in the book and I have to admit that I enjoyed the last quarter of the book less than the earlier bit, until, of course, the HEA. Overall, worth a listen!

When the bad boy returns and finds he still has feelings for the preacher’s daughter can they overcome the obstacles that come their way to a happily ever after. I enjoyed this book and it’s ups and downs. I felt the narrator did a good job on this book.

Enjoyed it but not the female lead

Narrator did a good job and I liked his voice, but he didn’t quite fit the story for me. So, the rating is mostly based on that. I’d listen to other books by this narrator.

I was enjoying this until Lily was a complete moron. I was fine with the basic writing and Lily being too much of a mouse. Reese is a MMA fighter in Vegas, he gets injured and returns to his hometown. He’s always been in love with Lily and she has loved him, but for some reason they never told the other. Now that he’s back in town the two very quickly get involved. Lily is a mousy, virginal, preacher’s daughter librarian. I wasn’t exactly a fan of her, but I was giving her the benefit of the doubt. I liked Reese okay, but he wasn’t exactly using common sense a lot of the time, but he is really sweet with Lily. Lily and Reese don’t have things easy; things don’t go so good due to the small minded people in their hometown, her awful preacher father, and Reese’s MMA world cause issues. I enjoyed the story for the most part, but then Reese was stupid and then Lily was a complete moron. Spoilers Spoilers! To even think of marrying that man and letting him paw all over her; nope nope nope. It just ruined the story for me; sorry. Lily just let it go too far. This probably would’ve been a 3.5 rating if Lily was a stronger willed character. Very disappointed that this was added. Entertaining story otherwise.
