Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Carrie Ann Ryan continues her magical paranormal series where a town keeps its secrets, but an aging curse might just be their downfall.

The Christopher curse is one of legend - so old that every new generation knows they will be touched by it. With every spell muttered, every magical pull needed to save her town, Laurel Christopher knows she’s one step closer to burning to ash and leaving those she loves behind. She’ll fight with all she has to protect her people - and the man she loves - but she might not have enough strength left to save herself.

Jaxton Dark lost his best friend to the necromancer attacking Ravenwood but refuses to lose his mate to a curse that could take them both. He’s well aware of the loss calling them, but before he can stand up for those he loves, a betrayal cuts him to the core.

Sacrifice was always an inevitability when it comes to the curse that threatens their fate. Yet it’s only when the darkness makes a subtle and surprising move that star-crossed lovers Laurel and Jaxton will truly find out the meaning of who they could be and what they must give up to survive.

The fight continues

The fight continues in Ravenwood in this second book of this series!

This was a good read that I enjoyed from the start. Where the battle continues and the storyline picks up at the end of book one, I would recommend reading book one first so that one knows what is going on and the relationships of the supporting characters that play a large role in the continuation on this tale.

Laurel, member of the fire witch coven, starts the story unable to use her powers completely due to the curse that has been placed on her family. She has resigned herself with the knowledge that in order to break the curse, she will most likely have to die. She continues to fight and mourn the one that she thought was her mate until she accepts that she possibly had not found her mate until she opens herself up to her mate being right in front of her all along in Jaxton.

Jaxton, leader of the hawks, continues to fight along with the others of the magical creatures of the town. He is torn between protecting his hawks and his being drawn to Laurel. He fights for her and those that matter against evil and convinces Laurel that he is her mate.

This was an action packed read that I was hooked on from the start. I needed to know what was going to happen next and with the twists that were thrown in I now can't wait to see what happens in the last installment of this series.

Overall, this was a a good read. The audio version of this book that was performed by Aiden Snow and Victoria Mei was an enjoyable listening experience. This pair did a great job bringing this story to life. The important thing is that I recommend this book to others.

Dusk Unveiled

Laurel is cursed. For every spell she does she burns from the inside out. Jaxton is the leader of the wing and a hawk shifter. Boy, does Fate though curve balls at these too. While this on didn’t make me cry like the first Ravenwood Coven book did, there were several heart stopping moments. I adore Jaxton and Laurel was a badass. I really hope that we get to visit Ravenwood again after the last book, because I love these characters so much.

Once again the narration by Aiden Snow and Victoria Mei brought this story to another level. They really know how to bring the characters to life.

Excellent story and great narration!

This is my first Carrie Ann Ryan novel, but it won’t be my last. There is so much being produced in the fantasy genre now, that it can be difficult to find the good stuff. This is the good stuff. The story was unique and creative. Her writing style is not just quality, but pleasant to read. It was a great novel coupled with really good narration. I highly recommend.

Good second book in the series

I enjoyed the second book in the Ravenwood coven series but not as much as the first one. I loved Jaxton but did not connect as well to Laurel. Aiden Snow and Victoria Mei were once again great narrators though there was an adjustment for me at first because they’re the same narrators from the first book but voicing for different characters. Similar to the first book, this one includes non-stop action with some side moments of romance. Jaxton is the alpha hawk shifter and one of the the cleaner/fixers in the paranormal friendly town of Ravenwood. Laurel is a fire witch who is cursed and as a result, her fire is killing her. Jaxton and Laurel are fated mates but Laurel has been resisting the bond because of the curse and her fear of killing Jaxton when the curse takes her. The book has the same main characters from the first book with some new characters added into the mix. The book includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, secrets, betrayal, snark, laughs, and love. While this is a standalone, there is an overarching storyline so it is important to read the series in order. I will definitely keep reading the series.

LOVE THIS STORY ♥️♥️♥️

I found a new growly narrator that I love. Aiden Snow was pure perfection as Jaxton. This is such a great story. My heart was breaking for Laurel and Jaxton and then it got put back together. Thank you. Talk about girl power! So much action--Oriel is not playing games. However, the Coven together just keeps getting stronger an stronger. And who doesn't love a take charge Alpha and his woman who is his equal in every way. I'm on the edge of my couch just waiting for the final book. I can only imagine what's in store for Rowan and Ash. Loving this trilogy. Carrie Ann Ryan can write any genre and it will be a solid and captivating story.

Laurel and Jaxton

Since I listened to Dawn Unearthed I have been looking forward to this one, would the coven be able to protect the town, would they be strong enough if Laurel doesn't use her magic? They may have defeated Faith, a necromancer in the previous book but a new and even stronger necromancer, this time with the power of fire, is now leading the attacks.

In this second visit to Ravenwood, we meet everyone who survived the previous attacks but this story concentrates on Laurel and Jaxton, a fire witch and a hawk shifter, they are mates but they haven’t mated because of Laurel's family curse. Every time she uses her fire magic she is one step closer to her death and she believes that if they were mated the Christopher curse would kill Jaxton too.

Because of the curse, Laurel tries to keep everyone at a distance, even her brother who is also a victim of the Christopher curse. She's been through so much but she's strong and keeps fighting and despite searching unsuccessfully for years for a way to defeat the curse she continues to fight but now believes that she hasn't long left. Jaxton's determination to help Laurel may have stopped him from pushing her to form a mating bond but he refuses to let her go or to fight the curse alone. His love is strong and he's prepared to go to any lengths to keep her safe. But the curse and the necromancer aren't all Jaxton has to contend with, he's the leader of the Ravenwood Wing, the elders of which fear his alliance with the witches and Laurel in particular, and do all they can to keep them apart.

This is an ongoing storyline and does end on a cliffhanger so I would recommend that you listen to the books in the order they are released but be aware that you won't be able to listen to just one because the more we discover the more we need to know.

The narration of this book by Victoria Mei and Aiden Snow is so very well done, most of the characters were already familiar and recognisable - these two work so well together.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Great wo

I have enjoyed listening to Carrie Ann's paranormal romances, and the Ravenwood Coven is a new favorite. The story is intriguing and grabbed my attention from the beginning. She did a great job of crafting the characters and the world they live in, and I can't wait to get to the next installment. Aiden Snow and Victoria Mei did a fantastic job conveying the chemistry and emotion throughout the story.

Dusk Unveiled

Dusk Unveiled (Ravenwood Coven 2) by Carrie Ann Ryan
4.5 Maple Leaf Review

Laurel is tired of not being able to help her coven or keep the town safe because of her curse. Jaxton knows that Laurel is so much more than she allows herself to be. Jaxton is determined to make Laurel see that they can not only break her curse but also be together the way they were always meant to be.

Jaxton and Laurel have been through so much together that I am so happy that they were able to get past the heartaches and roadblocks and finally come together. I fell in love with Jaxton in the first Ravenwood book and knew he was going to be fiercely loyal and protective. I knew that there was more to Laurel than just the curse. I can not wait for the conclusion to the Ravenwood Coven series.

Dusk Unveiled is a paranormal, friends-to-lovers, fated mates romance told in the dual first-person point of view and ends in a happily ever after.

Return to Ravenswood

This is the second of the series. It is Laurel’s story she’s the fire witch of the coven but unfortunately has been cursed because of something from long ago that actually cursed her family linage. The more she helps with her powers the more she is literally burning from the inside out.

Jaxton Dark is the wing leader and falcon shifter who also knows that Laurel is his mate even if she won’t accept it and avoids him at all costs. He can’t stand that she is hurting and he can’t help and is determined to help his mate any way he can whether she wants it or not.

I loved this book it was amazing and the story drew me in and I couldn’t stop listening and I’m looking forward too the next one of the series.

Narration is great.

I really really enjoyed this second book in the Ravenwood Coven series. This series has all the paranormal elements with all the best romantic elements. I read the book and then have listened to it on audible. The narration is great and this was a great listen.
