Publisher's summary

In the Virginia countryside outside of Washington, DC, Addy Wentworth was on a mission to make a new life for herself.

When the opportunity arose, she settled in horse and wine country. Experiencing more than her fair share of tragedy and loss, she had plans for her future, one where failure wasn’t an option. And not just because people and cows were counting on her. She’d poured everything she had into her struggling vineyard, because once she’s in, she’s all in.

After giving himself wholly to the job for 10 years, Crew Vega was done. He’d fulfilled his commitment, done his duty, gone above and beyond to settle the score. And the score was high. All he had to do was train his replacements, and he’d be out for good. He had a plan, one that didn’t include getting involved with his new neighbor, a woman who not only kept cows for pets, but treasured her employees as family, and understood him better than anyone ever had before. But then he learned a high level CIA target being investigated for treason was keeping tabs on her...and he never planned on that. Like everything Crew Vega did in life, when he goes in, he’s all in.

Includes Until the Tequila, a bonus novella from from The Killers series.

WELL COLOR ME WOWED.. & A NEW FAN

This tender and sweet suspenseful romance was very entertaining and a great surprise from a new-to-me author who totally hooked me in with this weighty, well-paced, full-length story. And with a cast of colourful kooky characters.. with sizzles and sweet first meets.. with intrigue, danger and suspicion.. with passion, pleasures and sweet sentiments.. and with a drool-worthy alpha hero. Addy has a sad backstory, but she’s independent and looks forward rather than back, takes a chance and buys a vineyard in Virginia that called to her soul.. and now she’s working hard and reaping the rewards.. financially, emotionally, spiritually and with a close group of employees/friends (and a few pet cows!!) While walking with Scarlet (a cow) checking broken fences and looking for Harry (another cow), Addy meets Crew, her mysterious new neighbour.. a handsome grumpy alpha type who wants privacy not cows on his land.

For ten long years Crew has stayed ‘dark’ as a CIA assassin of bad men.. however now he’s retired in Virginia so he, and his team mate Grady, can train the new ‘dark’ recruits in the confines of their remote monitored acres. Then his cameras pick up Harry the cow strolling in his fields!! But it’s not the friendly cow Crew should be worried about.. oh no, no no, it’s the beautiful, feisty, independent owner who he must deliver Harry back to. Because she’ll be a distraction and a temptation that’ll wake and shake his well-ordered dull world. She’ll also sizzle and satisfy some steamy sexy desires. She’ll go looking for answers to long-dead secrets that’ll unite them - but it will also put her front and center on the KGB’s radar and bring CIA traitors dangerously close. And she’ll give him a priceless love that’s worth coming home to.

The dual POV by Jason was perfect and on point as usual and you can always trust that he will breathe life into the cast of characters and storyline (...❤️ you Jason). Kit Swann was a narrator I personally hadn’t heard of before but wow, she rocked the vocals with all the characters.. well done you.

WORTH A CREDIT? Yup, there’s a wee bit of humor, heat, heart, he man alpha antics to a quick-start nice stable romance that ebbed and flowed deliciously well through some tense suspenseful times. The bonus Novella was very enjoyable too.

Great story but...

Great story. But the sex scenes are over the top. I love a good story with romance thrown in. What I don’t need are chapter and verse about what and how the couple turn each other on. Please!!! That is not romance. It is just sex.

Loved this story!!!

I enjoyed this sweet, sexy, and suspenseful story! This was my first time listening to a Brynne Asher book, and it didn't disappoint. Jason Clarke and Kitt Swan narrate this romantic suspense book. This is book one of The Killers Series.

Addy has owns her winery out in the countryside outside of Washington DC. She is surrounded by lots of friends that work for her at the winery. She also raises cows on her farm. She had been needing to repair part of her fence, and one of her cows gets out. She then meets her new neighbor, is sexy, hot, and little bit mysterious. Crew Vega knows things about Addy's past that she has kept secret. When these two get together, there is all kinds of spark!

Jason Clarke and Kitt Swan were fabulous on this audiobook. Jason Clarke's portrayal of hot, protective alpha make, Crew, is spot on, and I loved the deep growl in his voice. Kitt Swan was a new narrator to me, and I really enjoyed her portrayal of Addy, and all her hidden secrets.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, and am looking forward to more in the series. In the audio, there is a bonus novella Until the Tequila at the end!

SPECTACULAR!!!

I am thoroughly captivated and in LOVE with this story! The characters are rich and developed and the atmosphere is intricate and detailed. Oh...and the bedroom scenes are wonderfully steamy without being vulgar. I love the balance of need that both characters have for each other. The way Brynne Asher describes the struggles, weaknesses, and love that both characters have for each other is heartwarming, heartbreaking, and wonderful! I love how she is able to describe a strong male character without making him domineering or controlling. It’s a refreshing change to the slew of brutish alpha characters that fill so many books. I don’t know what I’m going to do while I wait for the other books in the series to be written!! I can’t WAIT to read Grady and Asa’s stories - especially Grady’s!!! Please hurry, Brynne!!! And, thank you for writing such a wonderful story!

Good story

This was a good story - entertaining, suspenseful and at times, fun. My only complaint is the frequent, arduous sexual encounters. I'm not particularly opposed to graphic sex in a novel - but it should enhance the story - not take it over. In this case, it's so overdone it becomes redundant and juvenile. Brynne Asher can tell a good story - she doesn't need to go so overboard on the physical relationships.

Narration was good - especially Kit Swann. Jason Clarke was ok - but tried a little too hard to sound gruff and macho.

All of this being said - I was entertained and will most likely continue the series.

Modern Harlequin Romance

If you're looking for a modern harlequin romance where there's a story created around sex scenes, this book is for you. If you're looking for a story with character development, character continuity, and plot depth, this story is not for you.

I skipped most of the long sex scenes just to get through this one.

Wow- impressed. can't wait for the next story

I loved this book. I loved it so much I will be buying it in Kindle as well so I can actually read it. It is hilarious and the chemistry is smoking hot!
the narration was done well. It took me a minute to get into Jason Clarke's parts and listening to Kit change her voice as well. but once i was a few chapters in i didn't notice and I ended up really liking Kit's voice. and Jason Clarke's deep and raspy tones.

Exciting, Sexy, Sweet

I have recently discovered Brynne Asher books and I'm thrilled! This story was everything. Crew and Addie are the main characters but there are several other fun and interesting supporting characters. There was drama, mystery, love, sex, friendship, family and comedy! I can't ask for more! Oh and the men are alpha with big hearts. Looking forward to more in this series.

Suspension of Disbelief? you'll need tons of it.

The male MC is a bad fantasy of a mysterious super hero assassin - like the "I can't tell you because I'd have to kill you" type. He's also overly controlling and you'll need blinders to try to avoid looking at all the red flags. The female MC is TSTL (some mysterious possibly KGB bad guy is after me, lets go google his name! ) and seems like she was invented for some abusers fantasy. She thinks things like "he has his way with me and I love it" all the time, usually right after he does or says something bordering on abusive (never quite there, but by the end, he has control over her financially, emotionally, physically and she's talking about thanking him (with sexual favors) for paying off her 2.6 million dollar business loan). But that's totally understandable because he's super-rich from being a political assassin for hire? Also it's a bit icky the way he thinks about her as his reward for 10 years of doing high profile secret dirty work.

There's lots of sex. Not necessarily realistic or even exceptionally sexy sex. Probably more orgasms than conversations between the two characters.

The pet cows are the best part. Team Harry all the way.

The lead female character is not likable. At all.

I normally will listen all the way through before forming an opinion. I just couldn’t with this book. I returned it actually. Sorry for the rant below.

This is 2021 not 1985, when feminism was a very dirty word. This is the year this book should have been written in. The female character has zero backbone when it comes to standing up for yourself. Many times listening to her side, I would roll my eyes. It almost feels like a man wrote this, thinking this is what women are and/or want. Don’t get me wrong, I love a strong male. I also love a strong female lead too. Someone I can identify with. This character is why men think we are the weaker sex.
Give the male character a run for his money with a strong personality driven female. This one has the depth of toast.
That being said, both narrators are wonderful! I will definitely listen to them again.
