Publisher's summary

Million-copy bestselling author Jodi Ellen Malpas is back with a scorching Regency series, perfect for fans of Bridgerton.

It's 1814 and nineteen‑year‑old Eliza Melrose is about to be launched into London's high society—much to her dismay. The last thing she wants is a husband.

Eliza's "misplaced" thirst for adventure, knowledge and the creative word is a bone of contention for her father, who battles endlessly to keep her curiosity and ambitions in check, for women are not meant to ask questions or give opinions in matters of business.

But then she meets the youngest son of the late Duke of Chester, a disgraced nobleman who is shrouded in mystery and proving quite impossible to resist...

Sexy, scandalous and utterly unpauseable, this is the Regency novel you've been waiting for!

Beautifully written

with this being Jodi's first ever period piece, she did a phenomenal job!! I was enthralled with this story. The narration was done sublimely as well. Have always been a fan of Jodi Ellen Malpas and this is yet another reason why. Thank you for bringing us to a new world of Jodi!

Too Much Dithering.

The female protagonist is CONSTANTLY thinking how kind and gentle her father is, which is ridiculous, as her father is putting his wealth and his wife social ladder climbing first before his daughter’s wellbeing and feelings. He’s forcing her into an arranged marriage and clearly the only thing that will change the future is the Duke “ruining” Eliza or Eliza “ruining” herself. Yes, there’s a happy ending, but holy geebuz it was painful to get to. Eliza, your father is not a good man.

SKIP!! Bad story, very boring.

I have read books by this author before and the stories really kept my interest but not this one. Perhaps choose another book, this one was dissapointing.

I must be missing something. this is not so good.

definitely not a regency. this is a contemporary romance in dresses. she climbs UP a drain spout in a silk dress and cloak t?!? loses her maidenhood up against a wall with zero pain? says bloody hell ànd bugger it because she lived in the country. mmm. .. nope. I'm not an accuracy person but she's all over the place. mom and dad too.
