Publisher's summary

They survived annihilation. But the real danger has only just begun....

When Molly, Colton, and their group of high school students narrowly escape a field trip gone wrong, they return home to find their town in shambles. An EMP has devastated the world. And life has been reduced to a daily battle for survival….

After a derailed train throws what’s left of the town into chaos, Diego, the father of one of Molly's students, quickly takes charge. At first, he seems determined to help the survivors and clean up the train's wreckage. But it soon becomes clear that he has a sinister motive of his own for taking over. And Molly is certain he can’t be trusted….

Things become much worse after a failed attempt by the local police has Diego seizing control and drawing a line in the sand. It isn’t safe for anyone, and Molly is ready to head to the woods, but not without all her students. Colton might be the marine, but she isn’t leaving anyone behind.

Molly will do anything to protect her students. But can she lead them to safety when the entire world has fallen into chaos?"

A make you wonder book

This book is about a group of survivors after an EMP. In the first book A teacher, her students, the bus driver are on field trip and are trapped at a nearby prison. This book continues after they escape and with a few new characters they must navigate the realities of coming home. A train had derailed and the fire burns uncontrollably while they search for family and loved ones. The town needs help and one man schemes to take over killing people who do support his agenda . The police department is decimated and the remaining police department leaves town. Our hero’s know they must help the survivors with limited resources they do not give up.
I thought this 2nd book was a great continuation of the story as we learned more about their home town and their ability to continue to fight for not only themselves but for others. I grew to like the various characters.
The narrator was perfect as he brought the story to life.

Creating a new Family-In an Apocalypse

As Molly and her students discover, a family does not have to be the one you are born into. It can be the one that you develop during hardships because you all care deeply about one another. As the Apocalypse continues to play out in their hometown, Molly and some of her students are discovering that the family they were born into is not necessarily the one that cares for them the most. Their teacher, bus driver, and fellow students are more a family and care about them more. Their trials and tribulations are sometimes fairly harsh. This book can be read as a stand alone however is better following Book one of the series. Looking forward to Book 3.

yay yay fast paced and action packed

I’m so glad Jenna stood up to her dad. I loved how fast paced and action packed this story was. I was sad not to read about the guy Santi at the end of book 1.
I do think that anarchy happened too quickly, 1 day? Too soon. Even 3 days would be too soon.
But the plot twist at the very end? Blown away, and now I have to know what happens in the next book.

Okay, this book was well written, it kept my attention and I appreciated the character development.
I loved listening to Andrew Tell, that man's voice is so easy to listen to.

While I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review I did purchase my own copy of the audio book and ebook.

The story continues

This is book two in this series and you have to read book one for the backstory. An EMP has taken out everything while Molly and Colton are escorting some near-juvenile delinquents to a prison for a scared straight trip. This book picks up right where the last one left off and they return home to find things are bad, they are very bad. When a train derails and the father of one of Molly’s students steps up, it looks promising, but looks are deceiving and he soon becomes more of a problem than a solution. Molly becomes more of a leader. There is danger and not all of it is from the actual EMP. It’s brought out the worst in some people and Molly is determined to protect her group. Fast paced, edge of your seat story. Book three is right around the corner.

Great Addition to the Series

This second installation to the series was well written and kept me entertained from start to finish thanks to the well written character work and story line. The narrator did a fantastic job of bringing the story to life and made this as fun to listen to as it was to read.

Lame

Characters made really dumb decisions and for the most part were a bunch of pansies, including but not limited to Colton who was supposed to be a former marine.
