Publisher's summary

Dexter Truitt ruined my life.

His impossibly improbable act set off a chain of events I couldn’t make up if I tried, each one stealing a little more from me.

My relationship. My business. My reputation.

But even bad times have to come to an end. I thought that was the case when Valerie slid onto the barstool next to mine and asked me to buy her a drink.

She was gorgeous. Driven. Smart.

And didn't know who in the hell I was.

Didn't know why every other woman in town avoided me like the plague.

Valerie was a ray of light when I needed it most, and I couldn’t get enough of her. Being with her made me think I could have it all again.

Showed me I could have more.

All I had to do was reach out and take it.

Except all good things must come to an end, too.

And our ending was one I didn't see coming.

I had my doubts

this turned out to be a great listen. I usually don't let people reviews make or break me but one did make me think. so of course the story seam a little far fetched that someone with a few hundred thousand followers could ruin a business but I can totally see it! Jay's a small business owner on the cuffs to growing to the next phase. as a small business owner I get it. all it takes is one bad review from wrong person. that's way the world is now with everything online people will believe a lie over the truth any day! But I'm glad I decided to listen. cute story. just long enough with a little twist here and there to make it interesting.

This never really happens, but ok.

In New York, a bunch of women decide to blacklist a guy for an apparent act of cheating without any proof. Um, No! Not in my world. If so my ex would have been blacklisted from many states, because there would have been proof and lots of it. Even though the idea is improbable, and so is the heroines thoughts to use him for her own gain, I think the rest of the story is cute. Props to the narrators for another fantastic performance.

Cute story line

This was a sweet story. It didn't linger, and flowed well. This goes to show never judge a book by its cover. When the real Jay Reed get the shaft, it takes the help of a good women the make his life right again. If you liked Mr Moneybags this is a must read to get the other side of the story.

Jay and Valerie

Loved this story even with the cliche and over dramatic moments because this writer just makes it work. Beautiful job

Awesomely tied

This was a perfect hero club book. This was so much more. And if you have read the books then you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t then you should but either way this was a very good book. I loved all of it. A perfect book to get lost in. I have nothing negative to say though I wish there was more about her dad cause he needed to be destroyed in the business world, he’s just a horrid man.

meh.

So I've enjoyed the Hero Club because we've been navigating an established world with a bunch of new authors. Teddy brought it, as always. Summer did well, but the story itself just didn't hold my attention. The only character I actually seemed invested in was Jay's mom (and I don't even remember her name, if that says anything). It wasn't a BAD book, it just wasn't particularly memorable.

Decent Story

After reading the last book in the series, I had high hopes for this book. There were just a few things that drove me crazy and kept the book at 2.75 - 3 Stars for me.

1. A guy being flagged as a 'Dirty Liar' in New York City by a social media girl with less than 1 million followers could blacklist a guy from hooking up with any girl in New York City is completely unrealistic. Too many people travel in and out of NYC to have a social media post turn a regular business owner into a pariah, especially more than a few days after the incident.

2. The sleep with him so he will immediately marry me is a wee bit unrealistic.

3. With the exception of two people, all characters were truly good, even if their actions were meant to destroy a person based on an overheard conversation.

I did like the story and both main characters but the story became to flowery towards the end. I know that the author was trying to portray the h as a kind person who could see beyond the facade people put up but it just felt like Hallmark on steroids.

Would I read something else by this as author... Yes
Was there heat... Yes
Was there descriptive sex... Yes but not overly so.
