Not Recommended

The first book of the duet showed promise, but the second book went downhill. Don’t waste your money. Just a weird story. Weird in a bad way. This book was so close to being good, but no. Good narration, but stupid story.

Please Note this is Part 1 of 2

I was disappointed in the ending of this book until I realized that book 2: a debt repaid actually concludes the story. The male characters are pretty dark, including Easton but as long as you recognize this is fantasy and don’t actually fall in love w a sadistic stalker in real life, you should be ok.

An alpha couple trying to best the other

This is my first Clarissa Wild book and I think it's pretty good. Be warned, some details may be triggers. I personally don't find it too disturbing, but if you're sensitive towards captor/captive, "selling" a daughter, etc., then please go on to another book.

The couple met years before and their initial meeting was a cute flirtation, but was ruined by Charlotte's high-brow father. He seems to like caging his fiery daughter at any chance he can get so he could use her to his advantage for the company. When Easton and Charlotte meet several times over the years, Easton was constantly reminded of how he's not of the privileged society and her reluctance to defend him added to his wounds.

In her mind, Charlotte was trying to protect herself as best as she could until she was able to break away from her father, even if it meant ignoring the one guy who seemed to not suffocate her. He interpreted her coldness as a spoiled rich princess and the only way he thinks he can hurt Charlotte's father is by "buying" her. He also hopes to punish Charlotte as well for not defending him in the previous encounters.

Easton's obsession to become richer than Charlotte's father made him very successful and he never forgot about the woman who hurt him. When he saw the opportunity, he made the offer to her father: die or give Charlotte to him. During their time together, Charlotte becomes irritable and desperate to get out of this new cage she's been confined to. Easton wants to break her and make her his mind and soul, however she fights it at every turn. He wants to give her the love and care she didn't get growing up in his own morbid way, but in order to do that, she needs to let go of her hurt caused by family.

There's an obvious attraction between them and Charlotte craves to be freed and be held at the same time. Her temper is as hot as her alpha husband; she won't back down even if he threatens her.

I applaud the narrators for this book. They voiced their main characters and supporting characters very well and distinctly. Wen Ross continues to impress me with his accents. I've heard him in The Bravta's Baby with his Russian accent and it's believable (to me, at least). He does sound like a younger version of Patrick Warburton or the guys from the Old Spice commercials, so I couldn't take Easton seriously. lol Kai Kennicott was pretty good and I liked how I could tell which character she was voicing. At times, she did sound like the actresses in the black-and-white romance dramas who overact their emotions, but it overall wasn't bad.

Be warned (again), this does end on a cliffhanger.

I don't think I'll be listening to the next book only because the feeling to move onto the next one and the anticipation of what's to come next was missing for me. Maybe I'll just read it if it comes out on Kindle. Overall, good job, Clarissa Wild!

Also, this is a duet narration like Renea Mason's books. :-) LOVE THESE KIND OF AUDIOBOOKS. It makes the stories more believable.

Wow!!!

Wow!!! What a dark twisted book. Easton has worked his way up in life to be where he is at today. Charlotte's dad owes a debt to Easton & they decide that Charlotte will be the way to pay the debt back. Charlotte's whole world is about to change with Easton. This is definitely an enemies to lovers book. I can't wait to see where the next book takes them. Clarissa Wild writes a very good & unique story that hooked me from the start. Now add Kai Kennicott & Wen Ross for narration & now you have an smoking hot audiobook. They bring the book to life. You can chemistry that is portrayed throughout the story. I can't wait to listen to the next book. Loved it!

WOW Just WOW

Kai Ken I city's voice is so sexy and his interpretation of the character was spot on. That man could read me the dictionary and I'd listen all day. He is that good. Wen Ross was perfect. Her tone pleasing to the ear and so believable. Only wish I could have the read "A Debt Repaid".
