Story
When her mother remarried and moved them to a town where a date meant hanging out at the Sonic, Laney figured that "boring" would have a whole new meaning. A new stepsister who despised her and a high school where she was the only topic of gossip were bad enough. But when she met the school counselor (and his terminal bad breath), she grew suspicious. Especially since he had wings that only she could see.

There are several things I've always known growing up as the alpha's daughter. The most important ones being: My twin brother Cord was the perfect choice as successor to our father. Mostly because I wanted nothing to do with being an alpha-in-training. I had the best friends a girl could ever ask for: Cord and Augie.

I've always been told I was the anomaly, the fluke, the only black bear they'd ever seen. Somehow, I know that's not true. The wolves have told me the Alpha over all the bears is headed this way. But they've sent me away so he won't see me. I'm a burden, a hindrance to the grizzlies, yet they keep a shock collar around my neck so I can't escape. On the wolf pack lands, I see someone approaching. A male - and he smells like home. Has someone come to save me?

Publisher's summary
Parents are always overreacting.
"Stay away from strangers," they say. "Don't go near the woods," they warn. And it's all so pointless until there's a tragic accident.
And here, there was a tragic accident. One that haunts me to this day. It still leaves me with a broken heart, missing my brother.
But this story? It's not about me.
It's about him.

Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction,” eating little and weighing herself five times a day. She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income.

Story
Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Story
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows.

A fast listen
I am not sure where to begin with this review. This is full of feels, there are some parts that I could have done with out, this is more my personal preference.
This was a pretty decent book, it was shorter than I thought it would be. There are parts that caught me off guard, it did have me on my edge of my seat. It was a fast listen for me.

Strange, but entertaining.
This was a strange little story, with religious overtones. It was not at all like the summary describes. It was entertaining and short. I listened to it in one sitting. But the only word I can use to describe it is STRANGE. The narrator was excellent.

didn't expect to cry
while I had some issues with the narration, I thought the take of angels and demons was very good. The ending really got me in my feelings though. Unexpected.

Interesting listen
4.25 stars
This is an interesting listen that can be done in one sitting. It was not what was expected based on the summary description. It took a bit to get into the storyline and warm to the narrator. This is definitely one enjoyable book for the teen crowd. I volunteered to listen to a copy of this audiobook.
