Publisher's summary

"With heart-pounding twists and sensual chemistry, this stand-alone is my favorite Aleatha Romig book yet!" (Pam Godwin, NY Times, WSJ, and USA Today best-selling author)

They say the price of freedom is learning that you have nothing left to lose.

There was a time when I had it all. Money. Power. Love. And in the blink of an eye, it was gone.

Along the road to my new life, I have a chance meeting with Cecilia Abernathy. Born to greatness, this American princess is out of my league. That doesn’t mean I don’t see her for the woman she is behind the headlines. In a rare glimpse I see not only her outward beauty, but her inner determination. I’m moved by her in ways I don’t allow myself to ponder.

Time passes, and I’m moving forward, persevering beyond my loss, and making a new name for myself. And then I’m given an assignment.

One job.

One quest.

If I succeed, my kingdom will be at hand.

If I fail, there will be no more chances.

Men like me aren’t saviors, and that isn’t my assignment. My mission is to find the daughter of one of the most powerful men in New York, in the country, and maybe the world. Find her and deliver her to her family’s rival.

Cecilia Abernathy has been kidnapped. All I have to do is exchange her current hell for another. And then I can walk away and claim my reward.

Has my taste of freedom made me willing to sell my soul for a kingdom?

Find out the answer in Kingdom Come, a dangerous forced-proximity stand-alone romance by New York Times best-selling author Aleatha Romig.

Greyson & Cecilia’s Mafia Romance!

Greyson & Cecilia’s Mafia Romance Doesn’t Disappoint! Cecilia Doesn’t Know If Greyson Is A Kidnapper Or Her Own Personal Savior When He Crashes Into Her Life, But It Is The Knowledge That Her Abduction Must Somehow Be An Inside Job That Has Her Most Concerned.

This is a standalone based in the Underworld Kings world which is a collection of books by various authors relating to the underworld and the characters that frequent The Ruin in Desolation, New York.

Fans will be thrilled to know that this book follows a character previously introduced in the Devil’s Series, a duet. Kyle O’Brien has a mysterious past and finds himself needing change. That series explains some of his story and propels his character forward.

Lorenzo Dellinger is a powerful businessman and the head of the ruthless Dellinger family of New York. His son, Dante Dellinger, and son-in-law, Barron Abernathy, help run the empire. Dellinger Hotels may be legit, but the family business includes some less than legal income streams as well.

Cecilia Abernathy, twenty-nine, hates being called a princess. The tabloids have always found her newsworthy even if most of what they print are lies. Her life is actually much more boring that the public is led to believe. Although Cecilia could sit back and live on her trust fund, she finds great reward in her career as a vice president at Dellinger Corporation. Between her Columbia degree and her rock solid determination, she has earned her position despite the rumors of nepotism. Cecilia’s mother had long warned her that there is a target on her back, preparing her for the eventuality of a kidnapping for ransom scenario. It is the reason she has always had bodyguards. Her mom promised that when it happened they would get her back no matter what it took.

Greyson Ingells, thirty-three, is experienced at starting over. He is no longer the Kyle O’Brien that was raised by his loving adoptive parents, nor the greedy man who felt entitled to everything New Orleans had to offer. He was given a chance to walk away and keep his life, assuming he could maintain a low profile. Others were not so lucky, though, and that guilt weighs heavily on him. But as time passes, he decides to begin the process of building back again. He loves power and money, and he hopes to one day attain his own kingdom. He quietly and patiently takes job after job, building a good reputation for himself while also collecting his fees. His laser-focused efforts don’t leave him much time for socializing, but he doesn’t feel like he is missing out.

Greyson is on the road much of the time, wherever his next job sends him, but San Diego is the place he now calls home. When Maxwell Tiller gives him a new job, he asks Greyson to take a leap of faith. Greyson isn’t in a position to refuse, and the woman involved has captured his attention. It seems that the tabloid’s favorite American princess, Cecilia Abernathy, has been kidnapped and put up for auction. Tiller wants Greyson to deliver Cecilia to him with the promise of a job if he succeeds. The chances of pulling off the job aren’t great, but that doesn’t stop Greyson from accepting.

When Greyson comes to Cecilia’s rescue, things just don’t add up. It appears someone has set him up as a fall guy and the questions keep mounting. Cecilia’s ordeal leaves her with a deficit of trust. She has no good reason to believe that Greyson is any better than her kidnappers, but she begins to wonder if he might just be her savior. Uncertain whether to deliver Cecilia to Tiller or to her family, Greyson must proceed cautiously. They hide out and lie low while he attempts to find some answers. The couple tries to stay a step ahead of danger, but quickly discover they are fighting another battle. Greyson says he isn’t a good man, but it doesn’t stop Cecilia from falling for him. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.

Wow! Greyson and Cecilia’s romantic suspense is a fast-paced steamy read that will have you on your toes. Greyson is a mysterious loner with a questionable history. He was once charmed by wealth and power, ruled by greed and narcissism. It should be a no-brainer when he secures Cecilia, but for once in his life he wants to do the right thing. He feels a connection with Cecilia, something he simply cannot ignore. She has awoken long-lost feelings that he never expected to experience again. Once the floodgates open, everything changes for him. Cecilia is a pillar of strength in spite of her vulnerable position. She is independent and not afraid to voice her opinions. She sees something in Greyson that he doesn’t seem to recognize in himself. And with him, she finally feels safe in spite of the physical and mental scars she carries.

Greyson and Cecilia’s mafia romance doesn’t disappoint. Cecilia doesn’t know if Greyson is a kidnapper or her own personal savior when he crashes into her life, but it is the knowledge that her abduction must somehow be an inside job that has her most concerned. Their story is wonderfully written. The plot is complex and carefully crafted. The characters are real. The story is told in first person. The POV alternates between Greyson and Cecilia. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

As for the audio, it is well-performed and consistent with the book.

Amazing Book!

What can I say, it's an Aleatha Romig book. It's an amazing story with great thought out characters. The plot is crazy but what do you expect from Aleatha. The narrators are amazing as well and bring the story to life. This book is definitely worth listening to.

Oh the Underworld

Oh Greyson and Cecilia!!! Who is Greyson from the underworld trying to rescue Cecelia? The twist and turns of this story are unbelievable! Who can you trust in the underworld, absolutely no one!!! Falling for your savior or is he your captor or your buyer? No one is who they are. Greyson & Cecilia shouldn’t fit but when they are a puzzle that fit together. Together they bring the brightness to such a dark world! You have to one click this one!

So suspenseful through the book.

I truly enjoyed Alexander’s narration. He was so intense and colorful as he delivered him the performance for Grayson in this book. The story itself was intense and anticipatory as I could not stop listening. While I also enjoyed Sara’s narration for Cecelia I think at times it was a little too perfect as it captured her strong talk but submissive ways. Overall an excellent story and it definitely kept my attention.

Another great Romig story!

I loved the story, with so much detail setting the scene, so you feel like you're there in a corner watching! My only criticism is the male narrator. He just wasn't my favorite, especially with the attempt at the female voice. Otherwise, I can proudly say I've been Aleatha'd again!

Awful

Okay, I am really sorry to have wasted this credit. I’ve tried to get into this book. I’ve liked others by this author but this is boring, no chemistry and the narrators aren't doing it for me. Hard pass.

Terrible narration.

The male narrator overacted his part, and the female narrator was just reading her lines. It was hard for me to get through it. Disappointing...

Love the book-can’t handle these narrators

I was so disappointed to see that these are the same narrators as Romig’s last trilogy. Why did I purchase the audio anyway?! I love her writing. Just can’t listen to either of these narrators. Will go back to reading the book.
