Publisher's summary

Award-winning author Jae’s newest lesbian novel is a medical romance with a few unexpected turns.

Dr. Hope Finlay loves her job as an emergency room physician, especially since it allows her only brief encounters with her patients. She learned early in life not to get attached to anyone because it never lasts.

Laleh Samadi, a waitress at her aunt’s restaurant, is the exact opposite. She easily connects with people and loves her big, boisterous Persian family, despite their tendency to meddle in her life.

When Laleh needs to be rushed to the ER with heart trouble, Hope saves her life. Afterwards, strange things begin to occur: Why does Laleh suddenly know even the most obscure diseases, while Hope is fluent in Farsi?

Soon, they can no longer deny that there’s a mysterious connection between them - one that becomes stronger with each passing day.

Are they losing their minds...or their hearts?

Loved this book

I've read every book that jae has written and this is my favorite. I love the way she weaves together the best of the Persian culture with that of the American culture. A very good read.

What a great surprise!!

Jae did not disappoint! At first I wasn’t sure about this book. But the story had me after the first 5 mins! Again, the narrator absolutely is not my favorite. I’ve bought several of Jae’s books and was willing to move forward. She was a bit better than last time but her inflections are just plain off. Sometimes I couldn’t tell who was speaking. If it weren’t for Jae’s amazing writing, this story would have been a wash for me. Thanks Jae for writing another good one!!!

Not the right narrator

She's not a bad narrator, nothing like the folks who make you turn off the book and return it within 10 minutes of starting it. Her style, however, is far more fitting for children's novels. It was hard to get past this to understand how good the book was, or wasn't. I think it's not up to Jae's usual standards, offhand, though still entertaining and not poorly written.

Good Story, Disatisying Performance.

Interesting premise and something I looked forward to reading, but the performance was lacking.

Least favorite Narrator

I usually love Jae’s novels and she usually picks amazing narrators but this one just does NOT work. This narrator should be reading Childress books not sapphic novels. Her inflections and timing are totally wrong it hurts to listen to. I think this book when read yourself or by a different narrator could be great but it just is so hard to get through as it is now

Ugggg,

The narrator was terrible. I could not get past 4 chapters. The story was weak, and I hated the I'm so deep in the closet aspect of it. I also felt someone other than Jae wrote this book, it seemed so JUVENILE. I'll never purchase a read by Miss Rakocy.

Great book!

I absolutely loved this book. The ending was a little dry for me. It felt like it needed a little bit more. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars for the performance is because of the way the narrators voice was a little too drawn out on some of Hope’s words. It bugged me for some reason “. Over all I would say a 4.9 over all!

Enlightened

In a fun way of examining the situation of the heart. A new way to imagine of how to find your other half of your heart. Brings up about heart health and problems. A fun and interesting story about lives around characters.

I don’t like the switcharoo

I guess I like a little more realistic. This doesn’t ever happen in real life. The doc falling for waitress is not much of reality either.

Narrators cadence is off.

I will not listen to another book narrated by Abigail Rakocy. Grated on my nerves
