The Instant New York Times Best Seller

Who has the right to change the world forever? How will we live online? How do we find comfort in an increasingly isolated world?

The Carls disappeared the same way they appeared, in an instant. While the robots were on Earth, they caused confusion and destruction with only their presence. Part of their maelstrom was the sudden viral fame and untimely death of April May: a young woman who stumbled into the Carls' path, giving them their name, becoming their advocate, and putting herself in the middle of an avalanche of conspiracy theories.

Months later, April’s friends are trying to find their footing in a post-Carl world. Andy has picked up April’s mantle of fame, speaking at conferences and online; Maya, ravaged by grief, begins to follow a string of mysteries that she is convinced will lead her to April; and Miranda is contemplating defying her friends’ advice and pursuing a new scientific operation...one that might have repercussions beyond anyone’s comprehension. Just as it is starting to seem like the gang may never learn the real story behind the events that changed their lives forever, a series of clues arrive - mysterious books that seem to predict the future and control the actions of their readers - all of which seems to suggest that April could be very much alive.

In the midst of the search for the truth and the search for April is a growing force, something that wants to capture our consciousness and even control our reality.

A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor is the bold and brilliant follow-up to An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. It is a fast-paced adventure that is also a biting social commentary, asking hard, urgent questions about the way we live, our freedoms, our future, and how we handle the unknown.

to be in the age of social media

is wonderful and terrifying. Thanks for giving the future of the internet a more hopeful spin Hank Green. I feel a bit more optimistic about social media having read your books.

An important book for the time

An incredible follow-up to An Absolutely Remarkable Thing that manages to capture the most engaging, frustrating, and thought provoking aspects of that work while also pushing the social commentary much further. I have so much to think about after reading the book.

The narration is also stunning. The cast adds so much depth to the book and the audio quality and editing is fantastic. Definitely a book to listen to.

Outstanding

Hank Green delivered an incredible sequel. I loved the story and came to know, love and hate the characters which were created with believable depth. The juxtapose of science fiction with the possible paths that technology and the internet could follow in the future are quite scary in that this future may be closer than we think. This was a throughly enjoyable story chock full of a multitude of thought provoking suppositions.

Amazing Sequel

I was weary about trying the sequel because I loved the first book so much. I was afraid that I might not get to hear from April as much as I wanted (because of the description). My fear was unfounded. I don’t want to ruin it but trust me when I say you get everything you loved about the first book and more here!
The conclusion to the story was extremely satisfying and I am so so glad I decided to listen to the sequel and find out where my favorite characters ended up.

Do yourself a favor and listen to this audiobook!

amazing thought-provoking look at our social headings

First my performance rating, I think the actors were all outstanding. But we had actors doing the voices for other characters that already had their own voice actors in this book. I am sure this was just easier, but in those moments I found harder to connect with the secondary characters voice, as it was delivered so much different from one actor to the next.

But this roller coaster into a very believable future is quite a new experience in books I have read. And I am really interested to know how this book will look to people 20 years from now as we start diving into full-dive VR technologies and the social platforms that run them. I love all the characters, and really enjoyed this book series.
