Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Meghan March goes back to New Orleans and the world of Lachlan Mount with a dangerous and bold new anti-hero.

The thing about ghosts is they’re supposed to stay dead.

That’s exactly what I am, but I can’t stay away from Magnolia Marie Maison for one more day, let alone another year.

We’ve already got 15 of those between us.

As it stands, she’ll want to kill me as soon as she lays eyes on me. And knowing her, she’s completely up to the task.

But I’m a man on a mission, and I’ve got everything riding on this.

So, here I come, Magnolia. This ghost is ready for whatever you got.

After all, there’s only one way I want this to end - ’til death do us part.

DNF. Asking for refund

This is the second MM book I’ve returned in the last month. Her latest writing is just not her. This story drones on. Nothing of importance is happening, and I’ve just lost interest. I’m more than halfway through and absolutely nothing has happened between the two main characters. I’m giving up now before this ends with a cliffhanger and I have to decide if I’m paying for another book ($24!) to find out it’s not any better.
MM: Please stop splitting books into 2 or 3 parts. Surely you can write enough good books to have a decent income. I won’t be buying any more books from this author unless they are standalone. At least then I’ll only waste one credit if it’s bad.

PREPARE TO BE BLOWN AWAY

I knew it was a Duet and I knew book 2 wasn't going to be released until April.. but I can never ever resist the pull of a new Meghan March book.. and this first slice set in New Orleans was so damn good and refreshingly different too. Gangster Moses and Hooker Magnolia met during hurricane Katrina and, in two weeks stranded together, they bonded and blew hot - until Moses left. He couldn't stay and she couldn't go.. so he promised he’d come back.. but it took him fifteen years and in those years a lot has happened to them both. Magnolia’s an independent, strong, spirited, fierce ex Hooker - ex Madam - ex Sex Club owner and she boldly holds her head high. She’s hardened her heart, she’s got a sharp tongue that’ll slash you right down and she’s quick witted too.. so when Kingpin Moses walks back into her life over a decade too late, the feisty clever woman dresses to impress and gives him Hell. And Moses wouldn’t have her magnificent self any other way.. after all he’s only come back for her.. and he’s prepared for a battle and this possessive protective sexy man doesn't take no for an answer.. but when Magnolia’s suddenly in danger the stakes quickly rise.

Oh my God.. I cannot tell you how wonderful this is with its sizzling chemistry, its suspenseful storyline, its mood and mystery, its fierce badass heroine with a layer of soft and vulnerable and its powerful, sexy as sin hero. Together they take you on a fast-paced thrilling smokin journey that will pull you right in. There’s drama, humor, twists, heat, steam, secrets, swoons, danger, drools and also catch-up appearances of pre-loved characters Mount and Keira from The Mount trilogy in this passionate, epic, second chance, push ‘n pull love story.. and of course a cliffhanger ending.

Worth a credit? Yes, yes, yes.. in fact I’d use two!.. and it’s got to be Meghan’s best book yet. It’s intricately weaved, full of passion and chemistry you can feel to your very soul and its dual POV storyline is brought to life by the wonderful A list narrators Erin and Joe (I think this is your best work to-date Joe) and together they absolutely delivered perfection. I’m utterly obsessed by this story Meghan, you’ve left me weeping and whaling in a corner watching and practically wishing away the hours until my next fix in New Orleans.

One story, Two books

Meghan March is one of my favorite authors. Her books are great. Her stories and characters are cool.
Joe Arden is wonderful!! He was superb in this book!!! He is superb in everything.
Erin Mallon is an excellent narrator but she does this thing where she holds on at the end of her words. It sounds like “worrrrrrdzuhh” rather than “words”. It takes me out of the story. She’s marvelous otherwise.
So...this book. The story was pretty good but the premise of a two week interlude followed by a fifteen year absence and then immediate resumption of the romance was a little hard to swallow. The narration was fabulous. My problem is that Meghan’s books are two or three purchases! That means $30 or $45 for ONE STORY. Meghan, I love ya but I can’t continue to follow you for that price. :(

Magnolia and Moses were ALL. THE. MF. THINGSSSS!!

I always pick up a Meghan March novel knowing it’s going to be one hell of a ride. Creole Kingpin exceeded my expectations and I was OBSESSED! This story grabs you from the very beginning and never lets go. It’s days later after finishing and I feel like I’m still living in this story. Magnolia and Moses were ALL. THE. MF. THINGSSSS!!

This story was mind blowing and Moses and Magnolia’s romance had me racing through so many emotion. From jaw-dropping twists to swoon-worthy romance to gasp-inducing drama and everything in between, Creol Kingpin had it all. This wasn’t just a story, it was an experience. Of course Meghan March is is queen of cliffhangers and we’re left with a major one! I cannot wait for Madam Temptress!

Narration was performed by powerhouses Joe Arden and Erin Mallon. And let me tell you, their performances are the reason I listen to audio! They effortlessly bring the characters story to life. They take a five star book and turn it into a 10 star audio. Must listen!

Bad accents, no story and off the charts F bombs

This was my first and last half-book by Meghan March. There’s non-stop F bombs and a horrible, inconsistent Creole accent by Erin Mallon. As much as I enjoy Erin Mallon narrating rom-coms, she was all wrong for this gangster romance. Joe Arden’s narration was fine, but it was just lipstick on the pig.

On the romance end, this concerns a man returning after 15 years to claim his woman- with complete disregard for her agency. And for all her bark, she had no bite, and surrenders like a pansy. Neither character impressed me. What little story there is concerns her being a woman in peril (and of course it falls to him to protect her). The mystery of why she’s in danger goes nowhere slowly and then ends abruptly, without any penultimate action sequence, reveal, or conclusion. I have zero desire to purchase the second half of this book.

So good....

I am fairly new to Meghan March's books, what caught my attention was the cover the fact it was based in, New Orleans and my husband and I were supposed to go there in March before the pandemic hit, so it was nice to see the city in the story. Once I started to listen, I was so captivated by the story and the narrators I couldn't stop listening. This was a great second chance romance. I loved Magnolia's character, she was strong, independent and I loved that Moses found that sexy about her. The narrators did an amazing job bringing the story to life.

NOLA 's Love Story

If you Loved Ruthless King and Defiant Queen , you will love this Creole series that starts with Creole Kingpin. This is Magnolia's story, both present and past. The story sizzles with the chemistry between Magnolia and Moses. The rich flavor of New Orleans is woven throughout the story with a great cast of characters, danger, mystery and a presence of the streets of NOLA!

Creole Joe - you can't go wrong

The Story of Magnolia and Moses - the story I didn't know I needed.
Great set up for book two, but ends in a cliffhanger, they are indeed a duet for one story. Joe Arden's Creole accent is worth the price of admission. Erin Mallon as Magnolia is wonderful as well.

We get to revisit NOLA, and even Mount and Kiera - it's like visiting old friends.
There is mystery and danger, and twists throughout the book.
Well done, recommended.
