Publisher's summary

A gripping psychological thriller

Inspired by a serial killer in a small town, this suspenseful novel is filled with sizzling chemistry and dark secrets. Girl Gone Ghost is a murder mystery that leaves you guessing who the killer is until the very end.

A cheerleader with a reputation. A ghost who wants justice. Two lives bound together until the killer is found.

Sonora's popularity means more to her than a new Michael Kors purse. With Fall Fling around the corner, she's on the lookout for the perfect gown in the small Texas town. But a ghost has different plans.

When her best friend's body floats ashore Brushy Creek, Sonora is haunted by the corpse-like spirit. The incessant ghost refuses to leave the cheerleader alone. She must risk death and sanity to find her friend's killer. If Sonora isn't careful, she'll be the next victim.

Not for me

The narrator totally ruined this book for me. She turned it into a farce instead of a "psychological thriller."

Suspenseful

Girl Gone Ghost kept me wondering who had killed Sanora's best friend Magnolia. The story is filled with suspense and tension as the ghost of her best friend haunts Sanora as if to push her into finding out who did it.

This audiobook has a huge plot twist at the end that will make you want to listen too it again! It kept me on the edge of my seat as I couldnt stop listening till I was finished. Excellent mix of horror and psychological thriller genre book!

It was hard for me to like this book...

I liked the premise of the book a lot - a murder, a serial killer and a ghost all in one story sounded really great. But... the more I listened to the book the more irritated I became. There was a serial killer, there was one particular murder that was the focal point of the story, there was a ghost of the murdered girl - but all these somehow fell flat for me, unfortunately... The ghost wasn't scary at all, the hunt for the serial killer felt all but forgotten by the whole neighbourhood, with teenager girls walking around alone at night as if they didn't have the slightest worry in the world, and the central murder of Magnolia being a nuisance for Sonora more than a case she's eager to solve... And even the twist at the end of the story (great as it was) did not save the book for me... And I know exactly why that was - I just hated Sonora as a character, there's nothing that can make me like her even one bit more: she's a spoilt brat, the bitchy queen of cheerleaders who cares about noone but herself, and if something goes against her perfectly laid plans, she gets upset, annoyed and irritated to the point of being hateful... I just can't relate to this kind of main characters - even if they're evil, I need at least one thing that allows me to connect to them emotionally... No such thing happened here, unfortunately...

Narration by Ms Arnold was OK, though it also added a bit to my level of irritation. She's overenthusiastic, I feel; what I mean is she makes the narrative parts (every sentence of it) so emotionally loaded that the really emotional parts blend in and lose their impact... I think I'll need to listen to another book in her interpretation to decide whether I truly like her reading or not...

Mind blown

First I have to mention that this book was given to me free of charge for exchange for an honest review. As always this does not alter how I review the gifted books. I am always honest in my reviews.

This book was all around great. The characters were connected and relatable and the narrator brought it all together.

Great read.

Teenage ghost story

The narrator did an awesome job with the difference voices although the main characters voice was to high pitch like nails being drawn across a blackboard.
I had to rewind several times to make sure I didn’t miss something because the story took a turn that didn’t make sense. But than again a lot of ghost stories do take weird turns.

Interesting Psychological Thriller

I really thought I knew what was going to happen in this story early on but I was soooo wrong - which is awesome. A good Psychological thriller with twists you won't see coming. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story & characters to life.

Paranormal Thriller

The main character is Sonora who is being haunted by her best friend Magnolia who was murdered and is trying to solve the case. It was confusing at times but has unexpected ending. It is definitely a young adult book especially with the narration but interesting no less especially paranormal aspect. I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review. Thank you
