Publisher's summary

He is a lethal weapon...

One of an army of soldiers created by a government experiment, Michael is different from the others involved, dangerous in ways no one quite understands. Even Michael himself believes darkness lives within him, evil fights to control him. And only one woman, the woman he loves, can bring him back from the darkness and into the light. But she has become his enemy.

Cassandra is the daughter of the man who created Michael, who, unbeknownst to her, tricked him into taking drugs he believed to be immunizations. She is torn between her love for Michael and her love for her father. She's also the woman Michael left behind, breaking her heart, seeming to shut her out without looking back. But now Michael is back, fully intending to show his enemies, Cassandra's father included, his wrath. And he's not leaving without Cassandra.

The Dark One

Cassandra Powell agrees to help 'The General', her father with research at a top secret military base. A training base for Super Soldiers.

On her first day she meets Michael Taylor as gorgeous as he is deadly. A man she is strangely drawn to and the attraction seems mutual.

Michael is the 'Dark One', a GTech like no other with abilities even he doesn't fully understand. What he does know is that he must stay away from Cassandra.

He needs to stay away not just because her father oversaw the experiments that forever changed him but because he fears she is his mate. And bonding with him can only destroy her. If her father's plans don't kill her and everyone he cares for first.

I really enjoyed listening to this book for free with Audible Escape. Lisa has created a terrifying vision of how power can corrupt. Can change the very fabric of society. And how far one 'good man' will go to save humanity and still retain his soul.

This book ends with a HFN but the overlying story arc does not conclude.

Wonderful

I was pleasantly surprised to hear this story. I’m new to this author. This was a great story with wonderful narration. I’m going to start the next in the series right now! I can’t wait to find what happens next with the Renegades, Michael’s mother, Ava & Adam’s child, the General, etc!!!

Another great start to another great series.

This is another great start to another great series by Lisa Renee Jones. I think I have gone through most of her books and have not been disappointed by any. Summer Morton does a terrific job narrating. Now, on to the next book in the series.

Michael

This book was amazing! The story was wild and full of action. Evil scientists and power hungry bad guys against the very strong good guys.

Entertaining

Really enjoyed the premise. Love the whole super soldier with cool abilities thing and taking on corrupt government people. Some good intrigue and action! Love the life mates thing too and there’s some good passion between the love interests. The narrator did a good job on the audio, and I’d recommend listening. There’s multiple villains and they all are total nutcases, so that makes for some entertaining scenarios. Overall, interesting story that kept me listening. Looking forward to the next!

Painful to listen to

The storyline was intriguing, however, I couldn’t get into it because the narration was too bland, boring, and lacked any distinction of emotions. What a disservice to the story, I can’t finish this book and now the entire serious is off my list.
