Publisher's summary

Do you want to be a better leader? Raise the threshold of your pain. Do you want your church to grow or your business to reach higher goals? Reluctance to face pain is your greatest limitation. There is no growth without change, no change without loss, and no loss without pain. Bottom line: if you're not hurting, you're not leading.

But this book is not a theological treatise on pain. Rather in Leadership Pain, Samuel Chand - best-selling author recognized as "the leader's leader" - provides a concrete, practical understanding of the pain we experience to help us interpret pain more accurately and learn the lessons God has in it for us.

Chand is ruthlessly honest and highly practical as he examines the principles and practices that make our pain a means of fulfilling God's divine purposes for our churches, communities, and us. These features are included in this leadership treasure trove:

  • Powerful, personal stories from some of the finest leaders in the world, such as Craig Groeschel, Benny Perez, Mike Kai, Lisa Bevere, Mark Chironna, Dale Bronner, Philip Wagner, Michael Pitts, and numerous others
  • Revealing insights into the growth that occurs through pain in leadership roles
  • Practical exercises to help you apply the valuable principles you are learning

Thinking of Being a Pastor?

I have a new found respect for the position, problems, pursuits and passions of being a pastor after listening to Leadership Pain.
A must read those called or think they’re called to be a pastor. You will either forge forward or retreat and run the other way. Either way may God be with you!

Great listen, helped me tons!

Someone recommended this book to me and to be honest I didn't know what expect. No one really likes pain, so the title had me some what apprehensive. But as a young leader, this book was a tremendous blessing. I really think this book is a game changer for leaders at every stage of the game. I love the testimonies at the beginning of each chapter from a lot of recognizable leaders. They are transparent with the reader about some of the hardest and most difficult seasons of their lives. You won't be disappointed.

Great stuff for any leader!

This was not my first experience with Dr. Sam Chand, I've been part of some of his online training, which is why I was excited about this book. While I believe this resource is great for any leader, it's especially good for newer leaders.

Yellow Flags for Christ Followers

If you truly have a relationship with Jesus Christ and you walk with the Holy Spirit…. Please avoid this book because it really enjoys using absolutes and “millions of years.”

Pain Perspective 4-Eva Changed

“Leadership Pain: The Classroom for Growth" by Samuel Chand is a profound and insightful book that brings a fresh perspective to the trials and tribulations of leadership. Chand asserts that pain, while uncomfortable, is often a necessary part of growth and development in leadership roles.

The book is rich with real-world examples, personal anecdotes, and practical wisdom. The author's writing style is accessible and engaging, making complex concepts easy to grasp. The key idea that leaders need to embrace and learn from pain instead of avoiding it can be transformative, especially in today's challenging leadership environments.

One criticism might be that the book tends to focus heavily on the author's own experiences, which may not resonate with everyone. However, the principles and lessons Chand shares are universally applicable.

Overall, "Leadership Pain" is a worthwhile read for anyone in a leadership role or aspiring to one. It sheds light on the often-overlooked aspect of leadership – the personal cost and challenges – and encourages leaders to grow through their struggles.
