Publisher's summary

A hilarious novel full of Hollywood glitz, glamour, and scandal from New York Times best-selling author Gigi Levangie.

When he changes the locks, she changes the rules.

Agnes Murphy Nash is the perfect Hollywood wife - she has the right friends, the right clothes, and even a side career of her own as a writer. Her husband, Trevor, is a bigshot producer, and from the outside it looks like they’re living a picture-perfect celebrity life, complete with tennis tournaments and lavish parties.

But the job description of a Hollywood wife doesn’t cover divorce, which is the way Agnes’ life is headed after she comes home one day to find her credit cards cancelled and the security passwords to get into her enormous LA home changed. Oh, and there’s a guy there whose job it is to tase her if she tries to enter...which she does. Needless to say, Agnes’ husband is dead-set on making sure she loses big time, but Agnes isn’t the type to just lie down and take it. In a world of fremenies and hot nannies, personal psychics and “skinny” jello shots, Agnes may be losing her husband, but could that mean getting her own life back?

Been There, Married That is a drop-dead hilarious battle of wills that will make you laugh out loud, cringe, and keep listening to see what crazy disaster will happen to Agnes next...and how she’ll rise from the ashes.

A bit long, but enjoyable.

The story is a bit long but enjoyable.
I am sooooooo glad that I never had Hollywood aspirations, because the picture painted is pretty funny and damn close to reality(according to friendswho live in the circus called Hollywood)...and completely explains the clown-face plastic surgeries so prevalent in Cali.
Narration is perfect! I adore Amy McFadden!!!

Funny, sarcastic, great narrator...

I love this kind of writing... sarcastic, funny, current, and the narrator was great! Would recommend for a light, fun, oops I didn’t hear every word, read.

Agnes is my hero!

Agnes reminds me a lot of myself, but she is way more funny! She has snarky and sarcastic comments for everything and everyone she deals with. I saw a review that said the story dragged on, but they obviously just don’t appreciate the humor in everyday life. There are no high speed chases or life or death situations, it’s just a woman dealing with a crazy life, like the rest of us ;-)

Amazing (Amy) McFadden was perfect! I’ll be listening to this whenever I need a quick mood lift.

Enjoyed this very much!

Well written, entertaining. Great story! A bit hard to tell if tongue in cheek but still worth it!

Meh

I’ve read four of Levangie’s books prior to this title. I had hoped this story would be as good as the others had been, but although there was a lot going on in the story the characters were not particularly likable, not well developed. And then the story was filled with endless, snarky one liners along the lines of, “so much silicone she could float,” et al, that they told more of the social climate than the story. Being from LA, I appreciate these and get why they are funny, but they started to bore me as the story went along. I will buy her next book in hopes of discovering a story such as “The After Wife.” I know she can do it.

Book is great but...

The writing was hilarious and the narrator was fantastic. I felt like the constant analogies were too much and the ending was disappointing and flat. My favorite character was Fin as I enjoyed her brazen antics! I was most irritated that Agnes allowed herself to be committed to faux rehab.

Kinda slow start

Slow start at first but once it got going was a great book. Fin actions made her appear much younger than Agnes.

Hilarious

Agnus has the perfect life. Her husband is a successful producer. She's launching her own career as a writer. Then things start unraveling. It starts with a trickle that turns into a downpour. Her husband doesn't show up to her book launch party. If that isn't enough, she comes home to find that she's been locked out of and barred from her home. From there, things just get more and more overwhelming. I found this book absolutely hilarious! For those who are expecting something more serious, this book won't be for them. It's full of satire. I feel like it's meant to be a parody of sorts. I found the book very fast paced, but easy to get into and understand. I had many "wow" moments. I knew when I saw the cover and title that I'd love it. It wasn't what I expected, but it's still worth a read. For those who love books with a lot of comic relief, this book is definitely worth it! I'm going to start with the obvious here. Agnus. She's just amazingly quirky. She has this ability to let almost anything slide off her. She just keeps going. That is until you try to come between her and her daughter. Then, it's on. Her sister Finn was pretty hilarious as well! I have to say her and the daughter were my favorite two characters in the entire book. I was sad I didn't get to see more of the daughter and the husband. All of the characters of this book were AMAZING. This book was narrated by Amy McFadden. One of my all time favorite narrators of all time! She's amazing! Once I found out she narrated it, I knew it would be worth listening to! So I jumped at the opportunity to get it on audio. Not that actually reading it isn't worth it. It's just that when you love a narrator, you want to hear them read it! While this may not be a serious book, it's definitely worth the read. It's full of drama and chaos. It's also full of all kinds of references to pop culture. Some of which are taken way out of context. Which makes it even more hilarious. I enjoyed this book more than I can even explain!
