Publisher's summary

To save her family from financial ruin, Miss Poppy Garrison accepts an unusual proposition to participate in the New York social season in exchange for her grandmother settling a family loan that has unexpectedly come due. Ill equipped to handle the intricacies of mingling within the New York Four Hundred, Poppy becomes embroiled in one hilarious fiasco after another, doomed to suffer a grand societal failure instead of being deemed the diamond of the first water her grandmother longs for her to become.

Reginald Blackburn, second son of a duke, has been forced to travel to America to help his cousin, Charles Wynn, Earl of Lonsdale, find an American heiress to wed in order to shore up his family estate that is in desperate need of funds. Reginald himself has no interest in finding an heiress to marry, but when Poppy's grandmother asks him to give etiquette lessons to Poppy, he swiftly discovers he may be in for much more than he bargained for.

Diamond of the First Water!

"Allow me to be frank," I absolutely, wholeheartedly LOVED this book! Highly recommended!
The humor drew me in from the first line. This story provides many moments of laughter throughout its pages, I laughed out loud more times than I can count.
I love the subtle messages of hope, forgiveness, healing, and redemption.
Poppy Garrison is a unique heroine. She finds herself in the most peculiar circumstances but they don't seem to upset her at all. She has spirit and spunk!
Reginald Blackburn is a wonderful hero! He truly comes to Poppy's rescue in several situations. I love the decorum lessons he gives Poppy and the patient persistence he has with her.

I never think of the people dwelling in Jen Turano books as characters. They are fully formed real-life people in my mind and I love them all! Every person adds something to the story. They aren't just there to fill space.
I highly recommend this book in any format. I own the paperback, the Kindle, and the Audible versions. I will be reading and listening to it again and again.

*The reason I took a star from the performance rating was because of a few mistakes.

Another Fantastic Story

Jen Turano once again wowed me with her wonderful and funny story. With quirky and lovable characters and charming mystery, Turano has once again spun a great tale. I really enjoyed the audiobook as the narrator brought the characters to life. Uplifting, upbeat, with a fast pace--don't miss out on this new novel by the Uber-talented Jen Turano!

Second "read" just as good as the first!

What a fun listen! Although I had already read this novel, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this humorous story again. With a clear voice and good pacing, Andrea Emmes did the narration. She did a good job using different character voices. This story is filled with wonderful characters and it was fun to revisit. I especially enjoyed all the laughs. I was given a copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

She's taking New York, and him, by storm!

There are many adjectives that apply to a Jen Turano book. Delightful. Charming. Enchanting. Captivating. Fascinating. Engaging. Lovely. Scrumptious. All of these definitely apply to this Diamond In The Rough who, with the help of a certain English gentleman, is either going to turn into a diamond of the first water or a colossal disgrace during her first society season.

But, oh, Poppy's madcap adventures are so much fun! As is Reginald's amusing attempts to reign her in and save her from herself. I'd swear I say this with every new release, but it's true. Diamond In The Rough is probably my favorite Jen Turano book...so far...or at least until the next American Heiresses book comes out.

I've actually read this book twice. The first time in paperback and again when I got the chance at an audiobook. Yes, the story was familiar the second time through, but in a good way, and the narrator's sprightly voice brought the characters to life in an all new way. Sure, the accents are exactly spot on but she was the perfect choice to narrate the audiobook. The production quality was excellent and did justice to Jen Turano's wonderful story. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Diamond In The Rough, either audiobook or in print.

Delightful mishap of a tale

Loved Jen Turano’s writing of this tale of Poppy and her acquired friends, grandparents & nobility as she drives to fulfill her grandmother’s goal of being a Diamond of the First Water.

Narrator did a great job keeping all the voices straight... and trying to affect a British accent .

I’ll enjoy listening to this book again!

Second story in series!

Just when you thought the first story was great, this one turned out more fabulous. Poppy will bring you to tears with her laugh out loud mishaps. This is a must listen to audiobook! The narrator took this story and turned it into a wonderful book with the many voices she did on the many characters.

This Author

I just love this author! I pre-ordered this book and the first night it came out I stayed up late listening to it (which I don't do often) because I just couldn't stop! Her characters have such great depth to them and the stories are engaging! Plus it's wonderful to have wholesome love stories!

Another cute story to make you laugh!!

This is another Jen Turano book to entertain and intrigue; just what I needed! Quirky characters, heroic deeds, and a brand new story. This is great escapism and I need to read one of Ms Turano’s every month at least! Enjoy👏😊🤓

Loved this story!!

She always finds the perfect balance of mishaps and romance! Seriously laugh out loud moments! And a very sweet romance woven in! Only Jen’s characters could come up with some of those mishaps
