Newark Venture Partners Showcases its Fall Accelerator Class

Eight tech startups in Newark Venture Partners’ (NVP) fifth NVP Lab cohort presented their businesses to nearly 400 investors, founders and community stakeholders at Demo Day. The event, held at the Newark Museum on January 15, highlighted the fund’s progress in attracting exciting startups to join Audible in growing Newark’s tech ecosystem.

Founded by Don Katz, Founder and CEO of Audible, to accelerate Newark’s turnaround by connecting the city to the high-growth innovation sector, NVP has attracted distinctive early-stage companies from the Bay Area, London, Toronto, and Tel Aviv to its accelerator space located in Audible’s headquarters.

NVP is part of a larger ecosystem that’s contributing to Newark’s turnaround. These startups have had access to the incredible domain expertise of Audible employees and our corporate partners, and I’m excited to see how this class of amazing companies contributes to our efforts to tether Newark to the elements of the economy that are creating jobs and taxable revenue and validates the profound business case for this city.

The eight startups presenting at NVP’s Demo Day, half of which are women-led, were Ejenta, Exempt Me Now, Floss Bar, RankMiner, StackSource, Upsider, Talentegy and Team Mobot. They are among 56 companies in which NVP has invested $17.3 million and they cover the HRTech, Voice, Consumerization of Healthcare, HealthTech, Robotics and FinTech industries, including a company that uses robots to automate quality assurance and a voice analytics company that extracts emotions in phone conversations.

Nearly 300 Audible employees are signed up as specialists to help coach the companies in residence.
