Publisher's summary

Known as the team loner, Riggs Nadeau gives his all on the ice, but nothing extra off it. A beautiful stranger is about to cause chaos in his very structured world.

As a professional hockey player, people think I live a charmed life. On the surface, I do. But they don’t know the horrors of my childhood, or the real reason that I have custody of my 17-year-old sister, Janelle. And that’s exactly the way I like it. They may think I’m a prick because I don’t like to share, but that’s fine. They don’t know me, and they don’t need to.

In an effort to help Janelle get settled in Phoenix and stay out of trouble at school, I set her up with a job at Clarke’s Corner, the local bookstore owned by the girlfriend of a teammate. It’s there that she makes friends with Veronica Woodley, the extremely annoying, arrogant, money-hungry divorcee, who I don’t want anywhere near my sister. Janelle insists I’m completely wrong about Veronica, but I refuse to accept that. I have to keep reminding myself that that the gorgeous blond with legs for days is off limits.

Through a series of events, I start to see Veronica for what she really is - an amazing woman who has survived her own hell to come out even stronger. I have to admit, we’re more alike than not and the attraction between us burns hot.

Maybe I was all wrong about my ability to love and commit, but when the past comes back to haunt me, can I be the man that Veronica, and Janelle, deserve?

Loved it - Great story and great narration

From the first chapter I was hooked on the story that Sawyer Bennett wove and couldn’t it put down. From the first time he was mentioned in the series I was intrigued by Riggs Nadeau and knew that the woman who captured his heart would need to be someone pretty special and that is certainly Veronica Woodley.

Riggs has custody of his seventeen year old sister Janelle and after a horrific childhood, he is determined to do right by her. He keeps to himself and doesn't get involved with the team dynamics any more than he is required too. However after a heart to heart with a fellow teammate Riggs realizes that he can no longer keep himself apart from the team and finds himself slowly but surely opening up. These guys are a family and Riggs begins to see how supportive they truly are.

Keeping Janelle out of trouble is his number one priority and he arranges for her to work at Clarke’s Corner where she meets Veronica. With his travel schedule for the team Riggs is worried about Janelle and tries to find role models for her. He is certain that Veronica will not be a good influence and tries to shut their friendship down.

From the moment he meets Veronica the sparks fly and it is obvious that there is intense chemistry sizzling between them. As Riggs gets to know her, he realizes that there is a lot more to the woman than he initially thought and his admiration and attraction grows.

This enemies to friends to lovers story was such an emotional journey that was not as straight forward as you would expect. Riggs has a heart of gold and underneath the lone wolf exterior is a man who deserves happiness. Veronica has been through so much and is a survivor; I loved her strength and determination. The friendship forged with Janelle was heart warming and added an additional layer to the story.

Narrated by Connor Crais and Savannah Peachwood did a great job bringing these characters to life. Their performances were spot on and they were easy to listen too.

A FANTASTICALLY EMOTIONAL BOOK! KUDOS MS BENNETT

OMG, OMG, OMG O! M! G!!!
Love, LOVE LOVE!! this book!!! The emotional impact of this story… OFF THE CHARTS!!!
OK, I am going to be honest here. I truthfully did not like the character Riggs very much in previous books. Yes, I knew that the author had to have a well thought out reason for giving Riggs the personality that she gave him, and at some point, we would find out what they were. YOWZA, did we ever!!! I am now and forever be a fan of this character!!! Great job Sawyer Bennett!!
There is soooo much I want to say about this book, but it would give too much away. I love Veronica!! I LOVE the way her life story, once Riggs learned of it, shut him down COLD!!! I LOVED the relationship that developed between Veronica, Janelle, and Riggs.
Another character that has a big part in the story is Baden. I really loved the friendship that is developing between Baden and Riggs. After that previously happened to Baden, I loved seeing how he is coming along. Hopefully, Sawyer Bennett will write his story soon. I would love to see him make it back into hockey and beat the odds.
The last few chapters…. They have me speechless!! My heart just freaking broke a thousand times. Sorry, Ladies, that is all I will say. I will say this, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS STORY!!!! ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!!
Now, to the narration. Yes, I have already listened to this book too! Connor Crais and Savannah Peachwood, just brought this emotional story to life for me. This is the first time I listened to these two, and I will definitely be looking for more books narrated by these two in the future.
I was gifted with a copy of this wonderful book because of my love of romance, and for my opinions on this wonderful book. In my honest opinion, if you love a great romance, with just the right amount of heat, you cannot go wrong with this book!! So, what are you waiting for? Go hit that purchase button from your favorite retailer. You will be glad you did.
Thank you for reading my review. Have a great day, and happy reading.
One last thought. When you love this book as much as I have, PLEASE share your opinions on the book. Authors really appreciate it when you do!!

This book has it all.

Enemies-to-lovers, friends-with-benefits, past family trauma, teenage guardianship, hockey, and the perfect amount of spice. This book has it all, and will get your heart hooked and wont let go!

This is not the first book in the series, but can be read as a complete stand alone. You will just know about Riggs already as he has played a small part in previous books. But everything will have been given to you in this book that you need to know. And you will know more about the secondary characters. But do not let that scare you away from this book! Once you read this one, you will want to read them all.

And can we talk about that plot twist at the end that was non-romance related???? It is setting up the next series by Sawyer Bennett. I just know already I am going to loose my mind and heart over that book. In just a good way!

Closed off pair bond caring for his teen sister

Riggs past is one of major family drama which has affected his ability to easily trust his new teammates. Out of necessity he gradually works through his issues while fighting and succumbing to his attraction to a Veronica, his teammates girlfriend’s best friend, and a woman who has her own issues and relationship phobia. Riggs’ younger sister Janelle brings them together in what amounts to a very hot and sweet relationship following a very rocky start. The epilogue contains a bit of a shocker as to where Baden’s story is headed, even though there have been hints in the past several books.
The narration was pretty good though Savannah Peachwood’s voice is at times overly sweet and Connor Crais can sound flat and lifeless at times. Since both struggle with the voice for the opposite sex a potential fix would be for them to perform together and act out the roles in duet narration. A good hockey romance especially for fans of the series and well worth the credit.

🏒 AHHHH MAZE-ING!!! 🏒

Finally!!! We get to know the mysterious Riggs! I've been curious about this man for a while and had NO IDEA he was hiding everything he was hiding. Riggs is quite standoffish and it definitely took some time for him to weasel his way into my heart. Once I really saw him with his sister and how he tried so hard with her, it won me over! I wasn't sure who his woman would be but she definitely needed to be strong. Who better than Veronica?  She has a past and she's slightly jaded towards men, so much so that she's sworn off marriage again.

These two have a rough start and after a few scenes I wasn't sure they were going to work. Sawyer Bennett knows what she's doing though and soon I was loving these two together.  It isn't an easy romance though.  These two have more between them then just their own issues. I want to add in that I adored Janelle. I thought she really added a unique element to the story. Oh, let me add... that sneak peek into Baden was AWESOME!!! I have no idea how I'm going to patiently wait for his story now. This one is going to hit everyone in the FEELS!

Now, the narration was fantastic! Samantha Peachwood did a fabulous job bringing Veronica to life. She was able to match Veronica's personality with her voice. She was a strong woman but was open and caring. Connor Crais was amazing as Riggs! His voice was strong and confident but had just enough gravely toughness in it.

Great Narration and a wonderful story

Arizona Vengeance is one of my hockey romance series and I have to say this is the book I have been waiting for. Connor Crais and Savannah Peachwood did a fantastic job bringing this book and it’s characters to life. From the moment I met Riggs I knew his story was going to be very special and this book did not disappoint, it was everything I expected and so much more. Riggs has always kept himself to himself but when he became guardian to his younger step sister their privacy became even more important. Dealing with a soon to be 18 year girl was never going to be easy and when you add in the time he spends away from home it becomes near impossible. Janelle is too old for a nanny but she still needs guidance so he finds older women to become her companion but when his lastest choice has an accident he needs to look again and that’s where Veronica comes in. Veronica and Riggs clash on every level but there is no doubting the intense chemistry they share so when she offers to help with Janelle they decide to but their differences aside. A friendship is fast formed with Janelle a young girl just looking for love and security but what happens when Riggs and Veronica decide they also need more than friendship will either be prepared to cross the line and risk the bonds that have formed with Janelle. I fell hard and fast for Riggs, I adored Veronica but it was the relationship that was formed with Janelle that took this book to another level for me. The chemistry is sizzling, the attraction is instant and the banter is perfect in this enemies to friends to lovers romance. A perfect addition to this wonderful series and I can’t wait to see where we get taken next.
The story is da and so is the narration.

That strong and silent type...

4.5☆
I have wondered from previous books what Riggs's background was and why he kept to himself. Riggs and Janelle have a very interesting albeit hard past. You can see both he and his sister have really been shaped by it in their own way. Riggs was really interesting and I enjoyed seeing him work on struggles from his past and how Veronica and Bayer help him out. Veronica is strong in her own right and I love that she pushes Riggs too. I enjoyed their prickly start all the way to their happiness. I loved getting to see more of Bayer, he is a great friend to Riggs and I an anxious for his book. The prologue to Bayer is at the end of Riggs too!! I really enjoyed Riggs and listening to it in one sitting!

A match made in heaven!

Every book in this series has been phenomenal. There's a reason that Sawyer Bennett is my favorite Author. She never disappoints. To be able to imagine a story and be connected to the characters is one thing I love about reading. Riggs was close-minded, stubborn, and when he took custody of his sister he knew that had to change. Veronica was perfect in the way she handled him and his rudeness. She held her own and never backed down. She also knew how to coax him into living a little. The passion between these two was deep and simply hot! Just like Cold Fury, I don't want this series to end. Each book tells a different story and each one made feel a myriad of emotions. As always, kudos Sawyer.

Riggs & Veronica

Riggs has been a mystery for a while now. Always the silent type with secrets he’s holding to his chest. He was nothing like I was expecting. Once he let the walls come down you could see he was just a man who protected his family and the ones he loved.

I enjoyed this story as Sawyer always keeps me entertained with emotion, hot chemistry, hockey alphas, family and romance. I really loved that Veronica was a strong independent woman who had no filter and let Riggs know at every turn how she really felt about him. That was until she too let her guard down and gave into the attraction.

Veronica was such a great role model for Janelle and that girl needed that after everything she had went through. I loved how she opened that girl up and showed her how to live again. Veronica and Riggs were actually perfect for each other. They brought out their good sides and just meshed together.

My hear were pleasantly happy with this narration. It was pure perfection. I mean Connor Crais is a new obsession as his deep, smooth voice puts you in a trance. I loved how he voiced Riggs with just the right timbre at the right time. Savannah Peachwood gave Veronica that extra fiery spirit and brought her to life amazingly.

Sawyer surprised us with a shocking somber scene and set us up for Baden. I can’t wait to read his story. That man deserves a happily ever after.
