Publisher's summary

From New York Times best seller, Pepper Winters, comes the second book in Kas and Gem’s twisted romance.

A valley full of secrets.

A history full of nightmares.

A man who cannot be saved.

And a woman who holds his very life in her hands. Strange how the villain of a story can so easily become the victim. Utter lunacy to think the captive might now become the caregiver.

Gemma has a decision to make. Her life or his. Follow her heart, even when it’s screaming at her to run? Or turn her back on the man who could become her everything?

Emotional, but oh so good!!!

Pepper Winters. Need I say more? Broken Beauty and the Beast? I think that sums it all up as to why I love this series. This author, my favorite fairy tale and the haunting of my soul that this story brings it! Book 2 of this series is just as tragic and emotional as the first, but in a totally different way. Kas is such a troubled soul. Suppressing his memories is literally driving him crazy, but he does know one thing. Gemma is the woman for him. Gemma goes through some interesting transformations. This love/hate relationship is in for a change. Seeing Kas for who he is leads her heart. But is it safe for her to stay? Does she miss being home? Will Kas keep her forever? Just when you think you know all the answers, Winters throws a curve ball like no other, busting all my hopes and dreams for this couple wide open! Now I have to wait, happily, as this Winters/Beast combination is a winner and so worth the wait!

This book is highly emotional and needs a narration to be as well. Tor Thom and Charley Ongel continue with a powerful performance giving us all the feels, all the infuriation and blossoming love. Thom is spectacular as Kas. His complexity leads to a lot of personalities, and Thom blends them together creating the beast and the prince in Kas. Gemma is not afraid of her feelings, and Ongel portrays her with voices letting us know exactly how she feels. Anger, stubbornness, love, confusion, it's all there letting us understand who she is. This team is the perfect casting for this story and I can't wait to see where they take us next.

Much better than the first

The first book was very barbaric and it made me cringe and roll my eyes sometimes, but I’m glad I listened to the 2nd. It made me realize the plot comes out in phases. Now I appreciate the 1st book more. Narration is 11/10. Soooo good.

Well-Written Angst

As a long-time fan of Pepper Winters, I’m somewhat conflicted about the first two books. On the one hand, I found the storyline intriguing and certainly well-written; in other words, I became invested in the story of Gemma and Kassen. On the other hand, hour after hour of non-stop grueling anxiety, angst, trauma, sadness, rage, sorrow, and horror, with no respite, left me, at times, emotionally exhausted, So much so that by the middle of the second book, I found myself making excuses to take a break and read something else for a bit, all the while hoping when I returned Gemma would have set aside her savior complex and Kassen could have healed enough to mend the splits in his psyche. But, alas, it wasn’t so.
I usually intensely dislike having to wait for the next book to come out in a series, but this time, I needed the pause. If, in fact, time does heal all wounds, I wonder what Book III serves up. Since we’re introduced to a new player at the end of Book II, all sorts of possibilities, of potentials, present themselves. He embodies Kassen’s history, so I can only hope this new character carries with him the thread to stitch together Kassen’s fractured soul and allow love to enter.

I NEED book 3!!

OMG, I waited for this not so patiently, but boy was it worth it!! This is going to be brief & not so specific, because you need to experience it fully on your your own. But holy cannoli, the things you find out in this book will twist you up in so many ways!!! Tor Thom, oh my gosh, even being twisted up, it’s ok because he’s the one you’re listening to. Also Charley Ongel does a great job as Gemma. And in the end, what you NEED is book 3!! I cannot wait!!!

Absolutely in love with Kas and Gem!

These two have a love story born from the darkness and trying to find the light. They’ve stolen my broken heart and I hope book three will make it whole again. Definitely recommend. They’re are triggers as this is dark writing but for me those triggers are why I want to see Kas become whole again and overcome all that has happened.

Not only was this book well written but WOW- the narrators were amazing and definitely did this book justice! Kas’s voice was dark and delicious and everything you could ever ask for while Gem’s voice was just that a Gem! Great job to both the narrators for creating the perfect story with your voices! ❤️

A great, emotional dark book. Great narrators!

Pepper really knows how to pull on your heartstrings. This book has everything angst, hope, pain, and love. I was on such an emotional rollercoaster while listening to this audible. Gem is truly a caring and forgiving character. The amount of love and trust she is willing to give Kas even with everything he put her through. She is able to see the beneath it all and care for Kas. We get a lot of insight into the horrors that Kas lived through and the reasons he does what he does. I like seeing how there relationship changed throughout this audible. I did not see that ending coming and need the next book now lol! Tor Thom and Charley Ongel do a great job bringing Gem and Kas to life. You feel every heartbreak and struggle that the characters are going through.

Dark and Gripping

This book is dark so heed the trigger warnings, you have been warned. This is the continuation of Kas and Gemma’s story and it was just as intense and gritty as the first one.

Narrated by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel, they did justice to Kas and Gemma’s characters. Ms.Winters has written broken emotional characters that really draw you in and capture your attention and their performances certainly brought this across.

Kas knows that Gemma is the woman for him. Gemma goes through a lot of changes in this story. The chemistry between Kas and Gemma is intense and passionate, not to mention eye opening and the narration certainly brought this to life. Gemma is not afraid to stand up to Kas. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, Ms.Winters throws us a curve ball.

Be prepared this one ends in one heck of a cliff hanger and I for one cannot wait to see what happens next.

Devastating, Intense, Amazing

Wow this book is truly the definition of a nightmare!!! I can't even imagine the horrors that Kas endured in that house, especially as he tried mostly unsuccessfully to protect his brothers and sisters. It's all there, graphic and gory, painful and so so tragic. And the many layers of Kas are slowly revealed to Gemma. For Gemma it's like a slow motion train wreck with carnage and the knowledge she has no ability to stop the torment. For both of them the crescendo of reality and insanity becomes desperate and cruel.

Book two is amazing! I don't think I've ever read anything like it. I am so excited for Book 3!!!

Narration by Tor Them and Charley Ongel was outstanding!
