Summary
Before you listen to this book
I want you to know three things:
- The police are looking to charge me with murder.
- No one knows who I am. Or how I did it.
- If you think you've found me. I'm coming for you next.
After you've read this book, you'll know: the truth is far more twisted....

Sadly not as good as Thirteen. Lacklustre reader.
Absolutely loved Thirteen and the Eddie Flynn series and pre ordered Twisted in lively expectation of another fabulous listen,
but sadly, the narrator's style almost lost me from the start. Laurence Bouvard's caricature repertoire of "dumb and slow" drawly cop voice, silly high pitched southern female voice and a really unbelievable main male character voice pretty much spoilt it for me from the get go.
For me, a book is made or lost by the narrator, Adam Sims, in my opinion, is perfect in the Eddie Flynn books, wish they'd just used him again. I persevered however, and the second part of the book was certainly more interesting than the start, but the ending just left me wishing I'd picked something else. Roll on the next Eddie Flynn novel!

Very clever
The thing is, and I don't know if you agree with me, when an author becomes known for writing brilliantly clever and evil plots, and then his new book has the reading world waiting with baited breath in anticipation, something is bound to go wrong! No need to panic, there's nothing wrong with Twisted; it's crafty, quirky, unique and Curly-Wurly-esque in its twistedness. (I'm just making words up now). If this had been my cherry popping Steve Cavanagh book, it would get 5 stars; but it's not. Mr Cavanagh is a victim of his own success, because, you see, I love Eddie Flynn. I really, really love Eddie Flynn, and I love Adam Sims, the narrator, therefore anything Mr Cavanagh writes that doesn't have Eddie Flynn in the starring role and isn't narrated by Adam Sims, I'm going to struggle with. Having said all that, Laurence Bouvard narrates Twisted superbly. I just adore her accent, and the story line is inspired and unique in a literary world that has seen every twist and turn possible, Mr Cavanagh has managed to carve out an entirely new loop-the-loop. His writing is masterful and eloquent and I listened to nearly 12 hours in just 2 sessions because I was transfixed. The only thing missing for me is Eddie! Assuming you are a normal and rational person and not in love with a fictional character in a book, then I highly recommend you listen to Twisted and give it the full 5 stars. You can thank me later!

It's Okay
Not as gripping as Eddie Flynn stories really, but it's an entertaining enough novel. Hard to find a character you'd empathise with here.

Unutterably stupid, banal & pointless
I had to read the entire book as I was waiting for the much celebrated ‘twist’ in the novel. It never materialised - unless you believe retrofitting the story to suit whatever ludicrous rubbish you come up with next constitutes a twist. I was also horribly fascinated by the paper thin characters, the casual homophobia, the achingly old fashioned gender bias and the litany of cliches wheeled out to prop up the ‘plot’. I imagine the author is laughing all the way to the bank, having conned someone into publishing this dross. Good on him :)

Arrrrrrrgggghhhhhh!!
I didn’t even read the reviews because Cavanagh has become my favourite author, he is one hell of a writer......don’t get me wrong, it is still a great story.......but, I have just finished and read the reviews and we all have the same thing that messes with the Cavanagh genius.....it’s the narrator. SHE IS DIRE. After every listen I ended up feeling wound up but my loyalty to Cavanagh and to support his rogue book away from Yhe Flynn series kept me going. She gets in the way of the impact of the story and it’s by listening to her soul breaking drawl for every character that you realise just how important a good narrator is. I didn’t realise just how much till now. At times it was almost joke like it was so bad. It’s a great disservice to Cavanagh I feel. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get past it enough to give my usual unfailing 5 stars that Cavanagh always gets from me. The narrator well and truly spoilt it and not just for me it seems and for that reason I can’t recommend the audio book...... read the hard copy instead. I’m sure it would be a better experience. Sorry Steve......

Great story marred by the male voices
The story was fantastic but the overall experience was marred by the reading of the male voices, which all sounded like a variation of Forrest Gump parodies

Excellent read
I brought this book because I have listened to the Eddie Flynn books. OMG the title to this book is true to word. Loads of twits and turns keeps you on the edge all away through.
Even mentions Eddy Flynn you will not be disappointed in this book 10 out of 10

Hard to believe it’s the same author as the Eddie Flynn Series
If this is your first Steve Cavanagh book, please do not judge his whole body of work by this book.
I have been a big fan of the Eddie Flynn series for a long time now, I have read each book multiple times, but I find it hard to believe that this book was written by the same person.
It is predictable, poorly written and in no way compares to any of his previous work.
It reads like a leaving certificate essay and has all the plot twists expected to follow the line “Go tobann..” (a reference for those who have enjoyed the Irish education system)
Very disappointing and would not recommend.

I did have a good twist in the end.
It was very slow to begin with. The narrator might have put me off some. Definitely not the Eddie Flynn series which I was totally hooked on! So having devoured all 7 books with Eddie Flynn I was a bit disappointed in Twisted. But I persevered and did definitely enjoy the second half. If this was my first book by Steven Cavanagh I’m not sure I would have found Eddie Flynn.

Grabs the reader immediately and does not let go until the final sentence
One of the best thrillers I have ever read. Dogs got extra long walks to give me longer listening sessions.
