Publisher's summary

A sinner’s only hope is true love in this passionate new novel in J. R. Ward’s number-one New York Times best-selling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Syn has kept his side hustle as a mercenary a secret from the Black Dagger Brotherhood. When he takes another hit job, he not only crosses the path of the vampire race’s new enemy, but also that of a half-breed in danger of dying during her transition. Jo Early has no idea what her true nature is, and when a mysterious man appears out of the darkness, she is torn between their erotic connection and the sense that something is very wrong.

Fate anointed Butch O’Neal as the Dhestroyer, the fulfiller of the prophecy that foresees the end of the Omega. As the war with the Lessening Society comes to a head, Butch gets an unexpected ally in Syn. But can he trust the male - or is the warrior with the bad past a deadly complication?

With time running out, Jo gets swept up in the fighting and must join with Syn and the Brotherhood against ultimate evil. In the end, will love true prevail...or was the prophecy wrong all along?

Wowwww

I really really loved this Audiobook, Jo Early and Sin, The Scribe Virgin and her siblings, The Blind King and his eyesight, Lassiter giving Divine the middle finger in his childlike sophisticated clothing, Also Divine doesn't card about fighting human, vampires, or werewolf???? It's the end of the war with the slayers and a new one begins.

It's Over!

Great addition to an already awesome series. The A-story is classic Ward, predictable but told well. The B story revisits a fan fav character. Even the C-story was fitting. A must-read for all BEN fans!

🌻A new twist, in the BDB world!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

This book surprised me with the connection to Ward’s, “Fallen Angel “ series. The common character was actually introduced a few books ago, but I missed the connection until this book. This novel is much better then the last BDB release but, I’ve got to admit that I haven’t enjoyed the Hero’s from the Band of Bastards, as much as I have enjoyed the stories from the BDB and their supporting soldiers. All of the members of the BoB’s, are much more flawed then the members of the BDB. They also lack the sense of humor, that my beloved BDB members have. With that being said, this story does also spend some of it’s focus on Butch’s current life. It also ends one era, of the series, and introduces another. I wish there could have been more of an update on more of my favorite characters but, I’m confident there will be more BDB to come.

This is one of my top five favorite series and I’m hoping it continues for years to come!

Davina stole the show.

The Dhestroyer prophecy has been around as long as this Series has. I was thinking it was going to be this huge fight this Mega Bloodshed situation. Don't get me wrong, the ways I just ended was great but I thought there was going to be more. Now that I have covered that bit let's get into the fun stuff, Syn.

Syn has always been that character that you really didn't know much about. You just knew that he was a bad boy and that he was doing some shady stuff. Little did we know that he is a Hired Gun. Unlike other Hired Guns though he kind of has morals. I do like the fact that he only takes out people who deserve it. He was actually a really good hero to Jo, the heroine. He courted her And it made her feel as though she is the only one in the world. He kind of reminded me a bit of Zadsit only because he is damaged but he is definitely not a Zadist.

Jo was an interesting character. I know that she has been in previous books however I have not read them. I have not read them because they are not available in audiobook and I am a strictly audiobook girl. Well I am a 97% audio book girl. I didn't know what to expect from Jo aside from what other people have said about her but she seemed a bit judgmental for my liking. Yes, Syn was hired to kill her, yes he is a vampire, but instead of letting him explain she just shut him down. I am glad that she understood her mistake and ended up working things out with Syn but it just seemed unnecessary.

I have to admit that I am obsessed with Davina. I have enjoyed her since the Fallen Angels' series way back when. The type of villainous she is is just breathtaking. Yes, she has done some horrible things but the flare that she does it with just screams best character ever! I may be in the minority about this but I cannot wait to see what mischief she brings to Caldwell. I just think that her and Lassiter are going to have such a wonderful time being enemies.

This series never disappoints

It feels like forever between books. I waited to listen to this one knowing number 19 will be out in a few weeks. I tried to take it slow, savor it but it was impossible. I stayed up until 4am on work nights TWICE. I highly recommend this series. One war ends and another begins...here we go!!
