Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Sawyer Bennett...

Kynan McGrath has just joined The Jameson Group, a security organization handling everything from covert military operations to providing protection for high-profile celebrity clients. As second-in-command, Kynan has the authority to accept or decline any mission. But when a stunningly beautiful pop princess walks through the doors, Kynan knows he’ll do anything to get closer to her.

Joslyn Meyers is on the brink of super stardom, but with fame comes a level of attention she was never prepared for. She’s even less prepared for the gorgeous, tattooed, British bodyguard her mom has hired to keep her safe.

When Kynan escorts Joslyn to her hometown of Cunningham Falls for a benefit concert, it becomes clear that the threat to Joslyn’s heart is more real than any physical threat to her safety. But when Hollywood comes calling, will the pop princess and the wickedly hot Brit be able to preserve their relationship? Or will the force of their differing worlds drive them apart?

Cliffhanger

Love the author’s other works. This one was below average, but still miles ahead of other writers.

Didn’t like that there was a cliffhanger without a follow-up book.

Loved the male voice actor.

A Novella w/ a Cliffhanger????

Narration was ok but the book was a disappointment. I was struggling to finish this... the epilogue wasn't even technically an epilogue. It was just an annoying irritating story. Good thing this was a free audible or i would have just wasted my money👎

Prologue story with a cliffhanger for Kynan and Jocelyn

This story has the worst female narration by Imogene Church and that contrasts sadly with Shane East’s male which is great as usual. Church’s performance sound like a young teeny bopper and gets worse as it goes along. It as a sad cliffhanger that get resolved in the first ok in the series for Security Force- in book time 12 years later.

wicked

kian and Josyln aren't supposed to fall for each other. but can you really stop love? Her mother is a driving force in her career and she is trying to push something on her that she doesn't want to do. the story is well told and the narration is done very well.

Where's the next book???

This was a good story, which included sex, and not the other way around, but (hopefully will try not to spoil for others) ends on a cliffhanger and I see nothing following it except the Jameson Security series which is 10 years down the road. I was really wrapped up in what the mother is going to do next and the book just ends abruptly, but I see nothing between this book and 10 years and am wondering .... does the mother wait 10 years to get Jocelyn back ... does something happen in the meantime which causes trouble between Jocelyn and Kynan.... what -- what --- what ??????

It was ok

My biggest complaint, besides the fact that you're not getting an ending to the story unless you buy the book that coincides with this, is the overall lack of anything resembling a backbone in the heroine. I get that she's 19 but she's so wishy washy that it makes you want to scream at her to grow a pair. The female narrator just drives that point home as her voice leaves something to be desired. If I hadn't already read other books by this author, I'd tell you to not bother. I know Sawyer writes better than this so if audible is trying to pull in readers with this one, they'd be better off starting with the first book in the Wicked Horse series. This is ok at best.

Fun story

A fun story to listen to. I will admit one of the reasons I got the audible was Shane East. Imogen Church figured in too. Both are talented narrators, so listening to them read anything wouldn't have been a hardship. However, they did have a decent story here. Not a big fan of the rock star trope, but the body guard trope balanced it out. And of course, Shane East. *sigh* But, they left us with an OMG. Not exactly a cliffhanger, but definitely with the knowledge there was more to come. Now I need to go track that down. I find that frustrating, hence the loss of a star on what otherwise may have been a five star rating on a fun story.

Why so much inflection in everything you say

I really enjoyed the story. I felt a connection to the main characters. I was rooting for them the whole time.

My only gripe is Joslyns narrator. I’ve never heard anyone talk with so much inflection in everything that is said. It was driving me bonkers. I almost stopped listening but I’m glad I didn’t.

Great prequel for Code Name: Genesis

I started Code Name Genesis, then realized I should be listening to Wicked Horse Vegas, which was awesome. Then I found this gem which explained a whole lot before Genesis. I love Sawyer Bennett because all her books are intertwined. Shane East was perfection, Imogen Church was good as well, but I'm not as familiar with her and the reason for the 4 stars.
