Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Susan Stoker comes a new story in her Delta Force Heroes series....

After years of estrangement, Mercedes Laughlin has finally reconciled with her older brother. It should be the happiest time of her life, getting to know Truck and his new wife...and it would be, if an ex wasn’t causing her trouble. Add in Truck’s boss, Colonel Colton Robinson, an amazingly distracting man whom she met under embarrassing circumstances, and Macie’s got a bit more on her plate than she can handle.

From the moment they met, Colt was fascinated by Macie, and helping her through an anxiety attack at her brother’s wedding didn’t diminish the appeal. He’d do his best to sweep her off her feet, if not for a little voice telling him to tread lightly - until a frantic phone call changes the plan. Macie’s being targeted, and Colt’s determined to keep her safe while he and her brother eliminate the threat.

Colt isn’t about to let his friend lose his sister again so soon...or miss his own chance at a happy ending with Macie before they’ve barely had a beginning.

To climb like a tree

I never expected to learn such expression from a book. I was very surprised by it and did not regret an instant. e
Yes, it is a bit cliché for the overprotectiveness but sometimes, it doesn't hurt. The main lady is very fun and the narrator did a great job portraying her.
I would recommend it if you are looking for an easy story that will make you laugh or chuckle.

It was a cute short story

Macy has severe anxiety and just living her life is stressful but she’s been able to manage it. She’s missed Truck for the past 10+ years and is finally happy that they’ve been able to reconnect. It’s unfortunate that she finds herself in danger just when she reconnects with brother. Thank God Colt, the Colonel, is there to help her, calm her, and protect her.
Colt has been infatuated with Macy since he met her. He knows about her anxiety and isn’t put off by it. When he finds her scared and running from danger, he immediately vows to protect her. They had one night of togetherness and he wants more. Once he gets rid of the danger, he will surely make her his.
This was a good story, I wish we had some more information or maybe explanation. Macy has severe anxiety- since Truck wasn’t aware of it, did she develop this after their falling out? Was it a result of her parents treatment? Who is this hacker friend who’s been keeping in contact with her with info about Truck? These are minor things that I thought would have added more to the story, but I understand you can’t include everything in a short story.
At least the Colonel got his HEA.

Another winner!

I love love love all of Susan Stoker’s Army Delta Force books (and her Navy Seal protection heroes), and this is no exception. I adore the strong, protective heroes, and the equally strong women they love and protect. I also love that her heroines are “flawed” in some way, meaning they aren’t movie star ideals of feminine beauty, but are real in a way any reader can identify with, and recognize strengths they might not have previously realized in themselves. And Stella Bloom is one of my top favorite narrators; she’s amazing, and makes the stories even more riveting. Do yourself a favor, and read (listen to) the entire series. They’re all stand-alones, with their own HEA.

Was ok.

This novella started out rather well and I was really enjoying it. Then it got raunchy. I'm not innocent but it was really weird how your listening to a book that seems to have a certain style then boom raunchy. I found the book ok.

Emotional but real

Stella Bloom is by far my favorite narrator. Stella always brings the character to life. This beautiful and raw depiction of living witb severe anxiety gave all the feels. Following Macie's journey to trusting again and standing through adversity felt raw and true to living with mental health issues.
I admire how Susan Stoker shows the many facets of a strong male character including the hidden emoftions of fear, regret and grief and still showing the ability to function and lead. We all have our strenth and weakness.
This author consistently writes characters with the ability to be strong and overcome with help from their family of choice. On to the next treasure by Susan Stoker.

🔹Beautiful, brave, breathtaking! 6 Stars!⭐️

🔹I simply loved this book, the characters and their endearing story!!! 6 STARS BABY! One of my TOP FAVE DELTA BOOKS OF ALL TIME!

🔹Normally I start my reviews out with pros and cons, but in this case there were no cons. (preach!)

🔹Macy is am intelligent, crafty & wonderful woman, stronger than she knows. Outgoing, beautiful inside and out and waiting for love.

🔹Colt is a strong leader in the army with a very difficult job and overall great guy. Hard on the outside but tender on the inside. Also looking for love.

🔹This explosive action/ adventure/ romance starts out like base jumpin in free fall!!💥

🔹The story goes from high stakes thriller, to a nails in the dash board adventure, and flowing into an amazing dazzling romance. (gush and thank you Susan!) The opening scene is INCREDIBLE! They need to make this book in to a movie!!

🔹I was rooting for both characters and hoping they would ...fall in love....get married and have a beautiful family. These are the kind of people that should have kids because they make the best parents. I was thrilled to see their beautiful love story unfold. Just wish there was more to the ending, including a wedding ceremony and a little bit extra. Otherwise I feel this book was perfect and also one of my all-time favorites from the Delta series.

🔹Kudos Stella for PERFECT narration- as always!

🔸Namaste Stoker fans - can’t wait till the next exciting book!!

Rescuing Macie

Macie is the sister to Trucker in another story in this series. Colton his commander, was deeply affected by her and her anxiety problems did not deter him. But after one night together both got wires crossed and thought the other didn't want more. Now a month has passed and she is in trouble. He steps up to protect her from the unknown. I listened to this on audio and was caught up in the on going drama and love that both showed that could/would take them onto a permanent life together.
