Publisher's summary

Emotional, endearing, and full of romance, don't miss this brand new stand-alone heart-wrenching story by USA Today best-selling author Claudia Burgoa!

Tucker Decker is an infamous billionaire. He’s ruthless, impulsive, cold-hearted, and hot as sin. He likes his relationships casual and his commitments without strings. But when it comes to his former bandmates, he’d do anything for them. Tragedy demands sacrifice.

I’m an independent woman. I’ve learned never to ask for help. And I certainly didn't want it from Tucker. When my sister left us both to care for my niece, we realize co-parenting may be harder than we thought. Especially when we're fighting a desire for each other.

When the ghosts of our past come back to haunt us, will we find that there's still an us after all?

Needed dates to keep up with timeline

I listened to the book through audible and it was a cute story with some tragic twists and sexy banter but I do wish that it would have had dates for when things happened. Maybe in the book it was better broken up, but I found at times it was hard to catch on that the story skipped days/weeks/months without distinctive breaks in the narration. I think with stating that it was 2 weeks later that it would have made more sense and added to the story line this group was building and the struggles they went through.

Tucker grew up with a group of friends that all were in the band Sinners of Seattle, he also had a complex family life. He partied his life away, that is until his family cut him off. He now has his own successful business and is the most reliable among his friend group. When he meets Sage, he has this strong attraction to her. Little does he know how tightly their lives will be intertwined in the near future.

Sage has always been the black sheep of her family and an outsider after her divorce which her parents blame her for. She is only close with her grandparents and starting to get close with her sister. So mingling with her sisters new husband’s HUGE family is foreign for her. And Tucker is always flirting with her even though she has a boyfriend.

When tragedy strikes Sage’s sister and her new husband (Tucker’s best friend) right after they burn a baby into the world, the last thing Tucker and Sage expected was to be assigned the snuggles bugs new guardians. Now they both have to juggle being parents, their feelings for each other which as complicated and a legal battle for custody of the baby. This book was a very slow burn with harmless flirting and unexpected parenthood.

Nice Romance

I enjoyed this audiobook! Both narrators are new to me and did a decent job.

I spent the entire first half of the book exhausted with all the back story. We get introduced to so many side characters that I had to just accept defeat and stop taking notes. It got to the point that I didn't feel like I knew who anyone was. I figured it would work itself out and the important ones would shine enough to remember them. It kinda worked that way.

I was rooting so hard for Tucker and Sage! They were both so broken for their own reasons and deserved that HEA! This is a story of love, healing, and making sacrifices for the ones you love. It is also about forgiveness and choosing your own family. Such a good book!

Heartbreaking Love Story

This book follows Tucker Decker, and if you read the Perfect Everlasting Duet, then you know he's the son that Thea gave up for adoption. We learned that Thea eventually fights to get Tucker back, as he was treated poorly by his adoptive parents. Unfortunately, Tucker still held some resentment towards her, as he could not forgive her for ever abandoning him. His painful past makes him cold and ruthless, the only people he loves are his former bandmates from The Sinner of Seattle.

I have to be honest, the book was kind of hard to pick up at the beginning, but fortunately, I have read the duet featuring Tucker's parents, so I was not completely lost. There are a lot of characters involved, and it can get confusing really fast. This is a very slow burn, I have to say the romance didn't really pick up until 70% of the book, so much going on around them, it's more like a family drama for the good half part of the book.

It's very heartbreaking, frustrating and overall sad story with a happy ending. I thought what happened to Tucker and Sage was bad enough, but then we were thrown with a tragedy of May's parents which is utterly devastating. This book just tore my heart out and put it back together. If you're ever looking for an emotional romance that will punch you in the gut, look no further than Claudia Burgoa's book.

There are many triggering content in this book, please take care when you're reading.

Both narrators are new to me, and I'm sorry to say that they didn't quite work for me. The male narrator sounds so excited all the time, I feel like listening to a TV Show host talking. The female narrator did a bit better on the emotional part, unfortunately, I don't like her "male" voice, find it really distracting.

A Slow Start

3/5 ⭐

3/5 🎧

This wasn't my favorite Claudia book... The beginning was very slow and took me a while to get into. I found this book to feel like it was more about Mae than it was Tuck and Sage. I love slow burn, but this didn't feel like this, there wasn't any tension until almost the very end. The story was lovely for what it was, but not what I expected from a romance. I also felt like so many of the smaller storylines were unresolved or just fizzled out including her ex, his relationship with his parents, her life in Oregon and more.

I did love the found family aspect. It was wonderful to see Sage find a place where she was loved and cared for. And Mae was adorable and I love that she found a good home.

The audio was okay... I didn't love either narrator and had a hard time picking a speed. My usual felt too fast, but slowing it down didn't help... I ended up sticking with my usual and just dealing.

Emotional & Angsty Billionaire Romance

𝐔𝐬 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮 by Claudia Burgoa is an emotionally charged book about two wounded souls coming together in the wake of unspeakable tragedy to care for a defenseless baby girl, but also find their own light in the darkness in the process. To the world at large, Tucker Decker has been the famous frontman of the Sinners of Seattle, a ruthless businessman, and generous philanthropist, but few people know the deep emotional scars he carries from his tumultuous childhood. The enduring feeling of not being enough leaves a mark on a person. Constantly trying to save your friends without being dragged into the abyss yourself is futile in some cases. When he met Sage, the chemistry between them was obvious and instant, but they just weren’t ready for each other, as she had demons from her own past still dogging her heels. Life had to throw more tragedy, drama, and sacrifice at them, in order for them to be ready to fight for something better.

I listened to the audio version narrated by George Newbern & Grace Grant, and I’m honestly blown away! I don’t know how they read this beautifully painful and poignant story without getting emotional themselves!!🥹 The emotions throughout the story were so raw and gritty, with twists that had me crying. Don’t get me wrong, there were happy moments too! The way Tucker totally melted for the baby was a major swoon factor!! I just love the way the narrators were able to embody the full range of emotions, as well as all the different characters! And that ending? So much happiness!!😍

Tucker and Sage

I listened to the audio version of this book.

Story 4 stars
Female Narrator 3.5 stars
Male Narrator 4 stars

I love the Decker family. Hands down one of the best families I have had the honor of reading. This book was more twisted than the other duets I have read/listened to, but none the less it was good. To me, Tucker Decker started out as the ultimate spoiled boy who didn't understand how good he had life. He had struggles and definite unfairness in his younger years, but as an adult, he seemed really spoiled and uncaring of how he had received the good. I was really happy to see Sage and Mae have him realize the good in his life.

Thank you for the audio file, this is my honest opinion.

An emotional read

I received the audiobook from Forever & Always PR, thank you! All opinions are my own.

I listened to this audiobook in like two days and it was really good.

Tucker is a billionaire, impulsive and definitely doesn't want commitments. He has his group of friends who are like family, they were all part of a band and he’d do anything for them. Sage has a tragic past. She recently learnt how to be independent and the last thing she expects is to meet someone like Tucker, a friend of her sister's new boyfriend, and actually like him. But tragic circumstances bring them and Tucker's friends together so they'll have a chance to get to know each other.

This was a very emotional read. There are a few things that will break your heart but there are others that will put it back together.

I love the whole group of characters and their friendship. And I just found out there are at least two series (from what I understand) that are the previous stories from some of the characters in here. I haven't read any other book by Claudia Burgoa but now I kinda want to check those other series to get more about some of these characters! I love how you could feel like these friends were like family.

The romance is a slow burn which isn't usually my favorite but it has a reason here and it felt right. It was very cute to see how Tucker was always flirting with Sage and I loved their chemistry.

I was very surprised a couple of times cause I didn't remember details from the synopsis and I'm glad I didn't.

The audiobook was really good, I love that there were two narrators and they did a great job.

I feel like the ending was beautiful but also very rushed, I needed more of their romance and their story.

Like I said, I feel like I might want to read the other series about these characters and how they got here.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The content that was available was pretty good. However, there’s holes. Gaps in the story. There’s so many time jumps that it’s actually little difficult to follow. There’s no clear indication of how much time has passed and when. Nothing ever felt finished or complete. And because of this I didn’t build any sort of relationship or connection to the characters. Everything fell flat.

Beautiful Story

Not gonna lie, I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did! Such a pleasant surprise. The start was a little rocky for me because I kept getting confused with all the characters and the jumping back and forth, but that quickly subsided into a heart wrenching story of family, love and loss. I don't always read blurbs all the way through and I never look at reviews before starting a book so I was going into this one pretty blind. I actually cried at a couple parts. I am not usually a book crier so it caught me off guard. The slow burn of the romance was the perfect pace and after the rocky start I found myself feeling all the feels and loving the characters and their story development.
