Summary

~USA TODAY BESTSELLER~

Kidnapped. Taken to a private island.

I never thought this could happen to me. I never imagined one chance meeting on the eve of my eighteenth birthday could change my life so completely.

Now I belong to him. To Julian. To a man who is as ruthless as he is beautiful—a man whose touch makes me burn. A man whose tenderness I find more devastating than his cruelty.

My captor is an enigma. I don’t know who he is or why he took me. There is a darkness inside him-a darkness that scares me even as it draws me in.

My name is Nora Leston, and this is my story.

mundane and dull

i found this book to be like 50 shades, but without consent, and as if it was written for people who found 50 too full on, would not recomend

Unlike 50 Shades of Grey - lack of consent!

I've read a few erotica books, 50 Shades being one of them, which I really enjoyed. Twist Me was my first venture into 'dark erotica'/ captive romance and frankly it wasn't for me. I don't quite understand how people can find the sex scenes in this book arousing in any way considering the lack of consent - it's essentially rape. This book is extremely different from 50 Shades of Grey and other BDSM books by one very important element - CONSENT! For once in my reading life I actually was fast forwarding the sex scenes. I enjoyed the storyline itself even if Julian's character was a bit 'flat' (I suppose the author wanted to create a 'mysterious enigma' thing for him, but this meant you simply do not get to know him at all). Remove all the sex/rape from this book and I would have really enjoyed the story. The narrator's voice at times got bit annoying.

Disappointing.

So. It's like the author read 'captive in the dark' by CJ Roberts (which is fantastic by the way) and took inspiration from that.. Then wrote a bad book. To say Julian a sadist, he spanks her a few times. Wow. The pace of the book is weird, too much time is missing from various chapters, it could of been a good book if it was double the length but it seems rushed. Everyone moaning about non consent, well that's a kink. It's my kink. It only really touches on it tbh. I do really like the performance by the audio reader however. I love her voice so although the story isn't great, it's an easy listen.

If you haven't read captive in the dark and tge following 2 after that, go there IMMEDIETLY. if you have, unfortunately I haven't found anything else as good yet.

Dark and magnificent

What did you like most about Twist Me?

There was so much suspense, it was impossible to guess how the story would end.

Who was your favorite character and why?

While the heroine was more clear headed than most, and much more sympathetic, I found a very soft spot for the anti-hero, Julian. A true product of an appalling environment, he never seemed to be gratuitously evil; and as a magnetically-handsome hero, well, what more can one say.........

What does Shirl Rae bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The narrator has an excellent range of 'voices' that help to distinguish between characters and an equally wide range of expression to enhance the emotions of each scene.

Any additional comments?

All in all, I thoroughly recommend this very adult book to everyone who looks for unputdownability in their reading.
