1,000 thumbs up!

Man, this book is a trip. It's quick and dirty with some pretty funny parts and equally sick parts. Im a big fan of high tension, gooey bloody horror so this was perfect for me. The narrator is good too. She does a good job with the different voices and keeping the scenes intense.

Fun book

Loved the idea and think it would make for a great movie. The reader was great and kept me in the story.

Lots of icy (and red-gooey) fun!

A fun, lightning-paced bloodbath on a mountain in Colorado.

This was a really enjoyable romp of wild horror. Some friends go skiing in Colorado, and after an avalanche, they start seeing different sorts of animals which seem to be hybrids with humans. And they're big and mean and have sharp teeth and claws as well.

The monsters are varied and the action literally never stops throughout, not letting you breathe. This book relies on its premise more than it does its characters to compel the reader, but it works, and that isn't to say the characters are uninteresting. They are. It's just that the story is king here, and keeps things clipping along at a few light-years per second, all the way to the final pages.

Like horror? Don't miss it. If you're not into horror, the gore and savage fights to the death may not sit well with you, but I'd say buck up and read it anyway. It's a whole lot of fun.

Couldn't put it down!

Once I started listening to Night Of 1,000 Beasts by John Palisano, I couldn't stop! I finished listening to the audio book read by Scottie Calif in 1 day. The detailed descriptions kept me captivated, wanting more, the sensual scenes made me blush and the poetic justices made me think about mankind and how we treat other sentient beings. Even though I enjoyed the justice, I also felt sorry for each victim and did not wish the torture they endured. It truly made an excellent point as to what it must feel like to have no mercy and to be treated as a "thing" rather than a "being." Extremely visual, entertaining, interesting and horrific in the deepest, fullest way possible. The only thing that could have been better was the performance by Scottie Calif. There were several repeats (over 10) in the audio, and a possible skipping of chapters. Highly recommend this book.

Couldn't put it down! (and can't kill the beasts!)

Night of 1000 Beasts is a devastating, brutal tale of survival with a relatable cast of characters. A group of friends are stranded on a mountain after an avalanche but the frigid cold is not the only thing they have to survive! There is a more haunting, ancient, mythological even, group of beasts terrorizing the mountainside. There are moments of great terror, but the fear is balanced by the characters. One can really relate to the emerging lead, Keith, who feels forgotten, left out, unloved, but has an immeasurable desire to survive, and that in itself is admirable. One can most relate to his desire to be loved, and the unrequited love he suffers while he struggles to survive an unimaginable nightmare. This is a fun read from start to finish, though, reader beware! Great horrors lie in wait for you!

An instant classic!

Remember when SciFi channel used to run creature features on Thursday nights? Thats what this book is like. Its gory and fast paced, full of dark humor and neck breaking twists.
The plot is sort of The Purge: Animal Edition. The beasts of the woods rise up to do unto us what we do to them, including; boiling alive, hunting in skin camoflauge, "dog" fighting and bow hunting.
This book goes to some, shall we say, twisted places, so Calif (formerly of such literature as 'Hucow the Moo Cow' under the pseudonym Peter Stewart, and Witch Switch under the Calif name) is a perfect choice of narrator. Her often allof, gallows humor had me in stitches, while her nail biting realness kept me engaged and sympathetic with the characters as they raced through the darkest night of the century. She even starts singing about vodka at one point!
Night of 1,000 Beasts is a quick listen, but a real bang for your buck.

Great Story

This is a great story, but it is not unabridged. The narrator, not so good.

Terrible narration!

The narrator ruins the book. Had to give up as listening to that narrator was like fingernails on a chalkboard.
