Publisher's summary

A hilarious, opposites attract/enemies to lovers romance, The Fine Line Between Love and Hate will have you laughing and swooning at the same time.

She's not a quiet librarian.

My landlord is infuriating.

He's uptight and rigid, right down to those dress shirts that do nothing to hide the muscle underneath. Sure, I never read the tenant's agreement. I have now. In fact, I've memorized it and I'm going to use it to my advantage while staying within the bounds of my contract. Is it my fault that those little decorative touches drive Charlie nuts? And who can resist purchasing a few vulgar gnomes to enhance the landscape?

He's uptight and rigid.

Note to self: Do not allow my mother to choose a tenant for my house ever again.

She's the opposite of the quiet librarian I'm expecting. My tenant is outspoken, vibrant, and seems to get off on pushing all my buttons.

It drives me nuts, but there's something there. Something that sparks a fire in me and when we're not butting heads those flames ignite.

Whatever is happening couldn't possibly work. We're too different. I'm too set in my ways.

Evie pushes me out of my comfort zone and she doesn't seem willing to give up, even though we hate each other more often than not.

An opposites attract love story

I give this love story a 3.5 stars. I found Charlie's OCD behavior totally annoying although at the end he was able to compromise with Evie & have their happily ever after ending. I enjoyed listening to Heather Firth's narration, would definitely buy audiobooks narrated by her.

Opposites Attract with a little help from gnomes!

If you need a good laugh out loud story, this is the book to listen to. Ashley Erin has written such a heart-wrenching, heartwarming, and funny love story. Evie is a free spirit that grew up in the foster care system. She never had close friends because she moved around a lot. But she is determined to be successful. Charlie is very rigid in his ways and is borderline OCD. He is her landlord so you know that they are going to clash. I enjoy how they have friends that give them insight and help them on their journey to love. Evie devises a funny and crazy way to annoy Charlie.

Heather Firth makes this story even more delightful with her excellent narration. She gives her characters distinct voices and brings out their emotions. She gives Evie such a mischievous nature and Charlie even sounds rigid when he speaks.

I received this Audible book and voluntarily wrote an honest review. I highly recommend this book. It is hilarious as well as serious. It also looks at ways couples can compromise but yet keep their own personalities.

Opposites Attract

This book is really good. I laughed out loud many times while listening. The author created characters that are engaging and fun. Narration was good without being annoying. And the gnomes make the story all the better.

Light, fun, steamy, and emotional romance

A light, fun, steamy, and emotional romance. Charlie and Evie really couldn’t be more different. He is a type A, super rigid, very uptight person, likes things exactly how he likes them, and doesn’t ever rock the boat. Evie is a free spirited, happy, light hearted woman who is looking to make her dream life happen now that she’s found her dream job in this small town. But with Charlie as her landlord, patience will be tested on both sides.

There’s no doubt they are physically attracted to each other. But beyond that, they drive each other completely crazy. Charlie is super picky and strict with the lease, picking apart every tiny possible thing that isn’t exactly to his standards and liking. Evie, meanwhile, is trying to bring some joy and color into her life, and doesn’t want to let Charlie stifle her, so she is finding ways to push his buttons without being evicted. It’s really a fun push and pull to witness. And I have to admit, some of Charlie’s demands are infuriating, and I’m totally on Evie’s side most of the time. And then there are the gnomes. Ah, the gnomes are just the absolute best, for so many reasons. And the friends and family that get involved, they are well done also. Charlie’s parents, really, they’re just the sweetest. Charlie’s best friends are hilarious. And Evie’s best friend, who has her own little secondary plot that helps move the story a bit as well, is also a good addition to the story.

Overall, it is a very light and fun romantic comedy. However, there is a point in the point that really just broke my heart completely for Evie. So there is a good emotional pull to the story as well, because at that point, I was all in on their relationship. It added some good depth the the story, and made it more real, I think. In the end, I really loved how it all came together, the HEA being quite perfect for them - including the epilogue, which absolutely fit them to a tee. I have to admit, I’m hoping to see another book in this world of characters - I get major « brother’s best friend trope » vibes from Tash and Darcy, and I think that could be another great story!

Audiobook review - the narrator was excellent. She did a great job pulling the emotions out of the characters, be it joy, sadness, lust, frustration, or playfulness. The only way to improve would be to have a separate male narrator for Charlie, but given the single narrator, she did a wonderful job.

Cute & Fun Listen

I received a code for a free listen from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.
While the story itself was a bit predictable I totally ended up liking it more than I thought I would. Charlie and Evie played off each other very well and I found myself rooting for their HEA very early on. For Evie to bring out the fun in Charlie and for him to show her a stable side that she wasn't use to.

While I found the narration very slow at normal speed It was very enjoyable once I changed the speed.

Hilarious read

First I live with someone just like Charlie so I could totally relate to this relationship. It can be hard but you have to laugh at it too. This book kept me entertained all the way through. Loved how the town was betting on them staying a couple. Watching Charlie fight for Eve in the end was perfect. Highly recommend this audiobook. The narration was spot on. Was please to find a new author to enjoy.

Loyalisa30

This is a funny little rom-com of how opposites attract! The quirky yet adorable heroine has to come to terms with her faults while forgiving the hero of his faults. On the other hand, the hero with his OCD tendencies has to learn to overcome his strict issues of insecurity and accommodate the differences of the heroine. The narration should be in dual POV and left something to be desired.

Typical Romance - Intriguing Characters

Book: A Fine Line Between Love and Hate
By: Ashley Erin
Narrated by: Heather Firth
Disclaimer: I have received this book free in return for my honest review.

Performance:
Usually there is at least one voice I can’t stand per novel but Heather nailed all of them.

Story:
The romance was good but for some reason it wasn’t a huge deal for me. It was cute and the “pranks” were hilarious but what really interested me was Charlie. His personality was unlike one I’ve ever seen in a book. It was amazing to see his point of view and I could feel his internal battle with perfection.

Overall:
Super happy I got the chance to read this and definitely recommend it.
