Narrator on fast forward?

I picked up this audiobook because I love the Adept Solutions series by this same author. Although I enjoyed this audiobook, there were a few things that disappointed. First, the narrator seemed like she was on fast forward for the first part of the book. Eventually, either she slowed a little or I got used to it. Other than that, I guess I didn't understand why Tatya was so mean to her former friend, Sean. She thought he had no say in his turning, so why did she punish him? I also didn't fully understand why she remained so vicious toward Vance, even after he helped her and she learned of their history and connection. Finally, I thought the battle with Angelus was a bit anticlimactic after all the build-up. I don't want to leave any spoilers, but the conclusion seemed pretty swift. Still, it was an enjoyable listen overall, and I will likely pick up the next book in eBook or audio.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Unique take on vampires, demons, shamans, and magical healers

This is an interesting story with flash backs from previous lives where the heroine went through so much turmoil and anguish. She does give the word stubborn a whole new meaning. It doesn’t matter how much help the master vampire offers her she declines and always seems annoyed with him. Yet, he helps her over, and over again.

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

The world building was well done and the characters well developed. Although, I felt like smacking the main character a few times for her dumb stubbornness.

The story wrapped up well with some unsolved issues that will be addressed in the next couple of books. I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next.

I’m trying

I have been trying to finish this book for weeks now. The narrator is not one I’ve heard before and honestly just not for me. I don’t like leaving bad reviews as everyone is different and enjoys different things.

Great story!

The story is well written, creative, and intriguing. The narrator has a pleasant voice however I think she needs to slow down just a little because it sounds like someone speed reading.

A good start

This 1st book takes a while to develop, both characters and a story line. But throughout, our young female protagonist tries her best to do the right thing, even as she is distracted by every swinging dick she meets. I'm sure book 2 will continue to improve in all regards.

A heartbreaking journey through time

Healers magic is an unusual take on the vampire genre. Our young protagonist is a healer, who has been stalked by a vampire through many reincarnation. Each time she is born again she ends up being killed, to prevent the evil antagonist from taking over the world. In this reincarnation there are finally hope, but she has to go through a lot of hardship and sacrifice to win.
It’s a very dark story with no HEA yet, but with a world and characters that are well developed and which adds an interesting flair to the genre. The audiobook version has a really good narrator who adds a lot to the story. I have owned the ebook versions of the book for a while, but can say that the audio version was better. That alone says a lot about the narrator. I can warmly recommend the book to those who like the darker types of paranormal romance.
I got the audio version of this book for free, and since I liked the book, I am leaving a voluntary review.
