I want a sexy chef!

Seriously! Where can I get one? I need to find one just like Finn King!

Ok, back to the book. I went into this book with a really weird question... What in the world is a foodie novel? I had no idea going in but after reading this, I feel the need to find more in this category. Hot men making hot food? Sign me up!!! This is a great addition to the series. I really enjoyed how this story overlapped with the first book. I cannot wait for the rest to come to audio!

The narration was amazing!

Pretty good overall

Overall this was a pretty good listen. The narration is what really kept me interested. The story was okay but there was something missing for me. While it may not have been for me I encourage others to listen because it may be what you’ve been looking for.

This was so good!!

Finn, Deans brother, is a chef at an upscale restaurant. He’s good at what he does! When he hears Hailey deconstruct a dish just by tasting it... he hires her to help him with his other pursuits.

Hailey was hired to be the hostess at his restaurant, but she lied to get the job. She meets Finn, not knowing he’s the chef... and tells him she lied to get a job... oops.

Their story is funny and sweet.. but complicated in ways you have to hear to understand! It’s worth your time!! Buy it and listen!

Alan Taylor is a new voice for me. His voice is smooth and pleasant.. I’d listen to him again!

Finn can cook for me any day

Finn is focused on his career as a chef. Hailey wants nothing to do with romance after being hurt. But when Finn runs into the new hire, all bets are off. The chemistry between Finn and Hailey are instant. Sparks fly and light ever burner in the kitchen as these two find each other. I loved the interaction between them. The obstacles, such as no interoffice romance, were perfect to give them something to strive for. Every romance that needs work, is always worth it. I found myself always routing for their happily ever after.

Alan Taylor was a great choice for the narration. He brought Finn to life. Alan had a great voice for Hailey. It was easy to follow his narration and get lost in the story. I enjoyed listening to Alan Taylor and hope to hear more from him.

Sweet, sassy, and entertaining!

Narrator did a good job. He did a good job for both main characters; a little slow at times, but overall, a good clear listening experience.

Sweet connection between Finn and Hailee in this one. This book takes place at the same time as the first book, but can be read as a stand-alone. Hailee has had poor taste in men and is tired of her hometown, so she fibs some to get a hostess job at a fancy restaurant to make some money to get out of town. Finn is the chef at the restaurant. The two have a bit of a meet cute, but try to deny their feelings because he’s her boss. Hailee knows very little about her job and food, so Finn helps her out and they grow closer. Unfortunately, Hailee is a scaredy cat about relationships, so she acts like a brat a lot. That got annoying at times; Finn was always putting himself out there and she would just be rude. She creates the problems for herself; I get she had some heartbreak in the past, but it’s so obvious Finn is legit. I liked her okay, but not a huge fan. Finn is awesome and so respectful, so I was all on board for him to find his happiness. They do have some good chemistry and passion, so I was rooting for them. Overall, an entertaining story. I also loved getting a bit more story for Emma and Dean from the first book. I’m not a huge fan of the premise for the next book or the characters, but I’d still like to check it out. So far, this series has been great!

Foodie romance

Hailey is the inexperienced Hostess, and Finn the the chef. Finn and Hailey not only the have the kitchen heated up, also their connection with each other. Hailey is holding back her emotions due to past failed relationships. A foodie story that is fun to listen to.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story narrated by Alan Taylor. 🎧Audiobookobsessionreviewer🎧

Fabulous Story & Listen🎧 Captivating & Enjoyable!

I am loving the men of Evandale County, the women are pretty awesome too! Alyne Hart is a gifted author with a great writing style, she creates stories and characters that are realistic and easy to relate to. “How We Fall” is second book of the series but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. This is Finn King and Hailee Ferris’s story. Finn is a chef and the king of the kitchen, he runs it like a well oiled machine. He has a special relationship with food and has a great reputation to uphold. Hailee Ferris wants out of her small town, she lied about her experience to get her hostess job at Acquiesce one of the top restaurants. Her first day on the job she gets sent to the store to pick up ingredients, some she never heard of. Luckily there was someone able to help her, a hot looking someone. She hurries back to the restaurant only to find out that someone is her new boss, Chef King. I loved how everything plays out in this book, Finn and Hailee getting to know each other, the fun in the kitchen, the drama, the angst, the heartfelt moments and start of a hot romance. There are some great secondary characters too, I adored her Grandma and Finn’s sous chef. It was great to see Dean from the 1st book again too. I highly recommend this book, it is an enjoyable listen and it captivated me from start to end. Alyne Hart, thank you for another great story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

Alan Taylor is a terrific narrator and voice artist. He brings the characters to life, gives them their voice and personality as well as heart and attitude. He does a great job portraying the characters and projecting their emotions and passion into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen 🎧

Hungry

Finn King. Chef extraordinaire believes his life is perfect. Hailee Ferris believes that her life is meaningless in her small town and that she won't really be living until she can make her escape. Hailee lands a job as a hostess in Finn's restaurant and their two worlds collide. He's a perfectionist, she's casual. She challenges him. He scares her. They have both been burned before and Hailee may not be brave enough to take a chance.

This is a cute foodie read. I loved Finn, loved his fake-french talking sous chef, and the frank-speaking bartender down the road. I loved the Grandmothers. I had a more mixed reaction to Hailee. It was almost like the author couldn't decide who her character was at times. She would be sassy, full of fun one moment and scared of life the next. Maybe this makes her more realistic but it also left me conflicted. I don't like cowardly characters. Finn was much more patient and understanding than I would have been. Still, there was no denying their fate and it was an entertaining read.

Alan Taylor was fantastic voicing the men. His voice is deep, commanding, sexy. So...he was not as successful as sassy Hailee or the sweet grandmas. This is not on him. He's too good to pass by for the male roles. The author should have gone dual narration. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Sweet romance

I found this foodie romance to be sweet in that the H wasn’t afraid to face his fears and show vulnerability (I’m a sucker for a guy like that) not to fond of the h being skittish. I liked the slow burn though not instantly and unrealistically in love. My biggest complaint is the narrator. He has an amazing voice don’t get me wrong and did a very good job with the male acting but his female performance it’s like he didn’t even try. For fist chapter or two I thought I accidentally got into an LBGTQ romance. Wasn’t until they were at the restaurant that I realized it was a female because of the name. I never expect a man to be able to nail a female part and I’m ok with that but they usually try to raise their voice an octave at least. In this book there was no difference between the H and the h. Even grandma had a more feminine voice then the h. Which really meant I couldn’t get into the sex scenes at all (a first for me). This book would be so much better if it was re-recorded either with a person that has a bigger range or dual narrators.
