Publisher's summary

A tortured soul meets a damaged family.... A lonely man, a widowed woman, a carefree boy, and a broken girl.... Can the four come together and help heal each other? Or will fear of the unknown and guilt of the past keep them apart?

Her whispered prayers break her....

At night, as she's drifting off to sleep, I press my ear to the door and listen to her heart-wrenching pleas. Her words are agony to my healing heart, but I cherish the sound of them, for that's the only time I ever hear my beautiful daughter speak. Since her father died two years ago, she's grown quiet and withdrawn. Cat's Valley was to be our new beginning, a place where my family and I can heal, but what we find there is so much more.

Scars mar his body. Pain has left him in pieces....

Four years ago, I lost the two things I cherished most in the world. They were ripped from my arms in the most painful and cruel way. Since then, I've kept to myself, preferring to stay away from the pitying looks and murmured rumors. Everything changed when she and her children barged into my life. It was an accident, and I don't deserve them, but now that they've stepped into my life, I'm not sure I can let them go.

Beautiful and emotional. MUST LISTEN!!!

I love, love, LOVED this story! Whispered Prayers of a Girl is such an emotionally heartbreaking story. Alexander and Gwen have been hurt in the past and are still affected by it in the present. Still, their chemistry and connection was undeniably strong and so beautiful to watch unfold. Even more beautiful was the bond between their kids. My poor heart couldn’t take the feels that produced.

Narration by Nicole Blessing and Rhett Samuel Price did an amazing job narrating. Both are new to me narrators, but they completely blew me away with their ability to bring to life all the emotions in the story. They made Gwen and Alexander and all their emotions come to life and the story was better for it. 5 Stars.

Plus and minus

I liked that there were two actors doing the voices; however, I did not like the imitations of the opposite gender voices when the female could have done the female voices it broke the continuity for me

Have the tissues handy...........

Whispered Prayers of a Girl is an achingly tragic and yet beautiful story of loss, recovery and love. All four of the main characters are suffering from the death of not only a person but of any light in their lives. Alexander has let loss turn him into a taciturn, bitter recluse, and Gwendolyn is struggling to overcome her loss, so she can be strong for her children, Daniel and Kelsey. What starts out as a new beginning for Gwendolyn and her children quickly turns potentially risky when they are stranded with a broken down vehicle in a small town of strangers. Alexander is very reluctant to give them the shelter that they need, but what a miracle this entire debacle turns out to be for this foursome. Although the developing relationship between Alexander and Gwendolyn is very passionate and moving, it is truly the healing bond between Alexander and Kelsey that stole my heart and brought my tears. This story is definitely much deeper and more emotionally wrenching then many romances, but the ending is worth all of the gut twisting and hand wringing throughout this incredible book.

The narration by Nicole Blessing and Rhett Samuel Price is phenomenal. Dual narration is my personal favorite, especially with narrators of this caliber. Blessing has a very light, feminine voice, and I found her very believable for Gwendolyn's character. Price has a very deep, throaty voice that perfectly suits both Alexander's gruff rudeness at the beginning and his love and passion as the story progresses. Although it would be difficult to surpass the prose and story line of this book, the narrators actually achieve that goal by making it even more moving as an audiobook.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

Finding Healing from the past

This was a tender story that was very hard to put down, so I could go to sleep. Gwendolyn is making her way for herself and her kids. They each had to deal with the death of a husband/father too early in life. They are forced to stay with Alexander when their truck ran off the side of the road in the middle of a snowstorm. Alexander is fighting the demons of his past. His character is holding on to guilt that is drowning him in his present life. The relationship that develops between Alexander and Gwendolyn is hot. Alexander's tender heart is coaxed out by Gwendolyn's children. The narrator's did an excellent job in the book. I liked having two narrator's. It made the book more real. My only real issue with the book was the cursing, but it was also a disclaimer on the book. The situations that made the characters who they were, were tragic and descriptive in the book. There is some bedroom scenes as well. Overall this was a great story with a lot of depth and real characters. I recommend to those that love a romance that pulls at your heartstrings and is not offended by bedroom scenes and cursing.

A beautiful heartrending story

I have just found a new favorite author. I'll be looking for more by Alex Grayson. This book had me all over the place emotionally. It was well written with a touching storyline. I fell completely in love with the characters. I may have enjoyed reading it myself even more.

Rhett Price and Nicole Blessing performed well and emotionally. I wasn't expecting such a low, gravelly sound from Mr. Price. He grew on me quickly. Ms. Blessing had times where there were...pauses? I wondered if I had accidentally hit the speed button and changed the tempo of the reading. But on the whole, they really drew me in, and I hated pausing the book when necessary.
