Publisher's summary

Some secrets are worth dying for...Military historian Trina Sorensen has a nearly impossible task before her: get recalcitrant but tempting former Navy SEAL Keith Hatcher to reveal what happened during a top secret Somalia op five years ago. Recent history isn't usually her forte, but the Navy wants a historian's perspective and has given her the high security clearance to get the job done. Keith isn't just refusing to tell Trina about the op, he's protecting a national secret that could destroy the lives of those he cares about the most. But not wanting to talk about a covert mission doesn't mean he isn't interested in spending time with the sexy historian, and the first time they kiss, it's explosive. When the past comes pounding on Keith's door, he'll do anything to keep Trina safe...Anything, that is, except tell her the secret that could get them both killed.

Withholding Evidence

I've read the previous 2 books in the series. Narration and storylines are good... great mysteries in general. I'd seriously consider buying more from this author. The romance is corny, falling in love SO quick... not just falling in love, but falling into bed in the first 30 mins. Why do good writers feel the need to cheapen their story with your instant love and very graphic sex scenes? How about a little less sex and more romance? I'm not sure I'll be reading the rest of the books.

Another great listen

Rachel Grant just seems to get the balance right. She tells a great story where there is drama, sex and well developed characters. This book was no exception. While not my favourite book from this author, it was still a fantastic listen.
One of the things I like best about Ms Grant is her ability to write intelligent, capable female leads. She holds the men in her books accountable for their actions as well as the women. I love that the hero is intelligent, but also has emotions that makes him less than perfect. I love that the heroine is ‘allowed’ to just like sex - no shame, no body image issues, no issue around does this make her a slut or that she has to only like sex if her emotions are involved.
I gave this story 4 stars just because it is a bit slow in places and the female lead was a bit more annoying than usual - but still great.

Withholding

This was the best of the 3 Evidence books that I've read, in that the hero wasn't a jerk 100% of the time. The two made a good couple & while they sometimes reacted badly, they were adult enough to think it thru after a while & forgive each other. Thumbs up!

Great book

Loved this story, totally action packed and full of surprises. Just the right amount of steamy scenes and not grossly detailed either. Great narrator as well.

Not my favorite of the series

Rachel Grant isn’t my favorite in the romantic suspense genre, but one I go to when nothing else is out from an author I like more. She’s okay, not great.

This story seemed a bit more contrived than some of the others. First off was how quickly our romantic leads were absorbed with each other. I would’ve liked to see that part developed a bit more, instead of smack, “can’t live without you.”

Also our female protagonist/romantic lead was supposed to be insecure about her appeal as a woman. We’re introduced to her that way rather explicitly. But, with one minor incident as the exception, she never acts that way. She’s the sexual instigator most of the time and evidently has thigh-high boots and teddies she has ready and waiting to be pulled out for the right guy. Those are not the behaviors of an insecure woman.

If you like Rachel Grant a lot, maybe you’ll like this, but I don’t think it’s one of her better books.

The narrator is fine, doesn’t mispronounce words, overact or jar you out of the story. She’s not one of my favorites, but that is more about preference than competence.

Deadly Secrets

When Military historian Trina Sorensen is tasked with getting information on a top secret Somali op she never thought it would bring Navy SEAL Keith Hatcher into her life.

As infuriating as he is gorgeous Keith refuses to reveal what happened. He can't when he's protecting a national secret that could destroy lives.

Keith knows he should stay away from the sexy historian, but he doesn't want to. As they draw closer it becomes apparent that keeping his deadly secrets could cost him everything, including the woman of his dreams.

He will do anything to keep Trina safe...Anything, that is, except tell her the secret that could get them both killed.

I really enjoyed listening for free with Audible Escape to this Hot Military Romantic Suspense with brilliant narration by Nicol.

Same theme, different characters.

I really enjoyed the first 3 audiobooks I listened to by this author (flashpoint series), so I quickly started a "catch-up". After 3 more... this is like an audio soft porn... same detailed sex ...think I'll return. Sad, seems like there is a creative mind for some of the stories, but maybe I'll wait till a new novel and see if it continues.

Grabbed me in the first few minutes

This is a fast paced book, as is the style of Rachel Grant. The reader/listener is quickly thrust into the midst of, she needs to do what??? and can that sexy guy step over here for a few minutes??
She is a military historian and he has a story to tell - but won't. It's fast, fun and sexy. Quick twist at the end.
It's fun to listen to this type of book. Not brain surgery, but captures my attention.
