Publisher's summary

Sophia Cova lived a quiet, normal life, shadowed in sadness after the loss of her parents in a tragic airline accident. With her older brother being her only living relative and her anchor, Sophia is sure she’s destined for a brighter future. But that was before she was taken.

Stolen from her mundane, orderly life, she was drugged and woke to every woman’s worst nightmare.

With only four grimy basement walls and a rancid mattress, she loses her sense of time and preserves what’s left of her dignity by hurtling herself into the safety of her mind. The men, the beatings, they come and go with no reaction - until she hears one word that sends an arctic chill through her body: sold.

On the eve of Sophia’s bidding, all hell breaks loose in the mansion of horrors. Gunfire and screams erupt all around her as panic rises.

Snatched by one monster only to be taken by another, Sophia slowly starts to learn that not everything is as it seems. When secrets unravel and the twisted game of cat and mouse ensues, The Puppeteer pulls his favorite strings, and chaos brews.

Brought me to tears

This story is so riveting. Sophia goes through so much in this book and while I don’t normally give a perfect rating to a book that is a cliff hanger ( sorry if it’s a secret) but this is so good.
Ava Lucas is superb in her narration. Her ability to voice so many characters is incredible. I am truly impressed at her ability to voice so many male voices that are truly distinct and that I forgot it was a female narrator. Can’t wait to listen to the second book in this series.

Tragedy and love

Sophia has been through something no one should for the past 9 months with monsters. She beaten, abused, and half dead. When she's rescued and thinks she saw her guardian angel she falls hard, but falling in love can only bring the chaos to their front door.

Overall a good story

This is obviously just book 1 of the series and leaves on a cliffhanger but what I found to be the most of my biggest issues with the audio book was that at many times and for most of the story it seemed as if the narrator was to close to the microphone and caused it to be hard at times more than others to understand what was being said. However other than that it was a overall decent story but nothing over the top but definitely worth listening to and extremely enjoyable as a matter of fact I already just finished purchasing the next book in this series and what's different so far is I get to hear from the man's POV .
I really just thought that the beginning was really exciting and awesome but then for most of the rest of the book it just seemed to fall flat and I wished there was a bit more action and twists and turns. So, that is just how I feel before knowing what is going to happen in the next following books in this series so its still early to really tell;)

GREAT STORY.. BUT!

so overall this was a great story line, however let's get into a few things. Ava Lucas performance gets a 5 star review from me! I mean sis is amazing, her voice acting skill are phenomenal the way she deepens her voice to sound like a man, the many accents she can do PHENOMENAL! I am girl fanning so hard.

NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT THE STORY! I gave it 3 stars 🌟 yes it was enjoyable the story begins with a bang, it's dark it's sad and it's also eye opening. for me personally the profound message about human trafficking and sex slavery was eye opening. we know it exists but is this something we really think about in our every day life? this story made me want to conscious and aware of my surroundings at all times. though this story is fiction the message damn sure isn't. however after Sophia is rescued the story takes a turn and I can't lie, Soto lost me a few times. I mean i felt like I was reading a cheesy romance novel that talks solely about a man's eyes. got damn girl, how many ways can you describe Creed has sharp sliver grey eyes WE FREAKING GET IT. it got so damn annoying 😒 🙄 😑 😤 I found myself literally rolling my eyes, like shut the heck up about his eyes already.

let's talk Sophia. whewww that is one whiney ass adult. they way this heroine whined you would think she was 16 and not 24. my goodness she is so child like and weak. i get she went through a traumatic situation but baby girl was 24 acting like she was 16 and this is coming from a 26 year old. she did not grow a back bone, she didn't go to counseling or anything like that instead she whined and pined over a man who kept pushing her away cause she had a savior complex. that is where I got turned off by the author. for almost majority of the book it was boring, no action, nothing. just a stupid weak girl crushing on the big bad scary dark man who isn't even that damn scary at all 🙄😒 yea no. it took the last 12 minutes of this book for action to happen. oh and Ava Lucas must have the same thoughts about the main character Sophia cause she narrated her voice like a damn 12 year old. honestly the most childish heroine ever. I hope and pray in the next book Sophia grows strong cause this ain't it pooh.

long review short. the writing is good, (she was a bit redundant, I can't life) but nevertheless it was a good story. 3 stars out of 5. I took 1 star off for the damn grown child, and another star off for this authors obsession with talking about eyes 🙄😒

Wow

This book was a crazy ride. From the very beginning I was wracking my brain trying to figure it all out but the author kept me distracted with Sophie and Creed’s story. Each age brought me a bit more into the darkness and Brad me not knowing which way to turn.
The ending though...omg...first off cliffy from h%%l and I can’t wait for more. Secondly, I didn’t see that one coming!!

So speechless but amazed!

I was not sure about this audio at first. It’s not for the faint of heart. It full of crazy suspense and just what just happened?

The narrator Ava Lucas is unreal amazing she brings everything to life. I felt like I was there with her every step of the way. I had to stop and catch my breathe a couple of times because of the rawness of it all.

Didn't Do it for me

I normally like S. M. Soto books but i'm sorry to say that this one didn't do it for me. Unfortunately I stop listening after a few chapters. It held my attention in the beginning but then fell flat.

DNF

Didn't make it past chapter 5. Lead character is a 15 year old who waffled between begging and a teenager version of wannabe assertive. Could've been good with different narrator.

Can't get passedthe narrator

good story but the Pathetic child like voice the narrator give the main female character. You mind as well have let a munchkin or 1 one of minions do the narration. It just kills the emotional rollercoaster of the book. ugh!
