The Male Welsh Accent was a Fail

I could not get past the horrible accent of one of the lead male characters. It ruined the story for me, which was predictable and more frustrating than interesting.

Good storyline narrator...not so much

Story is great, beautifully done. The narrator seems confused between a Scottish accent and an Indian accent. Makes it hard to picture the characters as they should be. Might be a better book to read then listen to.

Good Plot

While this book has a good plot, I could not give it a five because it was too sappy. The narrator has a pleasing voice and does an excellent job of acting, but I struggled to see the characters as they were written because her voice for Elizabeth sounded like she was in her late thirties or early forties, and for Noble... What can I say? I've heard Welsh accent from all parts of the country, and this narrator could not do it well. It was very much the accent of someone who comes from India, creating cognitive dissonance when we're talking about Patriots in the Revolutionary War.

Story wonderful but narration not so

This narrator was terrible with Noble’s voice. It was supposed to be Welsh but sounded more like he was from India. It was an annoying voice that I could not get past. Even the women kept slipping in their accent. It was very distracting.

Disappointing

I was sincerely looking forward to reading a book from this era in history. Unfortunately the accents of the various characters were so irritating that it detracted from the story. Noble, a Welshman sounded as if he were from India. other characters were equally given dreadful accents.
I wanted a lot more history than this book offered. The characters were headed in one direction with their beliefs, then suddenly, for no apparent reason suddenly headed in the opposite direction.
most of the story was just irritating.
Sorry I wasted my time and money.

"Scottish" Brogue??

I'm still in the process of reading this book. So far the story is pretty good, but every time the narrator speaks in a "Scottish" accent I CRINGE! I swear until the booked commented on the character's Scottish brogue, I thought the character was from Indian. Which in my mind was really strange considering the time period and the place. I want to keep listening but I don't know how much of that "brogue" I can take. Also the southern accents..... not sure they would have been quite so strong during the revolution. I could be wrong.

Excellence Plot and Charters

The plot weaves a web of spies, heroes and patriots. Perhaps, (or should I say, May chance, ) the plot was too intricate for the length of the book. The ending is complete but the scenes flash by too quickly. I still highly recommend it. I’ve grown fond of Laura Frantz’s work. Aimlee Lilly performs the female voices to protection. However , the males voice lack a base tone. I look forward to more Frantz books set in this time period.

Sometimes 'Fair' is the best there is.

Well developed at its beginning I expected a thorough definition of both history and characters. Instead it seemed the author lost interest in both the meaty account of our nation's origin and the people who stood fast to its founding. The last chapter was rushed and nebulous. I won't be rushing on to read another of Frantz's novels neither will I ignore them. I'd rate this book as fair with the exception of the narration quality of Aimee Lilly which alone merited the listen.
