Publisher's summary

When Emmanuelle Peroni’s father - and mayor of her town - asks her to help rehab Cooper Endicott’s image, she’s horrified. Cooper drives her crazy in every way possible. But he’s also her father’s protégé, and she can’t say no to him without him finding out the reason why: Cooper and her have a messy past. So Emmanuelle reluctantly launches her father’s grand plan to get this Casanova someone to settle down with and help him lose his Lothario reputation.

Cooper Endicott wanted to run for mayor, but he never wanted the drama that went with it. Now that he’s on the political hamster wheel, the other candidates are digging up everything from his past. Even though he’s doing all the right things, his colorful love life is the sticking point for many of the conservative voters. He wants to win, badly, and he knows that if he wants any chance of getting a vote from the female population, he needs to change his image. The only problem? He might just be falling in love with the one person he promised not to pursue: the Mayor’s off-limits daughter.

Self esteem disaster!!!

The story premise is solid. It would have been better if the main character wasn’t a self esteem nightmare. She is doubting herself with her love interest “Cooper”. It is so irritating. It’s exhausting to hear her constantly diminish her charm, attractiveness, ability to bra attracted to a handsome man and his ability to reciprocate.

Refreshing and enjoyable story

On the Corner of Love and Hate by Nina Bocci is a sweet romance set in a small town. Often, this genre can be too predictable and sappy, but the opposite is true here. Bocci delivers her characters through refreshingly witty dialogue.

Emma and Cooper were once friends but something along the way severed that connection. Now, by a twist of fate, and insistence from Emma’s father, the current mayor of the town, Emma must now work closely with her former friend to help get him elected as the next mayor.

During the campaign, which is a major part of the story, I laughed at the banter between Emma and Cooper, but also wanted to shake some sense into them.

I listened to this book on Audible audio. Dara Rosenberg narrated and played out the characters expertly, making the experience of the story all the more enjoyable.

Sweet, Sassy and Intelligent

Sweet, sassy and intelligent must be descriptors assigned to Nina Bocci because they pour out into her writing! The main characters, Emma and Cooper, have wonderful chemistry. They are both very relatable, especially Emma, because Bocci allows us to see their flaws (usually in a humorous way) alongside their outward appearance of being capable and pulled together. The characters are intelligent and the descriptions of what political candidates must go through to be elected are spot on. I love how this story is set in a small town. Bocci allows the reader to really feel the underlying affection Emma and Cooper feel for their hometown and for each other. A very good read and an excellent listen through Audible. This is a book I know I will revisit!

Small town Romance!

Emma and Cooper are too darn amazing! Emma is just too smart for her own good as Cooper doing his best to bring Emma back to his life again. It was a bit Hallmark movie kind of style of reading. So, it kept me still intrigued each chapter. It wasn’t too bad at all. I will continue the series. I think DARA ROSENBERG did a great job!
