Publisher's summary

Passion and danger collide in the latest contemporary romance featuring the Lawless siblings - from New York Times best-selling author Lexi Blake.

When Drew Lawless discovers a fatal flaw in his plan to avenge his parents' deaths, he turns to the one woman he promised he wouldn't touch. He offers her a deal, one that will bring her into his investigation, his life, and his bed.

Investigative reporter Shelby Gates never dreamed how twisted the case would become - or how fascinated she would be with Drew. Every day they spend together binds them. And every night brings her closer to realizing he might be the man for her. As Drew's feelings for Shelby grow, so does the danger. From the streets of Dallas to Austin's high-tech business world, Drew and Shelby play a game begun 20 years before - a game they will win, or die trying.

The end to the hell!

The story I mean. I am glad I finally know the ending, but some things they could have cleared up would have made it better. More to the story to summarize, but pull it together. Like Shelby's brother, etc. I would have loved a bit more wrap up into the future. Not enough to wet the appetite for my imagination to continue into the future with these characters. Sad :( ! The voice performance for this series is not my favorite. I believe it should have been done by the original Masters and Mercenaries voice actor to have made it great. The characters need more cohesive bonds throughout. When you redo who a character sound it throws off how you recognize the character in the whole. I hate that they couldn't continue with the original. I would buy it all if they did. I settled for audible escape to at least know what happened though. Good story. So happy for Shelby and Drew.

Adrenaline packed with some hot shower scenes

This trilogy ended with a new addition and not the patter of little feet kind. The Lawless family and their girlfriends/spouses made up really great developed characters. This book was visited by many of the Taggert clan from Masters & Mercenaries series. The narrator did a little better with the male voices than the first 2 books. A great trilogy.

Wrap up of the Lawless sibling story a bit long but fairly satisfying

Nice overlap with the Taggert family members. Drew' story is dragged out some with endless analysis of his character. Good inclusion of the younger brother but the inner play among the siblings was one of the best parts of the novel. Hope to see more of it if we have more on Noah- especially if he gets roles in future Masters and Mercenaries stories and in the Perfect Gentleman series. Like Shelby's character most of the time but she did get wishy washy and Whitney a few times. Likes when Charlotte Taggert and Mia stepped in.

Excellent series **possible spoiler**

I absolutely loved this series!!! Alexandra was an amazing narrator. One of my favorites so far.
One tiny little thing, I really wish that there was a 4th book that wrapped up everything in a nice little package. Ya know, Mia and Chase’s baby, Drew and Shelby’s wedding, Hatch getting sober and finding love, and then close a few years later with the entire Lawless family and their kids.
Just this readers wish.

I enjoyed this series

After the build up of the first two books, I had great expectations for this book. I am not totally sure what I expected. Well I knew there would the romance between Drew and Shelby. I could see that one coming in the last book. What I didn't expect was Drew being such a lost little boy. I really don't know why. Both of his brothers were still working out their "lost little boy" issues. Especially Bran. But Drew has put forth the "head of household" strong father-figure image that I was very surprised he had as many, or more, issues as Riley and Bran. Shelby has her own issues, but is a Saint to not only tolerate Drew, but fall in love with him. For a take-charge CEO type, he was really a controlling , manipulative, doucebag. I can't say I liked him for a good deal of this book. Then there is the overarching storyline of the series. I am not sure how I feel about that. OR the resolution. Some places I found a bit eye-roll worthy. In others it was more . . . I don't know. I don't think I got the actual why after all these years. The final resolution seemed like it would add more angst to an already angst ridden character. There was a surprise or two getting to the resolution. One item that I think I suspected from the first book. I see the potential for a couple follow-up books, but I kind of hope that doesn't happen. Though a bit unsettling, I am mostly satisfied with this ending. I love the appearance of Ian and Charlotte Taggart. Ian always brings some wonderful wit and sarcasm to a tense situation. One of my all time favorite characters. Overall, I enjoyed this series.
