Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.

Publisher's summary
The long awaited republishing of NYHC Legend, John Bloodclot Joseph's raw and unfiltered autobiography. As real as it gets!
Updated with new chapters.
In his newly updated autobiography, NYHC legend John Bloodclot Joseph recounts his hard times and spiritual redemption. A traumatic childhood in foster homes was just the beginning of John's evolution. Before fronting one of the most important bands in the underground punk scene, the Cro-Mags, John faced homelessness, addiction, betrayal and insanity. Still, even his success couldn't save him from a relapse that set him back to square one - rock bottom. The book is a raw and unapologetic autobiography about his life. Consider yourself warned.

The two-time best-selling author, comedian, actor, and radio icon explains the philosophy that has kept his existence boredom-free since the age of 13 - the love of risk. An avid sports better and frequent card player, Lange believes that the true gambler gets high not from winning, but from the chaotic unknown of betting itself. He recounts some of his favorite moments, many of which haven't involved money at all. In this candid and entertaining memoir, he looks back at the times he's wagered the intangible and priceless things in life: his health, his career, and his relationships.

Story
The anti-busing riots of 1974 forever changed Southie, Boston's working-class Irish community, branding it as a violent, racist enclave. Michael Patrick MacDonald grew up in Southie's Old Colony housing project. He describes the way this world within a world felt to the troubled yet keenly gifted observer he was even as a child. But the threats - poverty, drugs, a shadowy gangster world - were real. All Souls is heartbreaking testimony to lives lost too early, and the story of how a place so filled with pain could still be "the best place in the world".

Captured me from beginning to end!
There are so many stories in this book that could be their own books. I found myself waking up in the morning looking forward to listening and waiting to go inside to see my family until the section I was listening to was completed.
The author telling about these events in his own words made it even better. I would tell my wife about some of the stories and I would start taking like the writer to relay them.
I cannot imagine going through what he's been through and coming out the other side at all - and definitely not with a positive mental attitude. Salute to this man, his story, and his evolution.

I started reading this when I was down. And boy did it bring my spirits up. There was nothing I disliked about this book. Was almost brought to tears many times. How someone can turn their life around in such a positive way after having so many cards stacked against him, is so motivational! The story was told brilliantly. Not your typical
A beautifully written memior that is enjoyably narrated by the author. This is the type of book that is similar to “Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins, it makes you look back at how hard other people are going through life and you never truly know what someones background or childhood is like. This is the type of book that drives you to put the running shoes on, straighten up your diet, take a look at spiritual practices, and to be grateful for what you’ve got. This story sticks with you for life.
