Publisher's summary

Willa Knight: Dweller. Slave. Non-magical being.

In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods.

At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world - a position that she definitely did not earn.

Under the sudden, watchful eye of the gods, she will be tasked to serve the Abcurse brothers, five sols built of arrogance, perfection, and power. They are almost gods themselves, and under their service, she is either going to end up sentenced to death, or else they are going to ruin her so badly that she will wish for it.

Either way, she is in trouble.

This is a full novel, 90,000 words. Book one of five in the Curse of the Gods Series

Entertaining

First, this is the kind of story where the plot devices are paper thin--you can see right through all of the "mysteries" and I'm pretty sure I know what is going to happen in the next couple of books.

Normally this bothers me, but I really enjoyed the main character's voice, both from the author and the narrator. I think it has to do with the undying good humor through which she viewed everything--there was no whining or self-conceit to Willa's character. She kind of perked me up! And the narrator did a good job of conveying this attitude.

I would consider this a romance novel without the sex. There's talk of nakedness and kissing, and some swearing. Probably a PG-13 kind of book.

Has great potential

I had been eyeballing this book for a while and finally decided to purchase it. The first few chapters I almost didn’t continue but decided to stick with it because it had great reviews.
The concept in the book is interesting and I like the plot turns however there isn’t real development of the story line so it comes across as super cheesy. I stuck with it and I’m going to start the second book now but I don’t know if I’d read it again. The biggest down side to the book is that the characters have LITTLE to NO development or change. They all come across as shallow or idiots.
I hated the voice that narrated I wish I had bought it with kindle instead so I didn’t have to hear her whiney voice.

To persist when every path seems impossible.

We all face moments of clumsiness. Times we just can't seem to win. Yet for those who truly seemed cursed by these circumstances who continue on. They are almost blessed with a power we can't fathom.

I really enjoyed this one

I usually don't go for books with a lot of cussing, but they just fit in this book. I loved the humor and am curious where the story goes. I hope the rest of the books are the same.

Loved this book; love this series!

Any additional comments?

I adore Willa. She is strong, full of faults and hilarious, my favorite kind of heroine. And her Abcurse brothers are fascinating and addicting, just like this series. I can't wait for the next book!

One dweller and 5 Sols.

The story grips you from the beginning. I usually only listen when driving, but I couldn't put it down. Took it every where with me. The story takes you on the journey of one Dirt Dweller. She has to leave home, but she gets to go with her best friend. There this clumsy dweller gets stuck cleaning and working for 5 sols who are brother. Dwellers are nothing to anybody. But, somehow she becomes a "girl brother" not a sister. that was a great part.
