Fun! (more Cletus & Jen)

Fun shorts where you get to see all (or at least most) of your favorite Greenvalley residents! Plus a sneak of Engagement and Espionage. ❤

Wrong order

The name of the chapters didn't match the orden of the audiobook, and some where repetitive. I still love the series and obviously liked the stories but I don't know why they didn't make a better job with the reviewing of this audiobook

Wonderful!

Read the series first, of course. It's a great way to prolong saying goodbye to the Winston family. It makes me curious about some of the side characters, though. I loved the novella about Jennifer's mother, Diana. She has a tryst with a familiar "bad boy" from the motor cycle club. I would love to have a whole book about him! Ms. Reid, please write more about "Jason"! It could also serve to tie up a few loose ends, like what happens to Jennifer's brother? Does he ever see his way out of the wraiths?

cute compilation of stories

I will take responsibility for confusing myself for reading this without finishing all the books from the series. But that's okay, what is important is that you know the brothers' names, friends, better halves, and relatives to keep yourself on track. I like this author's writing better if it is in the form of short stories or novellas as it does not make me lose track of what is going on in the story as a whole. After reading this, I am making it a goal to finish reading the entire series, regardless of how lengthy most of them are. It is still worth the time reading, nonetheless.

* 3.5 Stars *

All the short stories and letters were great additives to all the couples we’ve seen so far. I listened to this after I was done with the entire series so it was great to see all the brothers and their wives again, except my anger rose during Billy and Scarlet’s Christmas story, sorry I still can’t stand the mention of Ben.

Mistakes with chapters

I loved the snippets, but the lack of editing here irked me. The chapters didn’t align with the titles, and some were repetitive. With that said: any bonus content is always appreciated! Some great lines:

His closeness was the equivalent of chloroform to my good judgement.

My childhood had been anchor free. I’d been tossed about on a sea of chaos and violence. I didn’t have a real concept of safety until I was 16. This meant that my particular superpower was adaptation. No one had a stronger self-preservation instinct than I did. No one.

And one Christmas dinner with the Winstons would not be the death of me, even if Billy Winston happened to be present. Sure, it might feel like dying. It might feel like being stabbed repeatedly through the heart with a wooden chopstick while standing on one leg naked in an icy tundra that smelled like regret. But it wouldn’t, in fact, be death.

I miss them already

I have enjoyed the entire Beard series. Every brother is my favorite. Very fun. Billy and Scarlet was a little drawn out but I hung on every word and even she’d a tear or two.

Absolutely loved it.

Perfect always.

Fun. Wrenching. Charming. Always.
I would listen again just for the Billy Scarlet Cletus of it all.

Wrong Order

The chapter titles are incorrect; here are the corrections along with when you can listen to these bonuses.

1. The Opening

2. Extra Scene: A Winston Christmas (Ashley and Drew) — This can be an additional epilogue "after" the original epilogue in "Beauty and the Mustache."

3. Extra Scene: Beauty and the Beard (Ashley and Drew) — This can be read/listened to prior to the end of "Beauty and the Beard."

4. Duane's Letter to Beau — The ideal timing for this chapter would be before the epilogue of "Beard in Mind."

5. Duane's Letter to Jess — This can serve as an epilogue for "Truth or Beard."

6. Cletus's Letter to Santa — This can be read after completing "Bread Science."

7. Beard and Hen — A sneak peek for "Engagement and Espionage."

8. Choking the Chicken/Beard and Hen — A sneak peek for "Engagement and Espionage."

9. Billy's Letter to Scarlet — This can be read after "Beard Me" and before "Beard of Necessities."

10. Pie in the Beard — This story may be read after "Engagement and Espionage." I'm unsure since I haven't read this novel yet, but based on the summary, I think the ending of this novel involves Jen and Cletus getting engaged, and this scene is about them while they are engaged.

11. Beard in Waiting (Repo and Diane) — This is a word-for-word excerpt from chapter 5 of "Beard in Hiding."

12. A Very Beardy Christmas (Billy and Scarlet) — This is a crucial scene that will be mentioned repeatedly in "Beard Necessities," so it's important to listen to it before reading "Beard Necessities." The author created this scene to bring changes to Scarlet's life and make their love story possible.

13. The Sneak Peek: It's the same as "Beard and The Hen."

14. This is a sneak peek at "Totally Folked."
